Motts Movers R8, 2012 – The Mids

Written by Motts on May 23 2012

Premiums

Brent Stanton ($646,100, 137.38, 76 ) – Had to rub my eyes when I looked at his last 3 game average – 153.3. He scored 154 against Brisbane at Etihad, followed that up a week later at the same venue against West Coast with a 164 then belted Richmond to the tune of 142 at the G last week. He’s starting to convince me that he might be f’real y’all.

Scott Thompson ($633,400, 128.38, 74) – Couldn’t resist him any longer last week and brought him into my SCTTL team. He responded with a 139 which coincidentally is his last 3 round average. The beard he’s sporting at the moment looks kinda Chapman-esque when combined with his nude nut. Makes him look tougher. Motts likes it.

Gary Ablett ($708,500, 145.50, 144) – The best SC player I have ever seen. Lowest score for the year so far? 125 returning from a knee injury. Turns the weekly captaincy poll into a farce. 65% of all supercoaches are kicking themselves that they don’t have him.

Midpricers

Sam Iles ($459,200, 95.40, 40) – Who knew? The 996 people who own Sammy (mostly family, friends and team mates) have been clicking their heels over these last 3 weeks. 103, 127, and 104. Handy.

Dion Prestia ($424,700, 86.38, 32) – And while we’re on the GC let’s include Dion who’s popped his head up with 2 107’s and a 112 these last 3 weeks. With him Rischitelli, Ablett, Horsley and Iles all running around the GC guts, why aren’t they on the board yet?

Mitch Wallis ($378,000, 85.17, 9) – Blonde afro (‘Blo Fro’?) has been getting it done in 4 of the last 5 weeks scoring 105, 105, 35 (he started as the sub in the Pies game), 110, and 104.

Value Picks

Dom Tyson ($227,100, 47.40, -28)Has scored 86 and 76 in the last 2 weeks but just be wary – the Giants tanked last game by resting a lot of their regulars.

Kyal Horsley ($278,500, 92.25, -19) – I breaking one of my unwritten rules by including a player in the Value Picks who’s price exceeds $250k but he is honestly that good. Tonned it up for the first time last week against the Dogs and will probably do it again this week against Port. Why he’s only owned by 22.5% of teams is beyond me. Projected to be around the $450k mark by the time GC have their bye in R13.

Darren Pfeiffer ($198,700, 62, -7)Not 100% convinced on DP but he worked his way up to a 94 against the Roos and is a handy DPP with a negative BE so he got a gig. Be warned though, his other scores this year have been 64, 60, and 30 #worldnotonfire

  1. I want to bring in Dal Santo but not sure, he started off slow last year then brought it home strong. He’s one of those midfielders that can go really huge but also, probably when tagged, put up really low scores. Not sure if he’ll be in the top 10 midfielders by season end? In saying all that his low low price is pretty hard to resist. So the question is: can he average about 115 for the rest of the year? Because if so I need him in my side.

Thumbs up average 115+ or close to it
Thumbs down won’t be top 10 midfielder by seasons end

  7. Ryan Griffen’s last four scores have been huge 155, 152, 123, 124

Probably not the best option out there at his price $614,200 but must be tempting for some.

  11. Kane “Sugar” Lucas could see more game time now with Smurfs going down and might be a nice POD at $223,700 #thinkingoutsidethebox

  12. I have replaced A.Hall with Zorko in the forward line and kept C.smith as a reserve in the centre. If A.hall actually plays this week I have a dilemma. I have K. Hunt and Tomlinson in my back line and M. Johnson in my forwards. I could sell Tomlinson after swapping positions with Johnson and get Zorko relegating Hunt to the reserves looking to downgrade him after the buys to finish my upgrades?.
    Is this sensible?

  13. Wanting to get scotland in for either hargrave or bugg.

    Thumbs up – bugg
    Thumbs down – hargrave
keeping in mind if i trade bugg hargrave will be sitting on the pine.

  15. The post was a great read, a veritable stat fest, if you will. The comments provided a great giggle, once again.

Will get that Murphy poll up in the morning, in place of a captains poll.

  19. All week have been going Greene & Coniglio out for NDS & Zorko leaving 14 trades, 380K cash allowing a) Magner to Priddis after Magner has plugged a mid gap in Round 11 & b) Smedts (or Morris / Ellis) to a Round 11 bye def i.e. Beau Waters or S.Thomp (roos). Nice plan to improve already solid team & manouvre through byes.
However a vision came to me in the night… GAJ. Even though as a Saints man i love NDS & I have slights concerns on GAJ ref. long term effect of hard tags & scoring if not in the guts….. we are talking about the little master.

Thumbs UP: – NDS this week & have 2 further prem upgrades planned (& try & get GAJ in Rnd 14 to complete mids)

Thumbs DOWN:- GAJ this week & simply go Magner to Priddis after Rnd 11 with the 155k cash.

Any thoughts or comments as well as votes appreciated.
