Motts Movers R16, 2013 – The Mids

Written by Motts on July 18 2013

Premiums

Scott Pendlebury ($648,000, 130.33, 92) – With Gaz sitting out last week, Scotty Too Hotty snatched the title of highest point scoring player in SC this year. Did it in style too – had the second highest score for the round with a lazy 153. This bloke is just a bloody weapon. And he meets Gaz this week up north. Should be a cracker.

David Mundy ($555,400, 106.62, 103) – Started the year at $477k – can you believe that? Even now at $555k, with an average over his last three of 126, he’s looking like a bargain. Has scored centuries in 9 of the 13 games he’s played this year. Doesn’t face a Top 4 team between now and the end of the regular season.  Reasonable finals run too #understatement

Ryan O’Keefe ($569,400, 108.87, 92) – Such a shame that he lost his DPP status. Even without it BS still might bring him in – he holds a lot of ROK man-love. If he was a M/F, he’d be in a hell of lot more teams than the 8.5k that he’s in now. Over the last 3 has averaged a superb 125.

Midpricers

Chris Masten ($495,100, 100.29, 80) – He’s been solid this year without being spectacular but over the past 4 weeks has stepped it up: 100, 101, 107, 116. Got some tough opponents between now and the end of the year though: Sydney, Essendon, Geelong and Collingwood.

Mitch Duncan ($434,800, 81.6, 56) – Too many scores in the 50’s to make me feel comfortable about bringing him in but over the last three has averaged 107.33 so maybe you are. Highest score for the year has been a 135 against the Suns but the week after that against GWS he got vested and scored 38.

Tom Mitchell ($387,400, 102.5, 18) – I’ve run out of superlatives to describe this guy. No doubt you’ve already got him (47% of teams do) but if you’re part of the 53%, bring him in now. Scores since getting his first run in R10: 87, 126, 84, 99, 106, 113.

Rookies

Matthew Arnot ($115,900, 75.5, -82) – Bikkies has had 2 runs for an 85 and a 66. If he gets named have a look at him but at this stage of the year I’d be adding flexibility to your team by bringing in a DPP.  Someone like…..

Travis Varcoe ($245,300, 48, 82) – Sure he’s a little more expensive and you’d be taking a bit of a punt that his shoulder is well and truly healed but he’s a handy M/F and as we’ve paraphrased before here on SCT: to the brave go the spoils.

Andrew Boston ($96,200, 17.33, 14) – If price is an issue, give Red Sox a look. He’s played 3 games for the Suns now and if he ever shakes the green vest he’s threatening to take a game apart make his breakeven score.

  1. I have decided to torpedo Dangerfield this week and am trying to decide between Swan and Mundy. I am leaning towards Swan, but have never fielded him before due to an anti dickhead policy, so there lies the dilemma. Thoughts?

  2. Had ROK from the start and could not be happier with his recent form. Now I need to decide who replaces ROK. I am probably leaning towards Mundy for Joelwood.

  3. I know it goes against all SC “rules”, but what about D Beams as a POD?
I can afford him easily, so with an unlimited budget who should I bring in for Danger?

  4. Thanks for the great article but its just confused me more. Mundy looks really tempting at that price but so does Swan!

My real dilemma lies in whether I should be completing my midfield or defence this week. I know this should really be in trade talk but when you miss it where else can you put it?

    T/U – K.Martin & Terlich for Shaw & Arnot
T/D – K.Martin & Terlich for Swan (or mundy!) & a nobody forward rookie (got staker and Mayes on my forward bench) via Staker

  5. I can’t afford to keep dangerfield in my team haven’t got good enough backup.

Any Suggestions on who best to bring in, my current midfield is

    J. Selwood, Swan, K Jack, Priddis, Fyfe, Ablett, T. Mitchell DANGERFIELD (neade, b.jack)

I will have $520,000 to spend.

  7. Only have 5 trades left, was hoping to save them for finals but what should I do with KMart? Will he get back in the team soon enough or will he play ressies for the rest of the year? Thoughts?

  8. Is it worth the risk of leaving Vlastuin in my team for one more week and swapping Dangerfield for Pendles.

Or go with my original plan of Vlastuin to Shaw and Dangerfield to JPK

    T/U – Original Plan

T/D – Keep Vlastuin for one more week.
