Motts Movers R6, 2013 – The Backs

Written by Motts on May 6 2013

Premiums

Harry Taylor ($520,900, +$55,900, 98, 74) – Averaging 116 over his last 4 matches after starting the year off with a 78 and a 44. Faces Essendon, Collingwood and Port in the next 3 weeks.

Michael Hibberd ($499,800, +$104,700, 105.5, 58) – Sneaks into the Premiums with a price just shy of $500k. Hasn’t scored less than 90 all year and in his last 4 has averaged 113. Geelong, Brisbane and Richmond to come.

Heath Shaw ($504,400, -$36,900, 97.2, 45) – Gets a guernsey for his last 2 weeks: 130 and 125. Went up $20k last week and will shoot up again this week so if you want him, grab him now. Freo, Geelong and Sydney coming up.

Midpricers

Ryan Lester ($327,200, 120.5, -46) – Has only played 2 games but scored 111 (in R2 against Adelaide) and 130 (in R6 against Sydney). Bit of a risk but to the brave go the spoils. West Coast, Essendon, and Carlton next.

Brent Reilly ($478,800, -$15,400, 91.17, 74) – Had a bit of a shaky start scoring between 72 and 80 in the first 3 weeks but since then has gone 108, 89, and then 122 last week. Has some good opportunities coming up against GWS, the Saints and North.

Luke McPharlin ($355,300, -$71,000, 69.8, 19) – I’m all about the value here in the Midpricers section and nowhere is it better evidenced than with Lukey Mac. Scored 55 in R1, 100 in R2 then went off with concussion and a score of 0 in R3 against the Dons so his price copped a belting. Only now is it out of his calculations hence the rock bottom BE. And what has he scored since coming back? 90 and 104.

Rookies

Nick Vlastuin ($159,500, 55.5, -18) – 44 in his first game and 72 in his second. Tough competitor with big raps on him with Port, Melbourne and Essendon ahead of him.

Justin Clarke ($115,900, 51.5, -34) – Unlike V-Power, Clarkey can’t blame the vest on either of his scores of 40 and 63. Only consider if you can’t stump up the extra $40k for Vlas.

There just isn’t anyone else who played last week that I could put my hand on my heart and recommend to you. So keep an eye on the teams for Rory Laird ($115,900, 56.5, -50) and Sam Docherty ($115,900, 54, -45).

  1. Well done Motts!
I was thinking Hayden Crozier, what about him?
Birch is going down in price over the next few weeks so might snag him soon.
    Trades this week:
Dwyer – Thomas (Possibly most traded in player this week, thomas)
    Heath – Vlas

Overall, great writeup Motts. Looking forward to the others soon 🙂 Missed ya last week buddy.

  2. Vlastuin wasn’t vested when he scored 44 – he played the whole game. Helbig and Nahas were the subs that game.

  3. Great to see you back into the write ups Mottsy boy. There are some players that just look good when they play, have more time than others, go in for the hard ball and stay composed….. and I reckon Hibberd is one of them. I almost took a punt at seasons start based on the way he was playing, but I thought sometimes it doesn’t translate into SC scores (see Scarlett) so opted not to.

  4. Good write up Motts, good to have you back.

Looking at Vlas in but Docherty is cheaper with a higher BE. Having said that he was the sub in the last game and Vlas has avoided the vest thus far. Who to pick Vlas or the Doc?

  5. Hey guys, was wondering what to do with Koby Stevens? He’s had two solid outings for the last 2 games with 80+ scores and is approaching the $300 price range. His BE is only 12, which is really tempting me to hold him until it gets much higher, since the gap between his AVG and BE is fairly high.

    Thumbs Up – Keep Koby
Thumbs Down – Sell and get the cash

  6. What’s everyone’s thoughts on trading Birchall to free up some cash given he’s going to dip soon?

I haven’t seen the Hawks last two games so not sure if he’s had any change to his game-play or just the fact that he’s been heavily tagged impacting his scores.

Only downside is that Hawks have some potentially easier games coming up after their match up against the Swannies.

Thumbs up to trade him and thumbs down to keep him.

  7. Hi. I’m looking to fill my D6 position. I’ve already got Hanley, birchall, Goddard, heppel and malckeski.
    I’m think either:
    Harbrow (135, 92, $442,400) thumbs up
    Hurn (118, 91, $461,200) thumbs down
