Motts Movers R5 – The Forwards

by Motts on April 30, 2010

The chaff:
Bob Murphy ($320,200 $-38,400 ($-33,600), 68.40) – Started the year of beautifully with a 130 against the Pies but since then has started to really stink it up. His last 3 games have yielded an average of 43. Yikes! Old injuries starting to flare up again? You be the judge.

Mark LeCras ($405,700 $-31,500 ($-42,700), 65.00) – Probably being a little harsh on The Ex Best Small Forward In The Competition (its now Eddie Betts!) His last score was a 13 and that has killed his average but in R3 he had a 98. Nevertheless, pull your finger out, Mark!

Warren Tredrea ($338,100 $-9,500 ($-82,300), 55.80) – The joy I get from seeing this guy fail is palpable. I couldn’t count on 2 hands the amount of dickhead things I have seen him do a footy field. Suffer in yer jocks, Wazza!

He hasn’t played 3 games yet but I gotta mention Robbie Gray here as well. His first 2 games have returned 70 and 48 meaning those who have him are about to lose a fair chunk of change. Ouch.

The wheat:

Heath Grundy ($479,800 $+25,500 ($+105,600), 107.20) – Just as you thought he may have been a flash in the pan when he scored a 68 in R4, he jumps back in R5 with a 132. At the beginning of the year Dream Team’s Mr Fantasy had this to say about him “not a high possession getter and I would look elsewhere”. Fail.

Alan Didak ($513,300 $+9,900 ($-45,300), 100.20) – The 54 he scored in R2 against Melbourne was an aberration – every other score has been in triple digits including a 125 last week against Essendon. I hate him but its hard to dislike those stats.

Ricky Petterd ($386,900 $+7,200 ($+19,500), 85.40) – His last price rise factored in the 41 he scored in R3 so if he can do reasonably well this week expect a big jump because in his last 2 games he’s scored 103 and 105. Gives away very few frees, kicks 2 goals a game, averages about 4 tackles a game. Nice, nice, nice.

Must also give some love this week to Adam Schneider (who is blossoming with no Roo around), Daniel Bradshaw (who is healthy and loving a change of scenery), and Eddie Betts (who has picked up the slack after the departure of you-know-who).

Anyone else out there want to throw the spotlight on a player?

What’s your thoughts on JB Mottsy, do we hold off the chop this week and see how he performs on the weekend or do we take a punt and cop a low score and see He’s price take a massive nosedive, I’m undecided.

I’m holding off. He’s a premium so he deserves one more week.

What about putting him on the pine ( Like someone did last week) if you have the coverage?

If I had the coverage, that’s what I’d do. Unfortunately a nasty accident took place in my forward line last night – Hitchcock, Petersen and Rockliff all had a piano that fell from above hit them and they had no coffee machines with which to bribe John Malkovich.

This is where DPP’s come into play.

That’s part of the reason I brought in Davis

Yeah, but who do you swap from front to back? Davis, and who else?

Waite and Grundy come to mind. Happy for any other suggestions.

Fair enough. Waite’s rubbish, but Grundy’s been turning it on.

Santa or Stevens could be options if your in a tight spot.

Might hold off on JB, but I’ve got Rockliff and Peterson in the reserves so I’m just going to have to wear the low score. He IS worth it though, as you say, he’s a premium.

Was going to try and make a grab for Juddy this week, but instead thinking I might be better off shoring up with some extra DPP options, as Gilbee and Grundy are both looking tempting.

I was in the same boat, trying to get Judd, but just out of my price. Thought about bring in didak due to DPP, but just couldn’t do it!

Brad you must put personal feelings aside Didak has had a very good year with only one poor score.DPP forwards are a little scarce compared to the backs.Pick up a preium while you have the coin.

Upgrade Martin early.. to Higgins, PAV or Stanton.. to cover Michells donut.. (Howlett is my other bench no help)

or go with the orginal plan to upgrade Seaby to Cox and live with a donut…

i’m leaning towards upgrading Martin early because I really want to beat the person I’m playing in my league, but think it will hurt me in the long term.. talk some sense into me please!!!

Yes a lot of out this week in my side also so a bit of shuffling was required.

Very glad to get Judd for Mitchell (Out two straight weeks) before the price rise and drafted in Petterd for Waite (who is bound to burn me) who has named on the extended bench two weeks running now and hasn’t played in three.

Here’s hoping they work out after a dismal team effort of 1994 last week!

My advice to everyone is don’t make unnecessary trades this week, unless you have a heap left. It’s only round 6 and I’ve already used up 5 and I don’t see any point in using trades this round unless of injury. As it has been mention in the past, it’s a marathon people not a 100m sprint.

Gotta re-iterate my love for houla, 77% efficency, 2 goals on weekend and 17 disposals = 109 points

The guy I’m hating on this week in the forward line is lecras, the guy has to step up this week. His 98 in rd three came from kicking 5 goals, you would expect more points from that?
