Motts Movers R7 – The Rucks

Thrillers

Aaron Sandilands ($540,700, 162, 124.50, 78) – Still #1 in my books. Hasn’t scored under 100 all year. When you shell out $550k for a bloke, that’s what you’re paying for. Pretty much doubled his kicks and halved his handballs in the game against the Tiges. Is this a sign of things to come for the big fella? Got a couple of big matches against other premier ruckmen in the game coming up – West Coast (Cox, Nic Nat) this week then Port (Brogan) the week after.

Dean Cox ($489,400, 125, 126.33, 71) – Had an 87 against The Hawks down at Aurora but by virtue of the fact that he’s scored so highly in all his other games, his average is more than Sandi’s. I, for one, will be super interested to see how he goes this week against The Sandimonster. 4 of his next 6 are at Subi.

Honourable mentions: Angus Graham, Matthew Leuenberger and Drew Petrie.

Chillers

Mitch Clark ($316,800, 75, 68.17, 103) – Starting to get down to a price where 75 is an acceptable score.

David Hille ($354,100, 65, 80.50, 106) Over the …?

Drillers

Will Minson ($287,100, 85, 98, -4) – OK so his job security is limited by how Rocket feels about him on a week-to-week basis but he’s opened up his 2011 account with a 111 and a 98. With Hudson getting subbed off with a possible injury on the weekend he may get a few games. Have I mentioned I bought his dad’s car?

Zac Smith ($269,200, 111, 80.67, 31) – Showed a ton of nous in his game against the Lions and still super value at this price.

Special mentions: Nic Nat and Robbie Warnock (careful tho, The Kreuz is imminent)

  1. Just a mention on Brogan, I heard Brereton quiz Primus on whether or not Brogan would be playing if Port had another Ruck option and he was quick to answer no. Carrying a bad inj and they’re waiting on Lobbe to get match fit before resting him very soon. Could be out for a few weeks after Lobbe went ok last week

  2. Rucks is so boring this year.

90% of the teams have Cox/Sandilands. At least in previous years there were so many different ruck combos people had.

  3. Would certainly like the ability to have Mumford in the forward or back line if it was ever possible… perhaps with the rule changes we’ll see a lot more DDP ruckmen in the mix next season?

Maybe Cox will be the first RUCK/MID given his role with Naitinui this season?

  4. I think Ottens will have a monster game this week against a Jolly-less pies…. He had a Bye, and then got subed off at half-time last week in preparation for the big clash.

(A little dimisave to the Roos, but justified I guess…. sorry RB)

Motts Movers R7 – The Rucks

Tall Timber

OK so clearly the 2 standouts this week were Sandi and Nic Nat. These blokes were lurking in the shadows:

I Maric ($374,600, $+22,500 ($+86,000), 83.33) – Has averaged 88 over the last 5 games and scored 121 in R2 showing he has got potential. As the Crows get better so should he. Only has a 39 BE this week.

P Ryder ($407,600, $+4,200 ($-40,100), 78.57) – Starting to warm up with an 85 average over the last 5 rounds. Does a lot of tackling which as we all know is good for SC scores. Had a 96 on Saturday and is facing a 44 BE this week.

Dead Wood

M Blake ($204,800, $-24,000 ($-89,100), 40.14) – Last 3 outings have yielded 27.67. That is just plain terrible. With Ottens down he shouldered rucking duties on his own and still only returned 54 last week. Geelong fans will be thanking God they have a great midfield.

M Gardiner ($204,800, $-24,000 ($-89,100), 51.33) – With King out for a bit his scores should improve but with an average of 43 over the last 3 rounds, you wouldn’t want to put money on that.

  1. Just to mention Ben Hudson who is playing alright this year. Score of 96 on the weekend against Jamar.

  2. Potential trades this week: 13 trades remaining $135,600 in bank
    1.
    Drummond > Goddard
    Medhurst/Hall > Pods
Only thing is I’m wary of Hall having a blinder against his own team, looks unlikely with his suggested injury though. Not too late to jump on the Podsiadly train? Lions just lost their General in defence Drummond, so the Geelong forward line may perform well at the Gabba this week.

    2.
    Martin > Swan
    Nason > Webberley
I like the look of Swan at his price, won’t get any lower than this… although Martin may apprectiate in value a little more, and there will be other premiums ie. Montagna, Murphy, Bartel bottoming out soonish in the next few weeks. Would also leave me with Silvagni and Maguire playing on the field this week against Collingwood and Geelong (two of the best) and must win my league game this week.
Already have Selwood, Gibbs, Pendlebury, Judd, Barlow, Martin.
Missed out on Ablett, worst decision ever.

    1. Murphy will play a blinder this week. Look at his scores so far this season – he has an up week followed by a down week and so on. He’s due for an up week, loves the Power, and with Kornes going to Judd he’s going to be left on his lonesome to rack ’em up.

  3. Motts, will Warnock get a run this week for Big sauce or do I have to rely on Trengove from Port as my backup for Mummy stupid 2 weeks suspension.

    1. I have my doubts, PA. But you know the drill mate – make sure you’re in front of your PC at 5pm Friday.

      1. Thought you’ll get the inside word from Ratts being so close with him and the input of whoin going play.

          1. His dummy is in the Weights Room. That’s where he should be spending hours looking for it. And Robbie, why don’t you throw a few weights around while you’re in there, champ.

As an aside, happy 21st birthday to the Kroooooooz today!!

          2. You’ve got Mumford too don’t you PA? Assuming there’s no coverage for him, are you gonna trade him out a week after trading him in? I’ve checked my draw and reckon I can get away with two weeks of doughnuts to save the trade.

          3. Nah Mike, it’s not worth throwing a trade away for Mummy. Hopefully Warney or Jacko get a game this week.

  4. Motts
Interesting article in yesterday’s HS debating who is the overall better player – Judd or Ablett. As things are pretty slow before team announcements, might be worth throwing up a poll to generate some input from the SCT family (surely going to be more intelligent than the HS comments.)

      1. Obviously no hurry given the subject matter – might be one for later now you’ve posted the underrated?

  5. Who is the man for my midfield?

Higgins (mid/fwd – can sub with Brennan in my fwd line)
Hayes (probably bottomed out and has potential for some large scores)
    Cross (consistently scores high)

I am leaning towards Cross, you should never cross out Cross. But then again maybe I should take Hayes before the sun shines. Although I am diggin Higgins for the flexibilty he gives the team.

    1. Props for the last paragraph, Mavs.

I like Hayes of those 3 at the moment but recommend getting Higgins in at some point to take full advantage of the DPP rule.
