Motts Movers R9 – The Mids

by Motts on May 27, 2010

M Boyd ($527,900 $-14,900 ($-24,700), 111.0) – He’s a premium that doesn’t get the same recognition as others but make no mistake: he IS a premium. In the 7 rounds he’s played this year so far he’s only missed the ton once – the week after he came back from injury. Take that outlier out and his average is a whopping 119. Players with that kind of average don’t often get this cheap.

J Bartel ($514,200 $-1,200 ($-64,200), 109.56) – And speaking of cheap….. A 76 that Jimmy had against Sydney a couple of weeks ago has wreaked (wrought?) havoc with his price. But with that coming out of consideration after R10, with a BE of 79 and with Jimmy playing at the House of Pain this week against a Dees team that last won down there when the Saints were considered nice, clean cut young men, he is price is going to go up massively this week.

S Burgoyne ($386,100 $+0 ($+0), 91.0) – I’ll be the first to admit that this guy is a serious risk. He only played 9 games last year as a result of questionable knees and here we are in R10 and he’s only played 2. But in those 2 games he scored 84 and then 98 (read: he’s getting better!) With a BE of 54, his price is sure to go up next week so its possible this will be cheapest he’ll be all year. Yes he’s a risk but with risk comes reward.

Give me some suggestions for others. Pendles only just missed out – would like to see some more consistency from him before calling him a Mover. And of course, give me your douchebags.

How about Goodes (396k, BE 59, Avg 82).
He always finishes the season strongly. I think he is a far better option than S Burgoyne. Almost sure to play every game till the end of the season. Only missed 3 games in something like 8 years.

His last 4 rounds have produced scores of 81,103, 27, and 62. He may get better later on, G-unit, but he ain’t Moving that well right now.

How about NDS? $509. A great price for this premium.

Brent Stanton ($461,500, -$38,300 (-$46,000),92.3, R10 B/E 167)
During the NAB he was on fire ( only playing 2 games though) with scores of 121 and 196 at a avg of 158.5ppg, I was looking at bringing him in at the start of the season but just couldn’t afford him at $507,500. The word going round is Stants has a bad back thanks to a bulging disc which was discoverd after R1 were he’d scored 133, after that ( plus the fact he then got tagged more) has pretty sub-stranded scores of 69,53 and 62 during the year. With a B/E of 167 this week I’ll be looking at getting him in a couple of weeks time where his price should drop even more plus to see if he has recovered from his back injury as well.

Stanton also has a bad case of “not being able to handle a tagger”… buyer beware

How are people not considering adam cooney? With a cost of 484k and a breakeven of 20 and an average of 108, this will be the cheapest he’ll be all year and with the dogs finding form he’ll surely only improve!

I’m planning on finally upgrading Martin this week. Thinking either:
Montagna 535700 111.4
Bartel 514200 109.56
NDS 509400 107.11
Boyd 527900 111
Murphy 503200 108.2
Leaning towards Bartel. Any thoughts??

Out of those I’d go Bartel, Boyd or Muphs. If you’re looking for value for money consider Cooney too.

If I went Coon, then my midfield would be the same as yours… and we can’t have that if I’m going to knock you off in the finals can we?!

Bartel is looking good…

Saints have Port, North, Tigers and Adelaide in the last four rds when SC finals are on wheras the Cats and Dogs draw is much harder.
I’d be therefore looking at NDS or Montagna.
Also, the Saints won’t be resting anyone this year during this period but the Cats may.
