2013 Byes

Motts Movers R8 – The Forwards

by Motts on May 21, 2012

Premiums

Patrick Dangerfield ($560,600, 113.75, 59) – went cuckoo against the Bluebaggers scoring 174 and breaking Marc Murphy’s shoulder along the way. Hasn’t scored less than 91 all year. Wonder how the Pies will handle him this week.

Steele Sidebottom ($576,400, 112.13, 74) – how is it that Steele is about the same price as Dangers, averages just over 1 point a game less than Dangers, and has more consistency in his scoring but is owned by almost 56,000 coaches less (132,096 to 76,682)? The Collingwood factor perhaps?

David Zaharakis ($510,100, 100, 57) – While Essendon continue to steamroll opponents its hard not to like some of their personnel. I’m beginning to grudgingly respect Jobe and Stanton but you’ve also gotta give props to Zacka who in his last 4 has scored 113, 110, 130 & 115. GWS and Melbourne coming up in the next 2 weeks.

Paul Chapman ($517,200, 100, 95) – Is there an angrier man in the AFL than Paul Chapman? One of my favourite shots of him is used by @Iron_Balls07 on twitter as his profile shot. But he’s not just angry – he backs up the attitude with game. He’s only had one bad game for the year (a 57 against North in R3), the rest of his scores have oscillated between 90 and 122. I was worried that his body wouldn’t hold out this year but I gave in and brought him in last week when he proved to me he was up for it again. He’s cheap, he’s reliable, and you’ll love watching him tear into opponents. What more could you want?

Mid-Pricers

Harley Bennell ($485,100, 93.38, 73) – He came with some pretty big raps last year but did anyone really expect him to average over 93 in a crap team this early? Motts didn’t. After R4 you coulda got him for $359k. Over the last 3 he’s whacked out 141, 99 and 115. 3 of his next 4 are at Metricon and include Port and North.

Mitch Elark ($445,700, 82.43, 68) – Elark has stood tall in a woeful team pretty much since Lethal came out and said he didn’t think Elark was worth the money (~$800k) he was on. His last 3 games: 130, 104, and 91. Do I recommend you pick him up? No Elarking way!

Adam Treloar ($266,000, 75.80, -23) – You’ve already missed a $152k price rise but there’s plenty left in A-Trel as evidenced by his negative BE. Last 2 scores have been 96 and 84. Handy DPP but a couple of tough ones coming up against Essendon and Geelong before the bye.

Keep an eye on Danny Stanley ($422,300) who busted out a 92 on debut last week.

Value Picks

Dayne Zorko ($113,200, 58, -49) – I don’t normally pump guys up after they’ve only played 2 games but The Zork scored 100 in his second after wearing the vest in the first. Admittedly it was against The Giants and his team dominated them like Duck dominates the geriatrics at his local lawn bowls club but even so it was still impressive. North and WC at home to come before their bye.

I’ll throw a vote Darren Pfeiffer’s way because of the 94 he produced but I’d want to see it again before I go recommending him.

“the geriatrics”, classic Motts  reminds me of my brother in law when he “plays” lawn bowls against the oldies.

The funniest thing is that he goes through 10 schooners while he plays yet still calls it his exercise for the week.

We’re a youthful club Motts, very few geriatrics, I will admit to being quite impressive though.

with Smurf going down, its created a frenzy with who people are gonna replace him with.. i cant decide on Dangerfield or Stanton.. i already have Jobe but seriously, can we keep ignoring Stanton’s Ablett like numbers?? got an easy 2 wks coming up Vs GWS & the Demons, while Dangerfield has Pies and Dockers at Subiaco..

With Bomber Thompson’s influance at Bomberland this year Hugh, beware the rested player senario v the weaker teams. And having 2 premiums from the same team on the same line will affect your r12 bye round in this instance.

Dangerfield for mine!

I was pleased with my new recruit Sidey last week. However, I under-estimated Danger’s scoring potential but I just cannot fit him in before the byes. Besides I am fond of my GWS fwd rookies – Treloar, Adams and D.Smith. They are fattening nicely. Can’t have everything I suppose.
