Motts Movers R9, 2013 – The Backs

Written by Motts on May 27 2013

Premiums

Paul Duffield ($521,600, 98, 92) – BS doesn’t rate Duffman but I do. His 98 average places him 8th on the list of Defenders in 2013 and over the last 3 he’s averaged more than any of ‘em – 119. MJ respects him – mentioned him in his R7 Fallen Prem’s post and told you he’d be back over $500k in the coming weeks. Spot on again, MJ. Maybe give Duff some thought after his R11 bye.

Pearce Hanley ($547,600, 111.75, 114) – The pasty white Irish bloke was running loose in defense on Saturday and collecting possies at will. Over the last 3 has averaged 115.33 and done it against some pretty good opposition: WC, Essendon and Caaaarlton. Another one to aim at bringing in after his R11 bye.

Shannon Hurn ($513,400, 96.56, 96) – No tons in the first 4 weeks, dropped to $444k, got a mention in MJ’s R5 Fallen Prem’s and since then has gone bang, bang, bang, bang, bang for 5 tons on the trot. Not big ‘uns but tons nonetheless. Go Shagger!

Midpricers

Garrick Ibbotson ($481,000, 102.6, 94) – Ibbo!! Started his 2013 campaign in R5 at $388k. Scores since then have been: 83, 94, 142, 82, and then 112 against the hapless Dees last week. When’s his bye? Same week as na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na DUFF-MAN!

Chris Newman ($436,800, 87, 13) – Has wound the clock back in his last 2 scoring 125 against Port and 123 against the Dons. Plays the Coasters at home this week. Can’t see his aging legs propelling him to another ton on the wide expanses of Subiaco.

Nick Vlastuin ($363,600, 88.8, -12) – If you are one of the 50% of coaches that DON’T have Vlas, rectify that glaring oversight this week (and start reading this site more!). Sure you’ll miss out on the $200k he’s already made but you’ll have your D6 position sorted until Finals.

Rookies

Brent Staker ($128,000, 85.5, -96)

Brent Staker – don’t make me tell you again.

  1. I have had Newman since the beginning, I was patient to say the least and recently he’s gone 125-DNP-123, thank you very muchhhhhhhh.

  2. Given my shocking run of backline injuries I decided to cut my losses with Dixon to avoid a donut (thanks for putting me in that position Hearh Shaw and Justin Clarke). Thanks also to my other backline players that inspired my concerns about backline issues due to earlier omissions (Gibbs, Goodes & Heath Shaw).

On Friday I bought Ellis. He looked like a likely contender. Especially after MJ’s early call. donut. I now have one less trade and an extra 2 weeks on problems in my backline.

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me three times – is your name Heath Shaw?

  3. motts good write up, i can potentially get vlastuin this week to finish my back line but, are you sure it’s not to late for him? money could be spent on an ultra premium or saved for bye trading?
