Motts Movers R3 – The Mids

by Motts on April 14, 2010

Blokes that haven’t been performing that I reckon will be great value in a couple of weeks:

Sam Mitchell ($524,800, 76.67) – I am befuddled about Sammy’s scores. I’ve been watching him and he’s getting tons of it (27, 30 and 34 disposals in Rounds 1,2 and 3) but he must not be using it well enough because his scores have been 107, 64, and 59. He’s another one I’m sure will bounce back which will make him good value if he drops below $500k. Maybe wait for the return of Sewelly.

Bernie Vince ($476,000, 71.33) – Dropped $43k last week because the closest he’s got to a ton so far was a 94 in R1. Even though I expect him to have a good game this week against the Blues at home his price will drop again next week so if you like him, hold off til then.

Brett Deledio ($506,700, 78.00) – Has yet to really make an impact and dropped $42k last week. It’s a shame he’s not listed as a Forward as well this year because he was fantastic in the second half of last season. Faces Freo and Geelong in the next 3 weeks so could be a very good pick up in about R8.

And the ones that have jumped straight out of the gate and are tearing it up:

Michael Rischitelli ($436,400, 114.33) – Represents magnificent value right now even after a $46k jump last week. With Power and Black on the fade he’s grabbed his opportunity with both hands. Has scored a 147 and a 125 in the first 3 rounds and faces the Dogs at home, Melbourne at the G, and Sydney at the SCG over the next 3 weeks.

Ben McGlynn ($445,000, 112.67) – Has fit in beautifully at Sydney and other than a 47 against in the Saints in the first round, has gone on to score 130 and 167 meaning his price is going to shoot up again this week. His next 3 rounds are Roos at Etihad and then WC and Brisbane at home.

Lindsay Gilbee ($483,400, 114.33) – A fantastic SC performer because he can deliver it on a dime so his efficiency is right up. For those looking to take advantage of the DPP rule, he plays as a D/M. Will go up in price again this week after 144 and 124 over the last 2 weeks. Faces Brisbane (away), Adelaide (H) and St Kilda (H) over the next 3.

I’ve focussed on value in the middle this week and didn’t want to trade but after researching those last 3 I’m now as keen as mustard to get them. Who else has been great for you or that you have your eye on?

Lenny Hayes is a gun premium u might be able to get for 500k in a couple of weeks. Maybe creepy crowley can give his snoz another massage this week and keep his score down…

Hey Motts, I reckon Cooney deserves a mention also. Looks rejuvenated and set for a massive year, with an average of 120+ he has surely been one of the better performers in the middle so far, especially considering his starting price of 480 grand.

Spot on as usual Mottsarella. Particularly keeping an eye on Mitchell and Vince – they seem to be getting their hands on the ball and they’re both good enough to iron out the clangers any time now.

Also watch out for Swann. His price is set to drop, as well as Pendles.

hope sambo mitchell starts to come good. expected better than this. im the same. i watch the hawks and rub my hands together watching how much he gets the ball and then am disappointed when i check the scores after the game. i agree about risky and mcglynn though not too sure anyone has played on them yet and whether that may continue???

I wrote about it yesterday in Brad Sewell, BB. At a rough guess I’m saying R10 if the rumour is true.

Great picks Motts. Trying to think of any down-sides to your second lot of three, and it’s tough. None of them will cop a primary tag this season. All of them are in scintellating form and are still undervalued after significant price jumps. Personally, I think McGlynn has had a bucket full of luck to go along with his form. A lot of that is cause he knows where to stand around a pack, but the amount of space he’s found has to be a lot of ass along with a lot of class. Of the three, he’s the riskiest for mine.

I’d also push Hodgey on to anyone that hasn’t got him yet. If you’re looking for a mid and you have $520k, he would be my first choice.

im loving having hodge in my team. Classic example of enjoying a bloke for both scoring lots of points for you and being a bloody good footballer!!

Re: McGlynn – Plus if you’ve already jumped on the Swans players, like Malceski, Kennelly and Seaby, could be one too many come season end from an average team.

so last week i traded out deledio for dangerfield. lucky me! then spent the money trading in brown for medhurst. thats a tick. although i should of traded out tippett in my ruck and could of got brown for riewoltd this week instead to save a trade. now gotta make two changes again this week…! FML….

I with you NICKO coons has been a great pick up at his price. Can easily see he has shakin of injurys that plagued him last year.I’m still happy with my choice of bartell over GAJ,the money saved allowed enough cash to snag selwood but only time will tell.It makes it more of guess each week a to pick a captain those with GAJ just leave the C next to gaz all year.

so do i trade Roo for Didak then trade Tippett for Kreuzer. or trade Roo for Cyril and Tippett for Sandilands?
didak scores big and i feel is more consistant but sandilands is a better ruck man than kreuzer. what do i do!!!

I had Didak last year, he is frustrating. Can get you big points but can also do nothing. Given his price, his inconsistency is a worry, but you will love him some weeks.
I am looking at swapping Reiwoldt for Peterson or Rioli. I figure both will go up in price over the next couple of weeks irrespective of their scoring. Particularly Peterson, he seems reliable so far, so he will give me $400K in the bank then when he goes up another $200k in the next 3-4 weeks I will have the money to straight swap him for a premium and another $200-300K rookie for a premium….well that’s the plan I’m considering.
Sandilands is a must in the ruck – he is the new Cox.

I think Rioli is better than Didak and Sandi is clearly better than Kreuz, so it’s an easy answer for me.

i just like didak coz the fact he scores highly. and his had one low game but still scored over 100 against two of the best defences in stk and w.b

If you put a cool towell on your head (preferably not a black and white striped one – which I am guessing you have lying around… ;) I reckon you’d agree Sandi+Rioli > Kreuz+Didak

I know this post should have been in “Motts Movers – Forwards”, but after seeing that it all got a bit high-jacked from a simpleton, I wanted to share this little nugget.

Kyle Reimers is showing excellent upside. For $307,500 scores of 92 and 111. Will definately be going up in price the next couple of weeks, and might even continue to score well if he can stay on the park. It’s a bit of a random, but might be a good down-trade for Voldt. I’m sure you could put $300k to good use somewhere else.

reimers’ coach is a bit of a worry for me. another couple of losses again and if reimers has a couple of ok games at the same time, will it be his head on the block??? he dropped howlett this week after playing a couple of good games and prismall hasnt been too bad either.

Roo -> Pav (~$115k left)
or
Roo -> Chapman (~$17k left)

Chapman of course comes with his risks but he knows how to pull out the scores and Pav against St Kilda this week doesn’t help either.

I am leaning towards Pav though.

oh i dont hav a black and white towel lying around. i just think didak is about to get much better as he is a proven star, compared to rioli who is hit and miss and injury prone. i love the sand man but kreuzer seems to be improving as well…
