Motts Movers R4 – The Forwards

Written by Motts on April 21 2011

Easter

Colin Sylvia ($428,200, 101, 87) – The only smudge on Col’s 101 average is that the Dees have played Brisbane and the Gold Coast in their first 4 games. Having said that, the other two were against a good defensive team, Sydney (114), and the Hawks. His price hasn’t yet risen so if you’re keen, get on after this round. That is, of course, if you think he’ll break his 87 BE against the Weagles in Perth next round.

Chris Yarran ($366,900, 90.50, 33) – OK so the opening round 32 against Richmond wasn’t flash. But it was actually part of his cunning plan to get all the doubters to burn a trade getting him out of their teams before he went on a rampage. Since then he’s notched up 114, 111 and 105. At $367k he’s still a bargain but just remember: Carlton has the R23 bye – so no SC SF action for Yaz.

Chris Mayne ($368,600, 90.75, 54) – The goal of Motts Movers is is to point out to you those players that I consider to be great value – Sideshow Bob fits the bill beautifully. Had a Docker Shocker against the Cats (66) but other than that has scored a couple of 101’s and a 95. He’s only gone up 17k and is in less than 1% of all teams (3,078) making him a real POD. Prease consida.

Honourable mentions: Brent Harvey, Jack Darling, Chris Dawes, Matthew Pavlich, Buddy, Chappy, Stevie J (ripping grab), and Goodesy.

Bunnies

James Podsiadly ($386,400, 50, 134) – Where’s the guy gone who averaged 92 last year?  Has only kicked 3 goals in 4 games and could only manage a 68 at his favourite venue, the Cattery, against a crappy Power team.

Cameron Mooney ($318,800, 45, 134) – Who’s kicking all the goals down at Geelong? Moons hasn’t bagged one yet. I watched the game against the Swans last Saturday night and I can’t recall seeing The Shag once. Has dropped $43k already this year .

Eddie Betts ($353,900, 68.25, 151) – After opening the season with a 111 against Richmond, Eddie has just got worse and worse – 73, 53, 36. There’s obviously something going on behind the scenes with him because this is the same player who was challenging LeCras for the small forward spot in the All Australian squad last year. Will probably get dropped this week – lets hope he gets his head right in the Magoos because when he’s up and about he’s a ripper to watch.

Trading note: Time to start considering Jumping Jack Riewoldt. At $344k he’s a steal and his breakeven against the Roos this week is only 103.

  2. Depends how many trades you have but personally I’d be dumping. If you haven’t got Darling, give him some thought – maybe give Walks one more week to prove himself – his BE is 88 so you wouldn’t think he’s going to lose too much value – and Darling’s price won’t rise because he has the bye.

  4. I reckon Dangerfield and Knights should get honorable mentions. Very disappointed with these two so far!

  5. So glad I kept him! 🙂
Just hoping he can keep it up. Trouble is when he has an off game – he has a really offfff game!
