Motts Movers R5, 2012 – The Forwards

Written by Motts on April 30 2012

Is it any wonder that most of the top scoring forwards are M/F DPP’s? I’ve dedicated the entire Forwards edition this week to those blokes who hold down 2 jobs. Every single player below bar one is a M/F DPP.

Premiums

Jordan Lewis ($523,700, 104, 110) – I’ve said enough about him the last 2 weeks. Gun.

Adam Goodes ($562,000, 103.50, 128) – Showing no signs of slowing down. Watched him kick 3 sausage rolls against the Hawks yesterday and was again blown away by how good he still is.

Midpricers

Clancee Pearce ($429,600, 85.20, 59) – His last 4 scores have been 96, 116, 113, 86.

Allen Christensen ($410,600, 86.40, 16) – Rewarding those SCTTL coaches who persevered with him. Last 2 scores: 123 and 107.

Patrick Dangerfield ($476,700, 103.20, 54) – was quietly getting the job done with 4 90-something scores in a row and then went a little cray-cray for 141 against the Power.

Steele Sidebottom ($491,400, 99.80, 78) – must also be mentioned – hasn’t missed the ton in his last 4 games.

Mitch Robinson ($489,900, 91.00, 106) also rates a shout out (a) because he’s averaged 103 in his last 3 and (b) because he’ll probably go stupid against the Giants this week. Might even kill someone.

Luke Power ($466,900, 97.50, 29) has been playing well but I just can’t recommend him to you because of his age. I may change my mind but want to see more.

Value Picks

Darren Pfeiffer ($126,700, 62, -48)on the bubble this week. Has scored 64 and 60 in his first 2 games.

Adam Treloar ($171,300, 66.33, -23) – you should have him by now but if not, this is probably your last chance.

Shaun McKernan ($272,700, 84, -4) – not as cheap as a 1st year rookie but won’t struggle for games and scored 101 against the Power. Is the only one on this list who isn’t a M/F DPP but will work in well if you have Smedts because he’s  D/F DPP!

Couple of others that I have to mention this week that aren’t DPP’s:

Charlie Dixon ($196,200) burst onto the scene with a 91 in his first game. Watch.

Jeremy Cameron ($182,400, 57.5, -22) kicked 5 against the Dogs in Canberra for a 114 game. Woah!

  1. Quite happy i grabbed Sidebottom for the Anzac Day game. Devon with be getting the old heave-ho this week …. unless there’s some significant injuries i need to trade.

  2. Good to see a mention for McKernan. With Maric gone and Tippet a key in the crows fwd structure, he should get a chance to shine as a ruck/fwd. IMO will definately improve on his 2011 average and well worth a punt..
    good spot motts!

  3. Agree Ollie, but at that price he is hard to ignore. And surely he will be averaging more than Porps by season end?

  4. You have got me second guessing myself now! If Porps and either d.smith/hall/zorko are named on Thursday, I may hold off on this upgrade for another week or two. Let Porps’ wallet grow a bit fatter.

  5. I can’t believe everyones jumpn on Stevie j! Are you all that confident of him bouncing back to his best? Looks uninterested in his games

  6. SJ will belt out a massive one in the next couple weeks. Strikes me as a confidence type player and they have some pretty soft games coming up. Would not be surprised to see a 130+ against the Dees.

Ideally he should do it next week 😉

  7. Justin Sherman ($366,300, 98, 20) totally should’ve got a mention today too – surprised you didn’t pick me up on that one, PA – M/F DPP on the bubble.

  8. And while I’m at it, Matthew Wright ($372,300, 91, 38) is another late inclusion. Also M/F DPP on the bubble.

  9. So I’ve got 19 trades left.. happy with it for now but do I burn a trade to make a 100k and potentially get more from my new rookie? That would be trading Smith for Pfeifer…

yeah, 100k is worth a trade – thumbs up

no way, trade is more valuable – thumbs down

  10. Christensen was the one I liked pre-season, before becoming concerned about his limited pre-season. He still represents good value.

  11. What do we think of varcoe and kerridge as a trade targets for my cashcows milera and hall.

Varcoe is 3 weeks away when I think the cows will ready for harvest

  12. Harvey, Cloke and Chapman are looking like possible up grade targets in a couple of weeks… signifigant price drops for all of them

  13. Time to kick Fyfe to the curb, I reckon. Options as I see it are:

    Thumbs Up – Jordan Lewis
    Thumbs Down – Steele Sidebottom

Makes me sad inside that this is technically an upgrade…
