Motts Movers R5 – The Mids

Written by Motts on April 28 2010

No surprises that all three of these blokes are playing in very ordinary teams.

Jason Winderlich ($423,300 $-28,400 ($-90,400), 67.60) – You probably won’t believe this but Winterdick averaged 96 points a game last year. Wouldn’t you be ropeable if you’d taken a punt on him? Some would say he’s a bargain at this price but I’m not going near him.

Brent Reilly ($351,400 $-12,500 ($-55,500), 66.80) – Gave everybody hope when he kicked off the year with an 89 but since then has had three scores in the 50s. Tackling a lot but giving away a lot of frees.

Richard Tambling ($337,800 $-50,100 ($-137,800), 56.40) – Averaged close to 90 in 2009 in what was his 5th year at Punt Rd so we naturally all expected him to step up. He hasn’t. In R1 he had a 94 but since then a couple of 30’s including last weekend’s 34 have seen his price plummet.

On the other side of the ledger, GAJ is a gun and saved a lot of peoples’ scores with his ordinary (if you listen to Bomber) game last round that netted him 171 and many of us 342. The other blokes that played crackers on the weekend were:

Michael Barlow ($329,000, $+39,300 ($+217,600), 111.60) – Just the lazy 132 for Barlow last week. I’m sure everybody who reads this website already has him but if you don’t by now, there’s still time to get on him before he caps out.

Ryan Griffen ($531,500 $+15,600 ($+60,700), 109.80) – Still making me cranky after I missed his breakout year by 12 months. Has had a 66 and an 86 which makes him a little flaky but everything else has been up around 130 including the weekend’s 129. Coming up has St Kilda, Melbs and Sydney which will test him.

Bryce Gibbs ($537,500 $-3,600 ($-31,100), 107.80) – Proud to say I’ve got him. Has only one score under 100 – a 97 – and looks to be getting better if Sunday’s 122 is anything to go by. I for one am expecting a blinder from him against the Pies this week.

Got to give a special mention to Jack Trengove who used the fact I traded him out last week as impetus to score 129 and JKT who got a 96. Both providing great value.

Other midfielders to keep an eye on this week because their values haven’t changed yet are Chris Judd (145.50 average in 2 games), Colin Sylvia (116.50 average in 2 games), Brad Sewell (123 in 1 game), and Nathan Foley (127 in 1).

  1. Looking at trading out danger for a premium in Judd before he goes up in value, will need to cash in silvani for hams to get him and will leave me with 12 trades left, is this a bad plan? Hams will be on the pine.

  2. Same happened to me on the Trengove performance decided that because I traded him he would perform to rub it in further the bloke I bring in for him has an absolute Barry Crocker and scores 56… and I brought him in as a premium!
Similar shout out to D Martin first time all season I put him on the pine and cranks out a 100 pointer!

    1. thanks, Rock and Pav sound good.
but are you sure that rock will play every game for the rest of the season (unless he gets injured)
Or will he be struggling to stay in brisbane’s 22 each week?

    1. i’d have a long think on one hand you could bring in Judd or Sylvia before thier prices increase or you could give it another week, and bring in Foley if he continues his form

  10. I have a big game this week against the winner of the league last year, which trade will get me more points this week. Or is there a better option I’m not thinking of.

    J. Hunt and M Seaby for P. Davis and Cox

    or

J.Hunt and J. Zeibell for P. Davis and Pav

  11. Motts,

What do you think about the faithful captain Judd? Worth using a trade and getting him in before the price rise? Do you know what would the expected increase in value be?
My midfield (Cooney, GAJ, Barlow, Walker, Martin, J Trengrove, Emerg – Boyd, Bastinac) is going ok but cant go past him and always performs…

    Plus being a Blues supporter….So torn….

      1. Well Walks is out for at least 4 so you’re going to have to make a trade. If you’ve got the cash I’d say grab him – he’s got fresh legs and looks like he has something to prove this year.

  12. Motts,

i was wondering who would be the better option to trade in for the forward line out of Rockliff and Phil Davis

i’m trading out dangerman for either Rockliff or Davis then trading medhurst for Pav.

had some extra cash in the bank and can afford the trade,
    any thoughts?

        1. there is a few things to take into account like who will mark who
i gather PODS will be marked by Thursfield while Davis will probably go with Hartlett or Thomas, Geelong should get lots of the ball down thier way why the crows should be clearing thier defence quite a lot and they will be looking for Davis to provide the run.
remeber all the key forwards have scored big when they have played Rich with the exception of BBBB
and Port are very good at putting pressure on teams running out of thier own defence, with that in mind i would go for PODS
