Motts Movers R4 – The Rucks

Written by Motts on April 19 2011

Hot

Brad Ottens ($416, 500, 116.50, 22) – I’m naming this guy through gritted teeth given BS drafted him in last week. Can’t argue with his numbers though: 105, 101, 129, & 131. Scarily it appears as though he’s getting better. He had 34 hitouts against The Mummy last week and also finds time to slot them in the forward line when he’s not in the middle. Looks to be the archetypal ruckman that has benefitted from the new rules. Good luck to him. Not.

Shane Mumford ($469,700, 113.75, 74) – Watching Mummy play in R4 I was struck with just how much he enjoys the game. He loves bashing bodies, getting into packs and getting his hands dirty, and taking pack marks. And he’s got the rig to do it too. Seeing this bloke coming at me with a fair bit of steam up would probably make me wish Mum still washed my reg grundies. Here’s hoping he stays healthy in ’11.

Honourable mentions: Mark Jamar, Dean Brogan, Robbie Warnock, Todd Goldstein, Tom Bellchambers and Josh Fraser.

Not

Brent Renouf ($279,100, 51.75, 32) – Cudos for his 97 against Richmond a couple of weeks ago but his other scores have been 34, 16 & 60. The ruck division has been an issue for Hawthorn for years. Imagine how good they’d be with someone like Cox or Sandilands paddling it down to their midfielders!

Shaun Hampson ($247,300, 57.75, 69) – It’s probably a little rough naming Hammo here given he’s only worth $250k but I’ve been watching him closely now for 4 rounds and he’s just not hard enough at it. Both he and Henderson were ineffective last Saturday and when he does manage to take a mark in our forward line, more often than not, he’ll go back and spray it (he’s kicked 2.4 so far this year). In his 5th year with The Blues, I expect more.

  1. About henderson and hampson,
Both had shockers on the weekend and may have cost the blues the game. Hence the huge cheers when hendo was subbed off :I
for the time being i reckon henderson will get dropped for thornton next week(the T Bird kicked 4 in the VFL). And hampson will be omitted as soon as Kruuuuuzzzzzer is ready to rumble.
Henderson may have to find form in the vfl.
As an aside Betts will have to lift after not really performing much at all this year.
    What to you reckon Mottsy?

  2. Reckon you’re pretty much bang on, juddlow.

Incidentally, if you’ve got Foxtel, you might want to switch on Chooseday Night Footy. A young CJ from 02 getting around for the Eagles against the Crows.

  3. Hey motts how many trades do you think is a good amount to have at this stage? Are you able to do a poll to see where everyones at?

  4. 22 trades for me.

Being a Dons supporter I reckon that Henderson and Hampson should immediately be signed up for contract extensions. Seriously though you can’t blame just them. If Dempsey and Winderlich hadn’t gone down in the first quarter the whole Carlton side would be under the spotlight as they would have been done by 4-5 goals.

Personally I would blame Megan Gale for Hampson’s form. I probably wouldn’t turn up to play if I had her in my apartment.

  5. Sorry for the double up, i posted on the wrong thread.

Thoughts on WB Ruckman Ayce Cordy please?

Hasnt played a game yet , back from shoulder injury.

$110.000 , could he be a good option to downgrade to. Does anyone know if he will play a part this year for the Bulldogs.

    Thanks
