Motts Movers R15 – The Forwards

by Motts on July 14, 2010

P Chapman ($597,300 $-4,500 ($-12,600), 125.64) – I’ve avoided Chappy all year but his hammies have held up and while he’s the cheapest he’s been all year its time to give him his dues. Chappy, you are a gun. One score under a 100 and that was a 94 in R1. Wish I had him.

R Henderson ($251,200 $+75,400 ($+151,000), 69.20) – Just gets better and better every week. Last 3 round average: 94.67.

C Dawes ($353,700 $+37,100 ($+93,400), 76.78) – The main beneficiary of the Collingwood delivery system. Last 3 round average: 94.33. With Travis out for a few he should get even more of it.

Keep an eye on:

J Porplyzia ($320,700 $+21,400 ($-141,400), 68.54) – Was superb a couple of years ago but has struggled of late. Last 2 rounds: 111 & 90. Could be a smoky differentiator come finals time.

T Lockyer ($421,300 $-700 ($-74,800), 82.00) – Played the last 4 games so looks to have cemented his spot back in the rotation. Those games produced scores of 125, 61, 112 and 88.

P Dangerfield ($389,000 $+1,700 ($+56,300), 76.31) – Finally producing what we all expected of him at the dawn of the season. Would be an excellent swap for Zeebs if you’ve still got him.

Was intending on upgrading Hall to Chapman. Looks like this might be the week to do it.

Told you Salmon. If you are looking at upgrading Hall soon anyway & don’t have Chappy I’d do it now.

I’ve got 3 trades left, my team is set and only intend on using these trades for significant LTI’s (or if i can save them until rnds 21 & 22 swap to inform players).

Anyway, i am having SC withdrawals. I’ve got nothing to mull over. Argh!!!

My forwards are chpman ROK jpod hall rioli Franklin with brown to come back and I was gonna wait to trade hall for either reiwoldt or pav depending on who’s traveling better. Realize playfair was and should have traded him for jaensch earlier

If Brown comes back this week you won’t need to trade – you’ll have 7 fit players on the park. Your best option is to not trade. If he doesn’t come back then I’d look at Playfair to Porplyzia.

Is anyone concerned @ the fact that Chapman has missed 4 games in a row each year for the last 3 or 4 years between rounds 17-22?

That’s exactly why I didn’t pick him up after Barlow went down.

That’s exactly why I didn’t pick him in R1.

That, and concerns about whether his hammy’s would even last until rd 17. He missed one game with tightness and I think that Geelong can probably afford a ‘no-risk’ policy with him, to ensure that he is in tip top condition for the finals.

What’s your take on Blair, HGL? Form permitting, will he stay in the side?

I like him. Uses it well, tackles and can get it inside. I am not sure about whether he will get a lot more game time, but Malthouse does stick thick with blokes that do the job. I think it’ll be hard for him if Dick, Davis, Medhurst all come back, esp whilst Tarkyn is doing the business.
I’d rate him a risky downgrade possibility, but one that could payoff. Probably fine if you have another mid bench player that you can rely on to replace an injured player.

Yes, good move, missing out on those 120+ scores every week just in case he misses a week or two! – I see he’s still the highest scoring forward

He has been very good this year, and although it appears that those of us without Chapman messed up, hindsight is an very easy tool to use.
The knocks on Chapman were legitimate in my opinion and the concern on him missing games close to/during SC finals is will only be answered in due course.
It isn’t like it’s Chapman or bust. In either the midfield or forward line there are viable options that we can choose instead. Certainly if Nick regains his touch, you think that his ability to regularly score 140+ has to be attractive.

I’ve saved trades just in case his hammies don’t hold up, so far so good but if they do go ping then I’ll trade him.

I think that is a smart move, because of the risk involved, and, if he stays on the park, you’ll get good scores out of him. If he goes down, there are tradable options. I think to bring him in now is pretty risky.

In regard to Chris Dawes, whilst there are potentially more options for him scoring wise, St.K will focus more of their defensive energy on him so it will be a good test for him. Collingwood might try Anthony as the other ‘tall’, or may plump for Rusling who is off the injury list. If the Pies go small with Medhurst and Davis, then Dawes might find it difficult, or hopefully for my mob, be inspired to announce himself with a big performance.

Not having Chappy sure does hurt, but not as much as it will if he plays all games up to the finals though. I still can’t see the Cats playing him right up ’till the finals. He’s just to good a finals player to risk if they don’t need the wins. Thats what I’ll be praying for in rounds 19-22!

Hi guys first post thought I’d better give a little back! Just read Franklin rolled his ankle at training and may be in doubt something to be wary of for bench coverage.

I have one trade left and my Forward Line reads: Brown, Betts, Pods, Buddy, Pav, TDL, Gumbleton, ROK with $42,000 in the bank. I can’t keep playing Gumbleton because I keep loosing my league matches, so I have to go for broke in order to secure a top 8 position.

My initial idea was to go Hall to Goodes. But after waching Betts I really want to trade him. Just wondering if any of you bright sparks might be able to suggest something?
