Motts Movers R3 – The Forwards

Written by Motts on April 13 2011

The Brownlows
Chris Dawes ($402,200, 113.00) – The main beneficiary of a rampant Pies midfield. He’s averaging 3 goals a game and only missed the ton against The Blues last week because Blair was going bananas (and receiving free kicks as a result of falling over after running into people – yes, I’m bitter).

Josh Hill ($369,100, 108.00) – OK so yes in his first 3 games he’s played the 2 teams that are widely expected to finish last and second last this year (and no, Essendon unfortunately isn’t one of them) but not everybody can score well against the Hats (see Giansiracusa, Daniel and Simpson, Kade). He hasn’t yet scored in anything less than 3 figures kicking 4 goals and getting a ton of kicks along the way. Has some tough games against Freo, the Pies and Sydney to come to I wouldn’t be jumping onto him just yet.

Nat Fyfe ($380,300, 101.67) – The Avatar struggled when the Cats came to visit only scoring 49 but his other 2 games have been sublime – 117 (Brisbane away) and 139 (Adelaide away). Is a M/F DPP making him even handier and its in the midfield that he’s getting the majority of his points. I heard on one of this week’s TV shows that before he got to Freo he struggled to get a game in the seconds at school. That’s a helluva improvement!

Honourable mentions: The Big 4 M/F DPP’s: ROK, Goodes, Higgins & Pav – all averaging over 100.

The Downlows
Tom Hawkins ($336,200, 47.33) – Still struggling to find his spot in the Geelong team. I’m starting to think he’d be better off at another club. Has 3 sub-60 scores to his name and only kicked one goal for the year.

Lynden Dunn ($339,000, 59.67) – A M/F DPP in his 6th year should score a lot higher than this. With or without a sh*tty mo’. Is kicking goals but has only laid 2 (!) tackles in 3 games and gave away 5 frees against Brisbane.

D Giansiracusa ($406,100, 62.67) – Has scores of 59, 83 and 46 next to his name – the last coming against The Suns – WTF is up with that?? Hasn’t averaged less than 85 over the last 3 seasons so he’ll probably turn it around but don’t go rushing him into your team just yet – he’s got the bye this week and his BE in R5 is 144 against Freo out west.

  1. I’m lacking some fire power down forward, will need to consider some big changes if things don’t improve. Got Pav in the MID that’s about all from that lot.

Motts – Finish this sentence …. Did i mention ….?

  3. Sucked into bruce aswell!
hawks have west coast in tazzie this week.
Like someone said to me earlier, if he cant score well down there, dump him. Personally im going either bob murphy or enright if he doesnt perform this week.

1st weeks score was shite but first game, new club…forget it.
    2nd week, 96 not a bad start.
last week he was the sub so naturally he scored shite.
if we can be sure he’s not going to be the sub each week he should get better and better especially if the hawks keep up the form of there last 6 qtrs.

so for me he’s on 1 weeks notice, perform or hit the road.

    Hope this helped.

  6. The 4 honourable mention getters would be the only ones I’d pick from that entire list – You know what you’re getting each week from them.

Had Gia last year, won’t have him again. Too inconsistent and there just aren’t enough weak teams in the comp for him to score well against anymore (see: Flat Track Bully).
