Motts Movers R9, 2013 – The Mids

Written by Motts on May 30 2013

Premiums

Jobe Watson ($610,200, 124.11, 56) – Hottest player in the game right now with an average over his last 3 of 144.33. With everything that’s going on behind the scenes at Essendon you just have to admire what he’s doing on the field. Will wear some close attention against Sydney and Carlton in the next couple so expect a drop off in output but he’s still worth every cent at $610k.

Ryan Griffen ($579,900, 115.29, 111) – His team is a bit of rabble but Rysa is gettin’ it durn for ‘em. 171 (!) against North 3 weeks ago, 101 against the Suns, and then a 136 against St Kilda. Has a handy R11 bye after his game against Port this week so consider bringing him in after that.

Jack Steven ($536,400, 103.11, 88) – Don’t look at his average so much as his average over the last 3: 127.67. Wowee! Tore my Blues a new one to the tune of 150, went the even ton against Adelaide, then stood up for 133 against The Dogs. Looks like the baton is all set to be passed from Joey and Dal to the likes of Armitage and Jacky Boy.

Midpricers

Dion Prestia ($492,800, 94.38, 71) – You’d think it’d be hard to shine consistently in a midfield that you had to share with The Bald Sensei. Presti isn’t having any trouble though. Started the year with 5 scores in the 70s and 80s before a R7 126 against the Dees then a R8 105 against The Dogs. “Fair enough, 2 weaker teams” I hear you say. Well in R9 he played Hawthorn – doesn’t get much tougher than that does it? – and scored 118.  It doesn’t stop there, his next 3 games are against  Geelong, North, and Essendon.

Chris Judd ($495,200, 98.33, 77) – No that isn’t a typo. C………Judd is worth less than $500k. He got as low as $477k last week before scoring his 3rd ton in 3 weeks (against St Kilda, Port and Brisbane) and is only in just under 4% of teams. Faces GWS this week so choooo choooo all aboard the Juddy train!

Matt Priddis ($483,500, 95, 73) – Matty P would be my pick of these 3 midpricers. A ball magnet on his day (and most days are his days) he’ll very, very rarely disappoint you. This’ll probably be the last week you pick him up for under $500k so don’t miss out.

Rookies

Mark Hutchings ($109,500, 70.5, -109) – 55 in his first game against Brisbane in R7 and then even with the green vest last week against GWS he still belted out an 86.

Nathan Hrovat ($114,500, 86) – Only played the 1 game (in which he scored a very handy 86) and has a bye after his game against Port this week  so schedule his trade in for the week after next.

Jarryd Cachia ($217,600, 63.25, -38) – If you took my advice and brought him in last week, congratulations you just made $58k after he punished the Lions for 87 SC points following up his 80 point outing against Port. Still has a strong negative BE so don’t be afraid to bite the bullet this week if you’re looking for a mid rookie that will get games and can perform.

  2. I’m liking Luke Ball on the bubble… he seems sound and at $300k he’s hard to look past surely… Tonne in his second game back. Thoughts?

  3. I’m bring in Watson this week. I’m dropping Terlich for Staker and a bit more controversial, I’m dropping O’Meara for Watson

This then gives me enough in the bank to go Goodes – Swan/Selwood next week

  4. Trades this week:

    Terlich –> Staker
    Leuy –> Minson

    Yes/No?

Leaves me with 450k for big upgrades in the following weeks.
