Motts Movers R3, 2012 – The Backs

Written by Motts on April 17 2012

Premiums

Brett Deledio ($571,200, 117.7, 84) – next 3 opponents: Geelong, WC (home), Port.

Andrew Carrazzo ($515,500, 110.3, 72) – Essendon, Fremantle (away), GWS

Grant Birchall ($499,000, 95.7, 110) – next 3 opponents: WC (away), Sydney, St Kilda.

Midpricers

Alex Rance ($478,400, 109.3, 62) – next 3 opponents: Geelong, WC (home), Port.

Shannon Hurn ($463,000, 103.7, 56) – next 3 opponents: Hawthorn, Richmond, North Melbourne.

Greg Broughton ($472,300, 79.7, 97) – next 3 opponents: St Kilda, Carlton, GC. Must be considered since the injury to Fyfe and his improved chance of midfield time.

He hasn’t played 3 games so I haven’t considered him here but Jackson Trengove ($386,400, 99.5, 29) is also worth a look.

Value Picks

Marty Clarke ($224,700, 76, -45)

Tomas Bugg ($187,100, 79, -39)

Tim Mohr ($173,500, 62.3, 1)

(note: I’m leaving Jarryn Geary out of this list on the basis that his first 3 opponents have been Port, the GC and the Dogs – 3 teams that would probably artificially inflate your numbers).

  1. Conca – big preseason favourite and if you took out his game 1 green vest score he would be sitting very pretty. Has a negative BE this week also.

  3. Cashcows in the backline have some more fattening up to do then Birchall,Fish and Carrots will slot in nicely

My priority this year is to get the Mid premiums sorted before the other lines

  4. I like Birchall. Watched him against the Cats & he was everywhere. If he didn’t getting injured he probably would’ve had a 130pt plus game. Never had him on my radar but after that game I’m a believer…

  11. Just checked the Cattery website, apparently Smedts is injuried (chest). How do you rate his chances of returning to the seniors on a regular basis? I’m facing a zero in the backline (thanks to Shaw & Lake) so I’m considering trading him for Mohr to avoid a zero. This means $5k left in the bank.

    Thumb up – do it
    Thumb down – don’t waste a trade.
