Motts Movers R18, 2013 – The Mids

Written by Motts on August 2 2013

Eagling, your work this week has been just tremendous. On behalf of everyone, I say thanks for putting the effort in.

Premiums:

Dane Swan:
$595, 600 Avg: 118.82 Own %: 41.46

Finals Run: Sydney, Hawthorn, West Coast, North Melbourne.

Ignoring the effect from a couple of downsized scores (73 and 98), Swannie averages 143.5 in his last 8. He plays Essendon this weekend (Last game on Sunday), whom loves going ballistic again. 127 against them this year and 180+175 in 2012. GET ON!

Joel Selwood
$601, 300 Avg: 114.12 Own%: 29.39

Finals Run: Port Adelaide, West Coast, Sydney, Brisbane.

Selwood’s past 3 scores: 133, 137, 151. Selwood’s past 3 scores v North Melbourne: 126. 140, 140. An excellent choice for the VC as he plays Friday night. Plays 3 of 4 finals at the Cattery, a venue where he averages 113.42 PPG.

Ryan Griffen:
$ 577, 000 Avg: 121.87 Own %: 11.00

Finals Run: Carlton, Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne.

I was against bringing Griffen in at 660k because I thought he wouldn’t be able to keep his monster scores up. However I have no qualms about recommending him 80k cheaper, nearly at his starting price.

He can knock out scores of 140+, making him an ideal trade-in option and a great POD.

Downside is, he might have a tough run with tagging…

Nathan Fyfe:
$484, 600 Avg: 105.33 Own %: 17.64

Finals Run: GWS, Melbourne, Port Adelaide, St Kilda.

Gets a lot of the ball, but has his scores hurt because of poor efficiency. I don’t see this a being a big a problem as it could be, because Fyfe is going to stack up the numbers like a sentient forklift in a pallet storage shed.

And if that’s not enough, he gets the MJ tick of approval

Jack Steven:
$574, 900 Avg: 107.59 Own %: 1.81

Finals Run: Hawthorn, Sydney, Gold Coast, Fremantle.

With a very, very tough finals fixture, picking up Jack won’t be for the faint of heart. However the stats indicate he’s been matching it with the best. In the past 11 weeks he’s missed the ton 3 times with a low score of 89, and managed scores of 150, 133, 127 and 161. If you’re looking for the ultimate difference to your rivals, this could be it.

Mid Pricers:
Adam Cooney
$477, 900 Avg: 95.6 Own %: 1.28

Finals Run: Carlton, Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne.

With a three round average of 116.3, the Brownlow medalist has the skill to perform, but his body lets him down. Still, if he can stay on the park he is capable of some pretty decent scores. Capable of some not-so-decent ones too.

Jack Redden:
$493, 200 Avg: 97.53 Own %: 0.96

Finals Run: Richmond, GWS, Western Bulldogs, Geelong.

He’s in less than 1% of teams, has a very good finals run and has knocked out 4 consecutive tons. Much has been said of Rockliff’s midfield time, leaving Redden sunk in obscurity.

No Rookie picks this week.

  1. Beams?

is it too many pies having Swan, Pendles and Beams? Want to upgrade Priddis to Beams as champion data don’t seem to like him in sc. Also have Gaj, Joelwood, Barlow, Jpk and Griffen.
