Motts Movers R9, 2012 – The Mids

Written by Motts on May 28 2012

Premiums

Matthew Boyd ($593,200, 116, 100) – You probably didn’t expect to see Boydy’s name here. But you should have. Captains just tend to score more. Ask Wayne Carey. Boyd has gone for 137, 137 & 125 over the last 3 against North, GC and Geelong. Admittedly, 2 of those 3 aren’t great teams but he scored 85 against Melbourne so clearly who he’s facing has nothing to do with what he scores. Next 5: Sydney, Bye, Port, Brisbane, Essendon.

Nathan Foley ($554,100, 106.89, 107) – YELLOW AND BLACK!! I’ve had that in me since Saturday afternoon. I turned up to the Hawks v Tiges game only to leave at ¾ time because Richo wasn’t happy her team was gonna lose to Richmond. Understandable, but I missed out on humming along to the best song in the AFL. NATHAN! has gone for 134, 104 and 127 in his last 3 against Sydney, Essendon and The Hawks. That’s some good scores against some good opponents so Motts gives him respect. Coming up he has The Saints, Freo (away) and GWS. Handy average.

Trent Cotchin ($541,800, 111.78, 89) – Oh he’s from Ti-ger-land…. Sorry, still struggling to get that song out of my head. I’ve had Cotch from Day 1 and other than a sh*tty Jeep ad he’s done and a 73 against Port, I’ve been really happy with his output. Take that 73 out and his scoring range is between 101 and 130. Coming up, he has the same opponents as NATHAN!

FYI Props to Luke Shuey ($540,400, 110.67, 80) who has gone 124, 110, 112, & 138 over the last 4 but he just got suspended this week. Also, and I can’t stress this enough, keep an eye on Matty Priddis ($470,400, 94.71, 144) too. Could be a superb pickup for your midfield after his R11 bye. Not convinced? Check out his stats over the last couple of years.

Mid-Pricers

Matthew Broadbent ($415,700, 84.89, -13) – Goes bananas sometimes like he did against the Gold Coast (153). That raised his last 3 game average to 116.67. Does Motts recommend him? Uh uh.

Jack Steven ($496,900, 100.44, 68) – His consistency has been impressive. Best measure of consistency? Standard deviation. Stevo’s SD? 17.56. If you’re not into Std Dev yet, just know that anything under 20 is pretty darn consistent. Jack has scored between 84 and 143 all year with the 143 coming against Sydney last week. Coming up he has Richmond, the GC and Adelaide before the bye.

Adam Treloar ($324,500, 82.33, -1) – Over the last 2 weeks he went for 96 and 84. Coaches who had him were happy one of their cash cows’ value was shooting up like a hooker in St Kilda. Then on Saturday when Essendon came to town he smashed out a 115. If you’ve got him, happy days! If you don’t, my condolences.

FYI: Danyle Pearce’s last 2 games have been pretty handy: 158 & 142. Mitch Wallis ($418,300) continued on his ton scoring way (108), and while I’m on the Richmond bandwagon I’m a bit enamored of Shane Tuck ($496,900, 101.67, 69) too. Shane went for a lazy 148 on Saturday. YELLOW & BLACK!

Value Picks

Dom Tyson ($277,500, 54.67, 3) – His last 3 scores have been 86, 76 and 91. Nothing wrong with that for a bloke under $300k.

That’s all I got for you on the Mids this week. Who you liking?

  2. Liking the look of kieran Jack. Last two games of 152 and 123. Now sitting at 491k with a BE of 25. Could be a solid POD if JPk keeps getting all the attention.

  4. Agree that he is inconsistent and always has been, but so is stevie J. Even PAV has been up and down this year, with a forward line already consisting of sidebum, danger, buddy, chappy, dusty what other option is there who will be consistent? Nroo seems to have found his mojo!

  5. Time to upgrade Marty Clarke, he’s hit his peak price.

    Waters – thumbs down

  6. Had Boyd all last year and he is one of those guys who gets stronger as the year goes on and just keeps winning the ball. Great to see Tuck getting a regular birth in the midfield after a series of inexplicable stints in the twos – maybe they have finally realised he is a great up and under mid-fielder who frees up Deledio / Grigg / Foley from the bottom of the pack.

PS – When Lenny hangs up the boots at the Sainters I think most will transfer their man-crush to Cotchin (provided there are no more Jeep ads…..).

  7. Ok, so it’s double upgrade week.

    Upgrading Coniglio > Boyd/Watson/JPK
    Porpus > Robinson/Beams/Stevie J

I’m currently leaning towards JPK and Robinson but will probably change my mind 5 times before lock out.

    Any suggestions?

  8. Would love Cotchin as a trade up option. But I’m wondering… I have J McDonald on the bench. What will he peak at??

  9. What you guys think of my double upgrade this week?
    Taylor Adams – Nick Riewoldt
    Courtenay Dempsey – Michael Johnson
Leaving me with 47k in the bank and a mere 10 trades left. Will not be trading for the forseasable future baring LTI’s
