Motts Movers R7 – The Rucks

Written by Motts on May 12 2011

Thrillers

Aaron Sandilands ($540,700, 162, 124.50, 78) – Still #1 in my books. Hasn’t scored under 100 all year. When you shell out $550k for a bloke, that’s what you’re paying for. Pretty much doubled his kicks and halved his handballs in the game against the Tiges. Is this a sign of things to come for the big fella? Got a couple of big matches against other premier ruckmen in the game coming up – West Coast (Cox, Nic Nat) this week then Port (Brogan) the week after.

Dean Cox ($489,400, 125, 126.33, 71) – Had an 87 against The Hawks down at Aurora but by virtue of the fact that he’s scored so highly in all his other games, his average is more than Sandi’s. I, for one, will be super interested to see how he goes this week against The Sandimonster. 4 of his next 6 are at Subi.

Honourable mentions: Angus Graham, Matthew Leuenberger and Drew Petrie.

Chillers

Mitch Clark ($316,800, 75, 68.17, 103) – Starting to get down to a price where 75 is an acceptable score.

David Hille ($354,100, 65, 80.50, 106) Over the …?

Drillers

Will Minson ($287,100, 85, 98, -4) – OK so his job security is limited by how Rocket feels about him on a week-to-week basis but he’s opened up his 2011 account with a 111 and a 98. With Hudson getting subbed off with a possible injury on the weekend he may get a few games. Have I mentioned I bought his dad’s car?

Zac Smith ($269,200, 111, 80.67, 31) – Showed a ton of nous in his game against the Lions and still super value at this price.

Special mentions: Nic Nat and Robbie Warnock (careful tho, The Kreuz is imminent)

  1. Just a mention on Brogan, I heard Brereton quiz Primus on whether or not Brogan would be playing if Port had another Ruck option and he was quick to answer no. Carrying a bad inj and they’re waiting on Lobbe to get match fit before resting him very soon. Could be out for a few weeks after Lobbe went ok last week

  2. Rucks is so boring this year.

90% of the teams have Cox/Sandilands. At least in previous years there were so many different ruck combos people had.

  3. Would certainly like the ability to have Mumford in the forward or back line if it was ever possible… perhaps with the rule changes we’ll see a lot more DDP ruckmen in the mix next season?

Maybe Cox will be the first RUCK/MID given his role with Naitinui this season?

  4. I think Ottens will have a monster game this week against a Jolly-less pies…. He had a Bye, and then got subed off at half-time last week in preparation for the big clash.

(A little dimisave to the Roos, but justified I guess…. sorry RB)

  5. I’ve been extremely happy with my McCox combo for the money I shelled out + I got a toy too!
