Motts Movers R6 – The Mids

Written by Motts on May 2 2011

Thrillers

Chris Judd ($507,700, 154, 114.17, 90) – Pretty hard not to put Juddy in here after a game he was compared to the best of all time in. Just can’t sanction a trade for him because he has a bye in R8 you’ll be benching him in R23 when you need him most. If you’ve got trades to burn though, $500k is EXTREMELY attractive for a player of Judd’s calibre.

Nick Dal Santo ($509,900, 150, 114.0, 118) – Tough to split Dal and Judd this week. In a game when so many of his cohorts were nowhere to be seen, Dal smashed a ton and a half. Impressive. And he’s only missed three digits once this year. Got some tough games coming up though: Blues, Hawks, Dees (not this game), Freo (away), Pies, Dogs, and Cats. Gee, how much trouble are the Saints in?

Matt Priddis ($529,400, 142, 123.6, 93) – I’m really starting to wish I’d picked Matty in my original team. Consider this: his average per game places him above names like Pendlebury, Boyd, Watson, Chapman, Judd and Mitchell. Looking for a POD? Try this guy on for size. Absolute gun. R.E.S.P.E.C.T.

Chillers

Adam Selwood ($368,100, 68, 68.0, 125)

Tom Logan ($336,600, 29, 63.67, 150)

Alan Didak ($381,300, 66, 71.67, 155)

Drillers

Cale Morton ($349,100, 47, 54.67, 96) – It’s a big call given his last game but cracked 100 the week before and the week before that was used as a sub. I admit it’s a risk but this is a guy who averaged 84 in 2009 when he played 21 games and 80 over 10 games in 2010. He just took a $42k hit this week – that makes him good value. And 96 is definitely an achievable BE.

David Ellard ($294,100, 104, 105.0, -5) – Has played 2 games in the last 2 weeks and scored 106 and 104. That makes him pretty secure in his job and about to go through the roof. Wanna make some quick cash? Word of warning: he’s got the bye in R8.

Daniel Harris ($264,700, 75, 83.60, 3) – Its not too late if you don’t yet have him. As one of the mature-age players at GCS he’ll get a game every week. Has cracked the ton twice already this year.

Other special mentions (that I didn’t write about so as not to steal Big Sexy’s thunder): Matthew Wright, Sam Iles, Michael Hibberd, and Ben Speight.

  1. I have a 2 week plan that I need a thumbs up or thumbs down for. This week trade Duigan and Zac Smith for Watson/Pederson/Cripps and who cares really as I have Petrie/JTippet DPP. The following week I then trade Atley for Hibbered and Harris for SWANNIE. Is it worth it to go for Swan or should I go for a more Hodge/Fyfe instead of Hibbered/Swan?

  2. Dugain to L Thompson good move. Frees up plenty of cash and gives potential to earn more money as Thomos BE is -75

  3. Motts great article I was just wondering if you could get a poll up on how many trades used after a week of chaos.

And I was wondering what round people think there team will be complete I’m aiming at the start of round 14 at this point in time.

  4. Thought I smack this post in here also seeing as its for mids (apologies):

KoJack and Ward must go this week (with Swan on the pine) so I can bring in a couple of keepers. Joelwood is definitely one. The rest of mids are Swallow, Harris, Juddington, Heppell, Irons & Bewick. I’m thinking:

    Mitchell (thumbs up)
    S.Thompson (thumbs down)

Leaning towards Mitchell but only because I’m a Hawks man.

    Any thoughts appreciated.

  5. Got 375,000 in the bank, looking at the following trades over the next two weeks;
    This Week:
    – Rioli to Jack R
    – Harris to Chapman
    Next Week:
    – Otten to Hibberd
    – Swallow to Swan
Let me know what you reckon…

  6. Need a little help here people .. Is it too late to trade in Fyfe ? It just seems alot of money and I know he’s scoring really well but i fear because hes not a proven big scorer yet that when i get him in his average will start to slide

  7. I would have thought it is too early to trade Rioli?
But JRoo looks a good price to buy now. Does it matter he still has 2 byes?

  8. Honourable mention to Nathan Foley who pumped out 40 possies and 143 points – according to FFGenie, 113 people traded him out last week.

  9. Hey guys your thoughts would be great,
Ive got a 2 week trading plan, obviously i will wait until teams but just so i can plan ahead, are these good trades?

    THIS WEEK:

    David Swallow-Sam Illes
I think that Sam will improve and i can pocket the 200k and use it next week. I also dont think i should have more that 2 suns when coming to their round 9 bye.

    Andrew Krakouer – Mitch Wallis
Since Krakouer has his bye and Wallis will only get better, Why not pocket 170k

    NEXT WEEK

    Curnow- Pendlebury
Pendlebury will have had his first bye and Curnow will have his bye in round 8 so i can cash him in for about 370k. I also dont think Curnow needs to be held for much longer because Ratten was saying he will need to rest come midyear.

Libba- Nick Dal Santo, Matt Priddis or Scott Tompson
Libba will be at 300 k and i will pick one of those three guys as HALF PODS. 🙂

I am not getting rid of Duigan yet because there is no really good downgrade options with great JS except Tompson but he has gone up to much for my liking.

    GOOD TRADES- THUMBS UP

    BAD TRADES- THUMBS DOWN

    cheers guys 🙂

  11. When Rocket Eade on tonight’s ‘On the Couch’ was put the question that Lake is off the pace & not giving 2nd & 3rd efforts stated that they will assess whether he needs to go back to Williamstown for a couple of weeks. Just so no-one trades Duigan for Lake prior to Friday. Eade also hinted that Libba & Wallis will continue to receive ‘experience’ (i read this as good for JS). I have Libba not not 100% sold on Wallis yet over current CC’s.

  12. Good day to you all,

This may be a stupid question, but … why does everyone appear to be so fixated on getting Chapman this round? I understand that he’s a proven performer (and that many of us left him out originally due to the suspected injury), but is it really worth getting him in now considering:

    – He has a BYE in the 2nd round of the Finals
    – Many of us already have 1-2 Geelong players on our team

Would adding another Geelong player (that you would have to either bench or trade for the finals) be a good idea? Surely other options are available for the forward line (Pav, Fyfe, etc).

    Thoughts?

  13. I’m bringing in Joelwood this week, and if I could also Chappy (not enough moulah). On that theory DJ you would have to wait until rd 14 to trade in someone of any real value unless it wals Gablett. Agree with PA. Smart traders will have enough prems coverage for finals. Just have to take a risk on Chappy’s fitness.

  14. Also – Is it worth hanging out for Hodge this year in the mids? It wont be long before he is in the 400’s??

  15. Anyone else think it’s time to trade out Higgins? He’s been feeling sore in the same spots as last year apparently and I can’t help but worry about him missing games regularly from this point on. The risk was always there, but now thinking I might take the $40,000 increase and the 100 ppg and upgrade him with the cash gained from Otten > Thompson to a fit and durable gun midfielder. Plenty to choose from: Priddis looks to be the optimal pick at this stage though. (Hasn’t dropped below the ton yet and averaging 123.6 with a breakeven of 93, not to mention a great differential in 2.26% of teams) Losing midfield/forward DPP is only possible downside. Like or dislike the idea?

  18. Whats the word on Sam Iles? I know that he was b/f winner lst year at the club but was he injured for the first few games or something?

With so many people interested, I guess his JS is really strong?

  19. Duigan down to Hibberd, then Higgins up to Priddis?

Or wait a week and then Higgins up to Pendles?

    Already have Swan.
