Motts Movers R6 – The Backs

Written by Motts on May 2 2011

Thrillers

Brett Deledio ($481,300, 119, 107.17, 116) – A 119 average over the last three rounds definitely puts this handy DPP at the top of the tree. Got some tough games ahead of him though: Freo, Dogs, and Dons before he’ll have a day out against Port and then have a week off in R11.

Heath Shaw ($450,200, 116, 102.67, 87) – Proving all the doubters wrong by averaging in the triple digits. Has the bye this week and then Geelong in R8 so I’d hold fire on him for the moment but after that he plays Adelaide, West Coast, St Kilda and then Melbourne before Collingwood have their last bye for the year in R13.

Robert Murphy ($377,000, 112, 93.40, 106) – Bob has only played 22 games in a season twice in his 11 year career – the last time in 2005 so its understandable coaches might be a little iffy about him . But the 51,246 people who have him in their teams are overlookiing that fact and riding the Bob Train and his 93 average all the way to Happy Town.

Chillers

Brian Lake ($444,700, 44, 63.67, 200)

Lindsay Gilbee ($420,300, 53, 75.0, 167)

Bryce Gibbs ($413,600, 69, 94.83, 132)

Drillers

Luke Thompson ($184,100, 126, 92.33, -75) – All those that got on him after I put his name up in lights last week were singing his praises on Saturday night after he posted the second highest Back score for the week – 126. If you didn’t grab him last week, you can still get him cheap this week – your late decision cost you $80k though.

Jack Hutchins ($110,200, 61, 39.5, -2) – Didn’t watch the game but heard Huddo talking him up on SEN after it. The only thing that worries me about him is Bluey’s rotational policy and it might be a bit of overload if you’ve already got one or two of Stanley, Toy and Coad back there.

Ashley Smith ($323,600, 100, 100, NA) – One game for one ton. Keep an eye on him this week.

Graham Johncock ($424,000, 76, 79.40, 85) – Has dropped almost $70k which I think makes him a bargain at this price. Had a 134 against Carlton a couple of weeks ago.

  2. I will be jumping on Lake once his price drops down to $350k – $375k and when he hits some form, 44 isn’t a great score but it was raining so he’s forgiven for that result, just.

  3. Duigan to Johncock is tempting, thoughts? Would have to downgrade a midfielder to do it, any info on M Wright?

Could also wait a week and jump on Hibberd

  4. Is it just me, or does it piss off anyone else that the last 2 weekly winners have been teams playing for the 1st time this year??? Understand you’ve still gotta pick the right players, but with byes and injuries, it’s just too much of an advantage! And b4 anyone asks, I don’t have time to put in a 2nd team (& wouldn’t want too anyway)…

  5. Need some thoughts…

    OUT: C. Richardson
IN: T. Muzungu (keeping in mind I have Matera and Darling on the pine who are playing regularly, 3rd bench spot isn’t/will not be used all year, hopefully)

    Then…

    OUT: Goodes/Riewoldt
    IN: Pavlich

  7. What about Duigan to L Thompson this week?
Then with spare cash can trade Laidler to Shaw after R8?

    Good idea – thumbs up
    Bad idea – thumbs down

  8. Should Duigan now be considered as a downgrade or an upgrade?

I’ve $200k after the Thompson trade as I’m sure others will have too.

    Are you doing:
    Duigan – Enright/Adcock etc… (thumbs up)
    Duigan – Hibberd (thumbs down)

  10. Do you think it’s too late to grab Fyfe? How much further will he rise in price and do you think he can hold his current average? If you take that one low score of 49 out, he is averaging 137.25. I am on the verge of trading Petrie out for him..

    Any advice?

  11. Its true though isnt it, rocca really cant kick it that straight. i think they need to use his big frame up the ground to establish better dominance around the stoppages. let bucks get to the free throw line and earn some confidence there, otherwise hird will just keep finding lloyd on the chest all day in the endzone.

  12. So what’s the plan with old Duigan? Can I grab some advice on the trade?

Backs currently sit @ Deledio, Enright, Newman, Goddard, Heppel, Duigan, Thompson, Toy, Coad, Puopolo.

Wouldn’t mind another premium in there.. or do I drop back to another rookie just now? Any help’s appreciated.

  13. Yeah thanks guys, tough call.

Sounds like Petrie should go up more in price than Fyfe so waiting another week may not be such a bad thing..?

Or should I trade one of these to get Fyfe now, and if so which one?
    Knights
    Krakouer
    Petrie
    Swallow
    Curnow
    Heppel
    Libba

  14. I have a 2 week plan that I need a thumbs up or thumbs down for. This week trade Duigan and Zac Smith for Watson/Pederson/Cripps and who cares really as I have Petrie/JTippet DPP. The following week I then trade Atley for Hibbered and Harris for SWANNIE. Is it worth it to go for Swan or should I go for a more Hodge/Fyfe instead of Hibbered/Swan?

  15. I’ll tell you what hurts, trading out Krakouer and Knights in the same week and they end up pumping out 120s! Having said that, JRoo did score fairly well and hopefully he’ll end up being worth it.

  20. Hey guys your thoughts would be great,
Ive got a 2 week trading plan, obviously i will wait until teams but just so i can plan ahead, are these good trades?

    THIS WEEK:

    David Swallow-Sam Illes
I think that Sam will improve and i can pocket the 200k and use it next week. I also dont think i should have more that 2 suns when coming to their round 9 bye.

    Andrew Krakouer – Mitch Wallis
Since Krakouer has his bye and Wallis will only get better, Why not pocket 170k

    NEXT WEEK

    Curnow- Pendlebury
Pendlebury will have had his first bye and Curnow will have his bye in round 8 so i can cash him in for about 370k. I also dont think Curnow needs to be held for much longer because Ratten was saying he will need to rest come midyear.

Libba- Nick Dal Santo, Matt Priddis or Scott Tompson
Libba will be at 300 k and i will pick one of those three guys as HALF PODS.

I am not getting rid of Duigan yet because there is no really good downgrade options with great JS except Tompson but he has gone up to much for my liking.

    GOOD TRADES- THUMBS UP

    BAD TRADES- THUMBS DOWN

    cheers guys
ps: sorry for double post it just was a big effort writing that and i want some opinions!

  21. Andy Otten, who reported knee soreness late last week, visited his specialist on Monday and will now start a short rehabilitation program. He is expected to miss between one to three weeks.

  22. Guys I just found out a bit about Greg Broughton. THis is from the Freo website:

“Defender Greg Broughton, who missed the Anzac Day clash with back soreness, trained lightly on Monday night but is expected to return to face the Tigers,”

That’s good news! Wont trade him now!

  23. Hey guys, i want to upgrade hurley to a prem back this week.
IYO will adcock keep his form up?
Or should I opt for a “safer” option and go with lids?

Dont know much about the brizzy boys, is jed scoring well because someone else is out or has he just taken his game to another level?

    Cheers
