Motts Movers R18, 2013 – The Rucks

Written by Motts on July 30 2013

A massive thanks to Eagling who has stepped in the ably fill the breach this week. Very much appreciated mate.

Premiums:

Matthew Kreuzer $566, 700. Avg: 101.86 Own %: 8.37.

Finals Run: Western Bulldogs, Richmond, Essendon, Port Adelaide.

Back in Round 13, I made the decision to bring in Ivan Maric instead of the nearly equally priced Kreuzer. How I’ve regretted that decision…

Coming off the back of probably his best run of form yet, it is my belief that Krooz will continue to carve it up. But hey, I started with Patrick Karnezis and Billy Longer…

Todd Goldstein $536. 500 Avg: 113.59 Own % 12.83

Finals Run: Adelaide, Essendon, Hawthorn, Collingwood.

Clearly the number one ruck at North Melbourne, is Goldy tiring? You wouldn’t think so, after pumping out 158 in North’s last training session. Scored 85 and 97 against Leuenberger and Kreuzer, which sort of dampens things. Need to weigh up whether the difficult opponents North Melbourne face will impact on Goldy’s scores, and whether or not he can keep up with the exertions of being the #1.

Will Minson $531, 300 Avg: 111.71 Own%: 9.58

Finals Run: Carlton, Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne.

Clear #1 at the Doggies, Will has swept all comers aside this year (poetic license). Has a lowest score of 82 and faces nobody at all in the Supercoach Grand final. Need I point your attention to what Goldy scored last week?

Midpricers:

Dean Cox $440, 100 Avg: 103.41 Own %: 49.55

Finals Run: Essendon, Geelong, Collingwood, Adelaide.

Dean Cox will lead the charge as West Coast sweeps all aside to surge into the finals, averaging a phenomenal…

Sorry, got carried away there with that flight of fancy. Whilst he’s been disappointing over the past month, you never know if/or when he’s going to pump out a monster score. DPP eligibility a bonus. Still the third best averaging ruckman this year.

Nathan Vardy. $277, 700 Avg: 78.67 Own %: 4.35

Finals Run: Port Adelaide, West Coast, Sydney, Brisbane.

With Simpson down, can Vardy take up the mantle of # 1 at Kardinia Park and replicate his 125 against St Kilda from now until the end of the season? If you think he can, jump on. But buyer beware, he’s only played three games this year.

Rookies:

Brodie Grundy: $114, 500 Games played: 1 Score: 75

Finals Run: Sydney, Hawthorn, West Coast, North Melbourne.

Not very sure on his JS or scoring potential, but he played last week. It was against GWS though.

  2. Thoughts on Nic Nat to Leunberger if he or nicholls doesn’t pull up?
Has had 6 tonnes in 8 games and has a dream finals run.
    Saints
    Richmond
    GWS
    WBD
    GEEL

TU – leuy will hit the ton in most games
TD – you only have 3 trades left not worth it

  3. Whats the thought on Nichols??

TU: he’s gone trade him if you can
TD: might only be 1 or 2 weeks, hold if you can cover him

  4. McBean could be one of the more common trades given his price and DPP which seems odd given he hasn’t played a game. But it does allow for strategic flexibility come finals time.
