Motts Movers R8, 2013 – The Backs

Written by Motts on May 20 2013

Premiums

Shannon Hurn ($505,200, 95.38, 86) – Last week’s top rater nails it again with a 104 against North. Get used to seeing him up here with GWS, Richmond and St Kilda coming up before his R12 bye.

Pearce Hanley ($537,900, 113.14, 77) – Not cheap but has averaged 112.33 over his last 3 and can go large (160 against Adelaide, 141 against GC and 133 against WC).

Brendon Goddard ($528,400, 106.12, 97) – Chances are you’ve already got him (60% of teams do) so you know how good he is. Averaged 105 over his last 3, lowest score for the year is 86 and faces Richmond, Sydney, Carlton and GC before his R13 bye.

Midpricers

Brandon Ellis ($403,400, 71.88, -12) – Pointed him out to you last week and what does he then go out and score against Melbourne? Not much. Just 149. Took his average over the last 4 to 117. MJ’s on him. Are you?

Lachie Henderson ($438,900, 71.88, -12) – Waite came back and Hendo ploughed on with another ton. That’s three in a row now for him. Brisbane and GWS in the next 2 weeks.

Darren Glass ($376,200, 67.12, 29) – You might be short of cash, looking for a POD or perhaps want someone to bring in to your draft team. Whichever  it is, have a bo peep at Dazza. Over his last 3 he’s scored between 92 and 108.

Not So Special Mention: Lucas Markovic ($272,300, 100) – played his first game in R7 and tonned it up. Played his second game in R8 and scored 61. Disregard ‘im.

Leaving the rooks to BS but will cheekily mention Jackson Thurlow, Jimmy Webster, and Brent Staker.

  1. Good write up Motts I just wanted to add a shout out to Vlas with recent scores of 141, 105 and 72. He is holding down my D6 nicely.

  2. Nice work Motts.
Overall there has been a fair bit of choice with rookies in the backline but is it time to trade Brett Goodes out? Thinking down grading him to Jimmy Webster & upgrading Neede or Mayes ( not sure which yet) for Buddy.

  4. Trade this week:
    Heath – Ellis
    Moloney – Watson

with 45k left in the war chest.

I really want Watson this week, and there’s no other way to get him other than trading him in for Moloney. Any suggestions?

  5. Also, can anybody update me on Henderson? haven’t seen his games, but is it a role change or what is he doing differently?

  6. The backline injury carnage of a few weeks back that forced some panicked trading has actually been a blessing for my backline. Whilst i wore the pain of Heppell’s week off and Gibbs now three weeks off it forced me to move on Goodes, Pittard and Heath. My trades in were Ellis, Terlich and Vlastuin.

Ellis has scored 82, 103 and 149 since i traded him in
Terlich has scored 39, 108 and 110 since i traded him in
Vlastuin has scored 105 and 141 since i traded him in

And then there’s the cash they’re generating too!!!

Very happy with the three of these boys. Going to get the boys to talk to Thurlow during the week and explain to him my expectations as coach.

  7. Got Ellis in at $237,000, totally due to this site so kudos to those who deserve it, think it was MJ who is also reaping the benefits.

Still don`t think he will be a keeper though, 2nd year player and when Conca/Newman come back there will be some munching of points there. Plus Richmond unfortunately can`t play Melbourne every week and he will be held more accountable now after the 39 possies. 39, feels like a typo but it ain`t!

He will however, be a downgrade to almost anyone in 2 weeks and garnered me buckets of points. Missed Vlasteline though, can`t get `em all though eh.

  8. I love the Motts movers write-ups, invaluable. But how about a similar write up on ‘sellers’. When to trade, who has peaked, anticipated restings etc. I can’t decide who to sell off! Pittard or Hutchins, Kerridge, Maccaffer or Thomas?
