Motts Movers R16 – The Backs

Written by Motts on July 11 2011

Thrillers

Brendon Goddard ($473,300, 108, 105.36, 61) – Welcome back BJ.

Nathan Bock ($411,400, 87, 86.00, 91) – Small injury worry this week – wait for the all clear before bringing him in.

Heath Shaw ($411,200, 119, 100.86, 63) – Struggled whenever he attracted a back tag last year but for whatever reason opponents aren’t hitting him with one in 2011.

Honourable mentions: Bryce Gibbs, Harry Taylor, and Heath Scotland.

Chillers

Matthew Broadbent

Jake King

Nick Malceski

Drillers

Josh Gibson ($392,800, 130, 90.00, 76) – Given the Hawks’ luck he could get injured any minute. I’m giving him props but I’d avoid him.

Xavier Ellis ($314,100, 111, 75.20, 24) – Hasn’t played since R7 so you could either see him as (a) fresh or (b) injury prone. In addition to that, see the notes on Gibson, Josh.

Andrew Raines ($290,600, 74, 55.11, 24) – Started the year like a donkey but must have been playing hurt because he went away for 6 weeks and has come back and gone bang, bang, bang. Last 3 rounds: 101, 105, 74.

Special mentions: Bret Thornton, Jimmy Gwilt, Pearce Hanley, Dyson Heppell, Marty Mattner, Danny Stanley, Paul Puopolo, Andrew Hooper (on the bubble after 59 & 66), Joel Wilkinson (83 in his 3rd game), Matt Spangher (85 in his first game for the Swans, $286k), and Ashley Smith.

  1. Never thought I would see Rains as a driller, good on him.
BTW Houli is a mid. He will probably be a back next year.

  2. Will I need to get Gibbs out in Rd 23?
    (only have 3 trades left)

    Current Backs
Gibbs, Fisher, Shaw, Goddard, Deledio, Broughton, Murphy R
    (Heppell, Puopolo, Talia, McKernan (DEF/FOR))

I reckon I’ll play Heppell for Gibbs then swap back for the Granny.

  3. Next week im bringing in my last premium defender.

    What would you guys suggest.
    Shaw or fisher?

Fisher got shut down by cornes on the weekend but thats not going to happen every week and obviously shaw can go ass up with a tag aswell.

    Back line looks like this

Goddard,Gibbs,Adcock,Enright,Newman,Deledio, plus either of the above 2.

Im thinking fisher but shaw could be a little bit of a pod…

  5. my backline is definitly my weaklink,
Goddard, Gibbs, Delidio, Enright, +cock, duffield, hibberd, R Murphy, Lower

Only 4 premiums is killing me, will bring in shaw (probs this week) and fisher (next week) to strengthen, but who should i trade out?

I’m thinking +cock or lower, any thoughts, anyone?
