Movers & Shakers – Rd12

Written by Schwarzwalder on June 9 2017

In the tradition of Motts’ Movers, ‘Movers & Shakers’ looks at those players making a big impact (or no impact) over a short amount of time.  We now have ample data after eleven weeks  to separate the ‘full-strengths’ from the ‘middies’.  This weeks Movers & Shakers are (Player, Club, Current Price, Average, 3-Round Average):

Michael Hibberd (MEL $473k, 101, 112) – Has made a very impressive start at his new club after his off-season trade from Essendon.  113, 110 & 114 from his last three games have him moving into many Supercoach backlines.  Imagine his output if he decided to lay a tackle or two……….

Matthew Suckling (WBD $384k, 79, 67) – Was still featuring heavily in Supercoach last season after his move to the Western Oval.  Not setting the world on fire this year however.  With 74, 63 & 66 from his last three appearances, his SC-relevance is non-existent in 2017.  (Another 76 last night.  Dogs were ordinary and Suckling only battled).

Dustin Martin (RIC $602k, 118, 144) – Only Dangerfield is averaging more points over the last three weeks.  And ironically, it’s probably Dangerfield that will get in the way of Dusty and a Brownlow Medal.  In scintillating form of late with 144, 125 & 165.  A lazy 38 touches and two goals against North last week……..GUN!

Matt Priddis (WCE $479k, 97, 78) – Curly started the season fairly strong with five tons from his first eight games.  He’s dropped off sharply recently with 73, 81 & 80.  When’s the last time we saw Priddis under $500k and it wasn’t the result of a concussion?  West Coast has a decent draw after the bye but not sure he’s worth the risk this time around………..

Todd Goldstein (NTH $535k, 96, 108) – After a sluggish start to the year, Goldy has been solid over the last five weeks without Preuss (111, 107, 135, 89, 100).  He hasn’t quite recaptured that 2015 form and isn’t going large.  But with the Rucks in such disarray this year, Goldy could provide a solid option once again till the end of the year……….

Sam Jacobs (ADE $505k, 96, 83) –  Averaged 107 between Rds 2-8 and even made the Movers list a few weeks ago.  Since then he’s just been average with 82, 84 & 82 over the last three weeks.  All those new owners will be hoping for some more tons……..and soon……..

Justin Westhoff (PTA $467k, 86, 99) – One of the best downhill skiers you’ll ever see in the AFL.  The Power are on a roll however and The Hoff has been consistent of late with 97, 101 & 98.  In a very tricky year for FWDs, The Hoff might become a decent POD in the following weeks.

Mark LeCras (WCE $337k, 66.7, 50) – Whatever happened to the Frenchman?  Still capable of a magic moment or two but can’t sustain a four-qtr effort.  With a 53, 52 & 46 recently, it’s safe to scratch him from any SC lists in future……….

Have you been lucky enough to jump on a Mover at the right time?  Or had some bad luck with a Shaker or two?  Let us know about it………

    1. Houli’s average is inflated due to Ramadan but an average of 6.5 tackles in the last 2 games is a great sign that maybe he could sustain a 100+ average for the remainder of the season.

        1. Sorry. I meant to say that his season avg has been inflated due to the high scores throughout Ramadan which have been due to an increase in his tackling numbers.

    1. Nothing what so over. And I always thought the theory was that he played badly during ramadan (due to fasting) not that he played well. He has disproved that theory this year .
