Motts Movers R17, 2013 – The Forwards

Written by Motts on July 24 2013

Premiums

Tom Rockliff ($487,600, 101.67, 25) – If, like me, you’re wondering why you don’t have him yet, its because he went through a quiet patch after scoring 153 against the Coasters in R7. 81, 69, DNP, BYE, 90, 79, 57. He then took on the Suns in R15 and bounced back with a 101. Astute coaches would’ve snapped him up then for $425k. They then would’ve been rewarded with a 147 against the Roos and then last week a 128 against the Dees. No forward has scored more points over the last 3.

Stevie Johnson ($583,500, 118.70, 97) – He’s not cheap and he keeps missing games but when he takes the park, by the beard of Zeus he’s good. You’d think he’s learned his lesson now and with 4 of the last 6 down at Kardinia I reckon you’ve gotta have him.

Brent Harvey ($511,100, 104.1, 102) – His only REALLY bad score for the year (59) came the week Crowley pinched all of his points. Other than that, he’s been remarkably consistent for a bloke his size and age. Will ton up again this week against the Dees but after that things get hard: Geelong, Adelaide, Essendon, Hawthorn, Collingwood. On that basis alone I’m sticking an ‘avoid’ on him.

Midpricers

Robbie Gray ($439,800, 79.54, 48) –  He’s been threatening all year but has finally managed to string 3 good games together: 114, 118, 107 against Essendon, Hawthorn and St Kilda. Those who had the courage to stay with him would be looking up and mouthing the words “thank you”.

Daniel Giansiracusa ($394,800, 72.93, 10) – You’d have to be down to your last trade and in serious financial difficulties to consider bringing in Gia. Yes his last 4 weeks have been good (95, 87, 102, 131), but considering some of his other scores this year (33, 44, 39, 50, and 14) you’re taking one hell of a leap of faith.

Jeremy Cameron ($397,300, 72.8, 42) – I’m giving J-Cam a guernsey not just because he’s delivered a pair of 102’s in the last couple against 2 Top 8 teams (Sydney and Essendon) but because he’s done it despite such woeful delivery from his team mates. That’s his 4th 99+ score for the year. One for draft team coaches only.

Rookies

No Forwards worth less than $150k played last week. So here you go:

Cory Dell’Olio ($208,000) – Played his first game for the year last week and scored 113. Essendon’s SC finals series: WC, North, Carlton, Richmond.

Tom Lee ($230,900, 60, -16) – Not cheap but is getting played and making a fist of it so that when blokes get injured/suspended/withdrawn late, rather than getting an egg, you’ll pick up 60-odd.

Jed Lamb ($232,300, 44.12, -28) – Backed up his 85 against GWS in R16 with an 87 against WC last week. Tough finals run: Collingwood, St Kilda, Geelong and Hawthorn and I reckon his spot wouldn’t be as safe as Tommy Lee’s with blokes like Goodesy sitting on the sidelines and Sydney wanting to tune up for the finals in the last few rounds of the year.

  1. Is Ricky Henderson worth a serious look? Has had a good last month, just wondering if he can keep his form up. Looking for a POD.

  2. Hi SCT coaches,

With Hanley going down for potentially a month, I’ve decided to bump Staker in to defence & with the $$$$$ I’ll have, I’m thinking of grabbing Cloke?

T/U…….like it Catta he should average 95-100 for the next 5-6 weeks
T/D…….don’t do it Catta, Cloke’s not worth the risk

    Cheers SCT coaches

  3. I stupidly stupidly stupidly switched Zorko in for Rockcliff before the start of round 1 and can’t forgive myself.

With 4 trades left should I be holding onto Zorko or should I switch him out? I’m 10K short of Stevie J (although I could elect for a slightly cheaper Def replacement for Hanley then McKenzie).
