Motts Movers R7, 2013 – The Backs

Written by Motts on May 15 2013

Premiums

Shannon Hurn ($486,100, 94.14,60) – His first 3 tons of the year have come consecutively against Port, The Dogs and Brisbane. No reason to think he won’t keep it going against North, GWS, Richmond and St Kilda before his bye in R12.

Brent Reilly ($497,800, 95.29, 55) – Since R4 has scored 108, 89, 122 and 120 completely justifying his selection in my SC Draft Team. R13 bye.

Heath Shaw ($526,200, 97.33, 92) – I gotta include him because of his last 3 weeks (130, 125 and 98) but after punching Ballantyne in the crown jewels (I don’t think anyone’s ever punched Balla there before) he’ll be sitting out this week so do NOT bring him in.

Midpricers

Brandon Ellis ($348,700, 60.86, 22) – If you brought Brandon in after his first 4 rounds you’re a psychic. After starting the season with scores of 35, 35, 6, and 31 you could’ve picked him up for $220k. He then strolled onto Subi in R5 and scored 134 against Freo, before bashing out an 82 against the Cats, and then heads over to Adelaide and eases his way to 103 against Port. Peptides. There I said it.

Garrick Ibbotson ($426,000, 106.33, 19) – Only been playing since Round 5 but in 3 matches has scored 83, 94 and 142. You just missed him before his first price rise of $37.5k

Lachie Henderson ($396,800, 78.86, 13) – The guy the Blues got in the Fevola trade is really starting to hit his straps and I for one am loving it. 80, 113 and 111 in his last 3. What’s helping his scores is the Blues are swinging him forward and he’s kicking goals. That may change with Waite coming back so perhaps waite (see what I did there?) and see what happens but he deserves a mention.

Special Mention: Lucas Markovic ($272,300, 100) – played his first game in R7 and tonned it up.

Keeping it short so I can get all the Movers posts out before R8 so no rookie selections this week. Run your eyeballs over BS’s excellent Rookie Review instead.

  2. im thinking about ibbotson….
my trades before this thought where going to be hartlett – hanley(cardinal sin)(underperformer)
    and wines – priddis
    with 379K left in bank
but then i read this and thought hold on a minute…..
keep hartlett(and hope that port coaches put him off half back/through the mid)
    and trade stevenson – ibbotson
    wines – priddis
    with 159K left in bank.

so thumbs up ditch hartlett(he’s had more than his fair chance, cant handle a tag, port dont know how to best use him) and pick up probably the best backman so far this year.
    OR
keep the shadey hartlett and cop his dodgy scores(b/e 218 if he gets yet another 40 down 100k).
    and trade stevenson – ibbotson

please help i am really stuck on this

  3. Don’t think Ellis needed peptides, he just needed to rid the curse of the subs vest! Bought him two weeks ago as a short term cash cow, but his recent exploits have him staying in my team a little longer than first thought. Nearly a straight swap for Birchall If the timing is right!

  4. Footy community I need help!!
In a bit of dilemma of who to trade for priddis

    Hartlett to priddis
    Or
    Burgoyne to priddis

Both struggling, I think hartlett might come good soon
And Burgoyne has been averaging way below his usual
