Motts Movers R7 – The Forwards

by Motts on May 17, 2012

Time to tell me who’s performances in the forward line have had things stirring in your nether regions. Premiums, Midpricers and Value Picks.

I’ll just say that Paul Chapman at $500k is cheap, cheap, cheap this week.

Loving Dangerfield’s output this year. Also, Sidebum is in some stellar form at the moment too. Buyer beware though. Thomas is likely to return and MAY effect Sidebum’s scoring potential.

Hard to ignore Kurt Tippet’s average this year. With Walker out for a couple of weeks he could be in for some good scores as the crows will look for him more.
That said, I won’t be riding that rollercoaster again. He is still liable to put in a regular stinker.

He’s been known to be too inconsistent and while he is going well this year I don’t think it will last.

At least with Walker in, the opposition defence had to spread between the two of them…..He may now go down if he attracts the attention of all the premium defenders.

For me he’s been one of those players, like Stanton, that i don’t trust to keep up the great scores and trade them in, but they prove me wrong every week!

I wanted to bring in Zaka and Stevie J this week but couldn’t quite swing it $$ wise so I traded out Porps and brought in Lewis.
Stevie I think is on the up in a big way but will still be a little inconsistent for a few more rounds but look for him to start clicking into gear after the byes.
Zaka will be a goer as long as the Bombers are on fire which, according to everyone else but Bombers supporters, will be on struggle street by round 17 when they are “tired” and have a extremely hard run into the finals.

Can’t help to say that Fyfe to Pavlich has been the best move for me this year. Are there any EX premium forwards who have high breakevens with lowering prices??

ROK perhaps? $446,100 with BE of 106.
Maybe his best is behind him…..or maybe he will fire later in the season.

I really haven’t even thought about my forwards much in the trade up sense because most of the forwards I have like Adams, Treloar, Kennedy, are gaining money steadily and puttin up half decent scores. I have 470k in the bank with other forwards being Cloke, Dangerfield, Martin and Franklin. Any suggestions on possible trades to watch in the future? Chappy has been on my mind heavily because he just has a knack of getting himself into the game. But I only have 14 trades now after being in Heath Shaw for Brodie Smith from the crows.

This week was meant to be an easy trade week given the quality that’s starting to show around the ground (not just in the middle) and the cash that’s floating around from past downgrades and present cows.

However, i just can’t swing my preferred trades of Kennedy – Zaha & Ellis to Birchall.

So was thinking of:
T/U Milera – Zaha and wait a week or two for Fisher or Hibberd to bottom out / return from injury
or
T/D Milera – Zaha & Ellis – Duffield

I Could also trade Mohr (despite his low BE) instead of Ellis and get someone better(?) than Duffield. Any thoughts?

Have done Porps & Ellis to Zaha & Birchall.
Happy with that.

I’ve a feeling though Porps could get a biggie soon

Porps to Zaha a good move?

Same thoughts on Porps due for a biggie. Especially with Taylor Walker out for 2 weeks. A score of 90+ would get his price moving again.

The porpoise will be the last player I trade out of my forward line barring a LTI. He has guaranteed game time and while his scores have been a bit disappointing he will still average as well as the rookie forwards and has a much higher ceiling (supposedly).

Could be worth going Ellis to Birchall and letting Kennedy graze for another week and hopefully give you enough to get whoever you are after next week.

Premiums
Steele Sidebottom: $548,000 Avg:112.3 Last 4:113,104,131,162 BE:48
This guy is in sensational form and seems to be relishing the extra midfield time and at that price is a bargain. Sidebottom has only score under the ton once this year. So if you want a very consistant performer that gets the job done grab him before his price rises any more.
Lance Franklin $534,100 Avg:11.6 Last 4:89,72,131,140 BE:55
Buddy is a freak theres know other word to describe him.If Buddy tears it up it usually leads to a Hawks win his last 2 weeks in paricular have been Buddy at his best only problem is his goalkicking accuracy which if he fixes that look out. Has scored 4 tonnes for the year.
Mid Pricers
David Zaharakis $483,800 Avg:97.9 Last 4:75,113,110,133 BE:55
Zaka is backing up from last years B&F and is having another great year he wont win it this year but if he keeps up this form i expect him to be in the Bombers top 5 has scored 4 tonnes this year and i just jumped on him this week.
Stuwart Crameri $474,400 Avg:100.9 Last 4:131,46,100,108 BE:81
I thought id chuck this guy in because he has a good average and take away that 46 and his form looks very impressive has scored under the ton only twice this year. If your not keen on him this year could be a player to watch for next year.
Value pick
Paul Chapman $506,200 Avg:99.4 Last 4:103,96,122,106 BE:80
A bargain at this price has only had one poor score and that was 57 vrs the Kangas evry other score has been 90+ including 4 tonnes.

On a close call like this one, i always plump for the club captain but up to you. He has been off colour this season for my mind, but if his knee is ok after last weeks knock & strapping then Pav has loads of upside. Like Goddard last year, he just quietly does his stuff well & picks up good scores even when he does not break the game apart.

If anyone has had Tommy Walsh (Swans) sitting on the forwards bench, you may as well keep him for at least another week. He is making his debut this week v the Dees so you may as well see if he flukes a good score & can get some JS. Would not suggest you jump on & certainly not yet, but personally hope the lad does well as i loved watching him in the Int’l Rules.

Then it will give me enough to go Shiel to Gaz next week

mmm. Interesting one. It is certainly feasible that both could score the same over the next few rounds. I also took the chance on Porps from the start & decided that i’ll keep him as a F6 or F7 or until he breaks down.

To me Porps is still doing his job as a regular in the team. However a few decent scores increasing his price & allowing a straight swop to an underpriced true prem would certainly make it worth trading & putting it down to a 200K good gamble rather than the current 100+ reasonable gamble.

May look at Saad myself, but more A. Hall (negative BE, but 100% of nothing is nothing) to Saad.

Nateo, with the scores he has been getting he is staying in my team for the foreseeable future. Nice little role for the pies with good scoring opportunity & JS.

As with Porps, he may go in the final few upgrades / trades prior to or in finals, however Marty C & Lake (+ Porps to an extent) have been great underpriced bargains for me & i am repaying the faith.

same boat as Porps i reckon. consistant scores, did a good job on Stants as well as scoring his own points..

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 1 Thumb down 0

Happy Go Lucky May 17, 2012 at 3:35 pm

I think that Marty will get better over the second half of the year and could end being a nice D7, netting us a consistent score in the 90-110 region, possibly even 110-125 if he has a blinder. I also think that as coaches cash him in, he becomes more of a unique selection which is nice to have up your sleeve come finals.
I’ll probably keep him @ the 7 spot unless circumstances deem otherwise.

Seems to be going all right, he had a stinker in round one (only scored 15) but if you take that out he is averaging 107.5 for the year… seems to have found consistent since round 1 under FURL.
Good POD?

Personally goof balls if you have the cash, I know you got two dislikes. Take Shaw this week wait on Ablett 180 break even this week he goes down in price. If you can trade him in after that I would go that way you are suggesting if not and you are stuck for cash and you cannot see being able to trade Ablett into your team in the next 2-3 weeks take him now. Even though his price will go down he will still rack up the points.

Only for the brave!
Robin Nahas – $396700 – 72.3 with a break even of 20

I was hoping to pick him up after round 10 because of hard games against Essendon, Hawthorn, and St Kilda, however, he actually averaged 81.25 against these teams in four games last year. From round 11 he has eight games against seven teams for which he has a career average of 92.6. Not included in the average is a game against GWS round 12.
Nahas averaged 86.32 in year 2011 and he generally strings good games together.
