Motts Movers R9, 2013 – The Forwards

Written by Motts on May 29 2013

Righto, lets get back to what’s important – SuperCoach!

Premiums

Stevie Johnson ($604,100, 121.17, 89) – THE must-have forward this year. Goes large virtually every time he goes. Last 4 weeks he’s played: 160, 121, 123, 151. Ooooooph. GCS and GWS coming up before his R12 bye.

Jimmy Bartel ($554,500, 111.78, 90) – Courtesy of a 131 against Port, Jimmy retains his Premium Movers spot this week. Will coexist quite peacefully in your forward line with Stevie J – every time SJ has cracked the century, JB has too.

Drew Petrie ($517,500, 94, 100) – Droop had a pretty nondescript (first time I’ve used that word in a Movers post!) start to the year with a 59 and a 41 thrown into his first 3 weeks. Since then though he’s been getting it done quite nicely: 120, 83, 121, 122, 94, and 115. Saints and the Gold C’s coming up before his R12 bye.

Midpricers

Jack Gunston ($443,600, 77.62, 29) – Welcome to Moverdom, Jacky G! Met the entry criteria by tonning it up over the last 3 weeks against Sydney (102), GWS (128) and GSC (107).  Given he’s been pounding the crappy teams you’d back him to go alright this week against Melbourne. Its against the good teams he doesn’t go great though – consistency a bit of an issue.

Jordan Lewis ($489,800, 94.67, 57) – Third week in a row for J-Lew. There’s nothing to dislike about how he plays – anyone remember the mid-pitch collision with Ryan Hargrave? – he goes hard and he goes all day. Sometimes he shaves, a lot of the time he doesn’t. Average over his last three: 111.67

Robbie Gray ($384,400, 76.50, 22) – Priced in the 3’s and with 2 tons from his last 2 games against Geelong and Carlton. His team’s turned to shite but his form shines through. His next 2 games are against the Dogs and GCS split by his R11 bye. Go on, take a risk and get on him.

Rookies

Brent Staker ($128,000, 85.5, -96) – He’s a D/F DPP so I’m giving him another mention just in the unlikely case you missed him in the Back Movers on Monday.

Jarryd Lyons ($233,400, 61.75, -6) – Copped the vest in his first 2 and still managed a pair of 50’s. Allowed to run unencumbered (I might have eaten a dictionary for lunch today) he’s bashed out a couple of 72’s in a row against St Kilda and North.

  1. Decisions, decisions…

Can see Stevie J going absolutely beserk against both the Suns and Giants next two weeks, but Naitanui might be a more pressing need this week.

  2. Stevie J fits in nicely this week assuming nothing drastic happens at the selection table =) I was also looking at Drew Petrie, has had a good few weeks but Stevie J definitely the priority. Oh and Stevie J’s bye is in R12, not 11. -just caught a typo

  5. Nic Nat not a mover?
Trading in either him or Stevie J – leaning towards Nic, Stevie/Cats list management have let me down before.

  6. Who to get when already have 1 starters spot in my forward line

    FWD: Stevie J, Naitanui, Rockliff,
    Dusty, Kkk-Kennedy, Macaffer (Staker, Rowe)

Sitting 46,000 after a couple of Birchall & Hartlett rounds now looking to climb with 15 Trades & $510K.

What does SCT think of Matthew Boyd? Side-note wishing Mick would play Rowe in next 4 weeks!

    Cheers guys, anyone got thoughts?

  7. Just some opinions on Boyd and Cotchin

I believe that Cotchin would be more consistent for my team, but Boyd is 70k cheaper and he is most probably at his lowest point for the season..

    T/U Cotchin
    T/D Boyd

  11. Just on Stevie J, he has always been able to beat up on the weaker sides in the competition and is doing it again this year. Still pumped out tons against the Dons and Swans, but didn’t play your Hawks, North and Pies. Smashed Port, the Dogs and Richmond (who are massively overrated with a lot of people tipping them to beat Essendon).

Beat up WB, GWS, Melb and GC in 2011 and 2012 as well averaging over 150 against those teams.

He’s had only of those games this year already, and without them in 2011-2012 he average 89.7.

Still a great player that goes big, and will go big in games to come, but is injury prone and I don’t expect him to push out ton after ton post bye. I’ll be looking for second half of the year value players like Bud and Hawkins who loves playing in front of a home crowd. To those that jumped on him in round 5 like I had planned to (and didn’t), awesome call. Those who are jumping on after his big scores, best of luck.

  13. I think I’m going to do something silly, and trade Cloke in. I think he’s got a good couple of weeks coming up with weaker defensive sides.

But I could always get Stevie J if I wanted to by trading Jaeger O’Meara, although I’m loathe to do so.

TU: Trade C. Sinclair to Cloke, keep J. O’Meara.
TD: Trade J. O’Meara to Stevie J, keep C. Sinclair.

  14. hmmmm was planning Staker for Neade

but my ruck rookies are stinking it up (Gawn and Daw)

Show me your thumbs, who to dump for Staker
    TU – Neade
    TD – Daw/Gawn (via Rowe)
    Comments Staker-Rowe ………… he’s not getting a game
