Motts Movers R9 – The Rucks

Written by Motts on May 25 2011

Thrillers

Dean Cox ($513,200, 149, 126.25, 95) – Is it getting boring yet? Massive has been named in virtually every MM Thrillers section this year. How can I overlook him though with scores like 149? He’s rolling like a young buck again and has increased $85k in price since the beginning of the year. Next 5 opponents before his second bye: Collingwood, Gold Coast, Adelaide, Port Adelaide, and Carlton.

Aaron Sandilands ($554,000, 113, 121.25, 152) – Just missed his BE and consequently will now have to work his butt off when he comes back in a month to maintain his massive price. Whatever you do, do not trade him out. You will regret it.

Chillers

Shane Mumford ($476,300, 71, 108.38, 161) – Last 3 rounds: 92, 90, 71. Not disastrous but we had come to expect more from the big fella.

Kurt Tippett ($331,000, 59, 70.86, 125) – I warned you last week, K-Tip – pick up your game or your gonna get shamed. 59 doesn’t cut it. Whilst 3.1 is a decent return off the boot, the 3 frees against and only 1 tackle isn’t good enough. Especially when forward pressure is the buzzword of the moment. And while we’re on Adelaide’s forward pressure, have a guess how many tackles Taylor Walker has laid in 6 games?

Drillers

Drew Petrie ($356,700, 123, 87.57, 68) If he could string together 3 tons in a row I’d have no hesitation naming him up top. But while he’s interspersing magnificent games with scores like those he had against Port and Melbourne, he remains just a bloke who will provide good value for your team. Last 5 rounds: 149, 68, 102, 50, 123. Should be getting a run in plenty of teams this week given Sandi’s toe de turf.

Nic Naitanui ($387,200, 105, 87.57, 52) – That’s three tons in a row for Nic Nat. I have no doubt that there will be those who have a Sandi/Warnock ruck combo who will be strongly considering bringing him in this week. Interestingly, he’s scored exactly the same amount of SC points for the year as Petrie and has exactly the same average.

Special mentions: David Hille, Sam Jacobs, and Tyrone Vickery.

How many tackles has Taylor Walker laid in 6 games? 2. Guess who’s already signed his GWS contract?

  1. Ryder has to be a bit of a chiller, started the season with 130 odd then 140 odd, last 2 games have been 70 odd and 55

  2. What are people’s thoughts on Mummy? I have Mummy and Sandi, but getting concerned that mummy can’t compete with massive. I seem to keep coming up against teams with sandi and massive.

Would you recommend I trade mummy for the big cox?
    Thumbs up – yes
Thumbs down – no it’s a waste of a precious trade

  3. 2 tackles for Tex, which is less than the number of beers he had last saturday!

My dilemma is when to trade Goldstein to Sandi. Goldstein will likely peak in the next week at 450k which makes him a fairly smooth transition to the big fella. I’m worried that Goldy will drop in price before Sandi comes back. So, do I trade in an injured Sandi maybe a week early to make the most of Goldy’s bubble?

  4. Glad I did bite the bullet and got my rucks sorted when I did: Cox, Sandi, Z. Smith and Vardy. Going to run with Cox/Smith for a while.
Is Hale still out injured? if people are looking for a combo they could go Petrie/Hale but may be to expensive for the return IMHO.

  5. My rucks are Sandi, Jamar, Petrie and Smith. Petrie was doing a nice stand-in job for Jamar, but now that I’ve lost Sandi as well, I don’t know if I should leave it to Smith to fill his size-18 shoes, or trade in Cox for Jamar (who should be back in 2 weeks).
Another option is to trade in a MPP to switch Petrie into the forward line (trading out Tapscott or McKernan in the process) and play Smith with Cox.
    Any thoughts people?

  6. One thing I’m 100% happy with this year is my ruck set up.
    Sandilands, Cox, Smith, Tippet/Petrie.
Total flexibility, big scores, set and forget.
