Motts Movers R9 – The Forwards

Written by Motts on May 25 2011

Thrillers

Lance Franklin ($533,100, 146, 118.75, 93) – I’m starting to think Buddy is THE must-have forward in 2011.  He’s averaging 4.3 a game for Christ’s sake! The Buddy Show continued last weekend against the Swans for a lazy 6.6 return. Doesn’t have his next bye til R17 so you’re going to get plenty of points out of him between now and then. Of course, that’s if he doesn’t get rubbed out for something silly. Interestingly, he’s had two 146’s and a 147.

Matthew Pavlich ($511,800, 119, 115.25, 118) – Should change his name to Matthew Tonvich coz he will score you 100 week in, week out. He will set you back $500k but in return you will get an ultra consistent performer who leads by example and wears a lovely shade of purple. He will also sub into your midfield to give you that all-important flexibility this year. Handy.

Jarryd Roughead ($452,400, 121, 99.75, 59) – Is it any wonder the Hawks are flying at the moment when both their key forward targets are scoring the way they are? This was Roughie’s 4th ton in a row since taking over rucking duties. He’s been pretty accurate for the year too – kicking 13.5.

Honourable mentions: Brent Harvey and Colin Sylvia.

Chillers

Chris Dawes ($347,200, 77, 90.38, 87) – Opened the year with 140, 110, 89 and 103. Since R5 has gone 78, 55, 71 and 77. Think opposition teams have worked out how to play him?

Travis Cloke ($381,300, 58, 83.75, 126) – And while we’re on Collingwood key forwards…. It was a goalfest for Collingwood in the last quarter last week, you would’ve thought Trav could’ve got onto the end of some. But no, Trav kicked 0.2 for the day.  Last 3 scores: 58, 74, 58. How are Collingwood still winning??

Eddie Betts ($326,000, 56, 70.50, 119) – If Eddie thought a cheeky hungy against Sydney the other week was going to keep me off his back given the scores he’s had around it, he’s got another thing coming. His scores for the year are: 111, 73, 53, 36, 75, 114, 46, and 56. Simply not good enough for a bloke who just missed out on being nominated to the All Australian team just last year.

Drillers

Nick Riewoldt ($388,500, 141, 89.75, 34) – If you didn’t have him and were waiting for the point at which he bottomed well, you missed it – it was last week. But the good news is that he only went up $15k last week. N-Roo for under $400k?!? That is the bargain of the year.

Nat Fyfe ($471,200, 103, 111.62, 95) – Had a 71 a couple of weeks ago against Richmond which has affected his price greatly. Since then he’s raised his bat twice and playing St Kilda out west this week he’s already got the bat half way in the air again.

Adam Goodes ($442,300, 94, 98.62, 81) – Wasn’t a centurion last week but gee he came close. Is still super value at this price with the added benefit that his next bye comes in a non-competitive round for all you coaches out there that are just trying to win your leagues..

Special mentions: Cyril Rioli (hold off  at least another week on bringing him in – his BE is 121), Jarryd Waite (2 tons in a row), Jono Brown (150 BE this week tho so hold off), Mark LeCras (2 x 113’s in a row), Quentin Lynch (125 & 105 the last 2 weeks), Luke McPharlin (114 & 100 the last 2 weeks, D/F DPP), David Zaharakis, Angus Monfries and Jack Watts.

Quick word of warning about Josh J Kennedy. Yes, he kicked 10 magnificent goals, scored 190 SC points, now averages 97.25, has a -10 BE and costs only $400k but if you take out last Sunday’s performance he only averages 84. If you think he’s going to get a helluva lot better, jump onto him. But he’s averaged in the 60’s for the last 3 years and scored a 71 just 3 weeks ago against The Dons so you’d want to be pretty sure.

  1. Awesome write up Motts.
With 4/6 guns and 0/3 spuds mentioned, feeling quite premium!
A little concerned that a certain Chap wasn’t mentioned as he’s on the cards for recruitment.

  2. I’m tossing up between Fyfye and Sylvia. I’m ranked 2,400 and have got my tail up lately but my main goal is a league win so it is handy that both have a bye in a week off for competitive league matches. The thing that makes mean lean towards Colin is his pre-lim and GF games (rnd 23/24) are against Gold Coast and Port Adelaide. If you were in my position, would you be rolling with Col or Fyfe?

  3. Yeah I’d say 6 would be too little at that stage. You need to cater for injuries and trading out any premiums you have who play for teams that will have byes during the SC finals.

  4. Cheers for the write up Motts. Been wondering all week which fwd prem to get. Have cash to go Chappy, but O’keefe seems at a good price as well.

Also on another note, could we get a poll on what people are doing with Sandilands? Either to keep till return, downgrade to a rookie or sideways to another premium?

  7. Got 16 trades, only 6.5k in the bank and don’t have buddy yet. So, do I:

    (THUMBS UP)
Downgrade Higgins to Jacobs and upgrade Tappy to Buddy?
    Or
    (THUMBS DOWN)
Downgrade Higgins to Jacobs and downgrade Tappy to Lynch?

  8. Okay so I still haven’t got Buddy. Was thinking of bringing him in this week for Higgins by bringing him up forward. However I think my mids need the upgrades first. Any advice?

    Heres my team
Mids: Swan, Judd, Bartel, Higgins, Swallow, Harris
Forwards: Goodes, Zaharakis, Fyfe, Riewoldt, Chapman, Krak, Lynch

If I choose to upgrade mids I’m thinking either Higgins to S. Thompson or Ablett but if people have better suggestions feel free to let me in on them 😀
