Movers & Shakers – Round 15

Written by The Salamander on June 27 2019

Player Name (Other position) (Club, Price, Average, 3-round-average, 5-round-average)

DEFENDERS

Dane Rampe (SYD, $542,800, 95.9, 127,7, 113.6)
I don’t profess to have any knowledge of whether or not he can keep this up, but the man with the best moustache in the AFL has been in terrific form lately, posting 104, 135, 148, and 100 over his last 4 games. He’s probably a bit expensive to bring in at the moment, but well done to anyone who started him.

Shane Savage (STK, $397,500, 84.0, 64.3, 75.4)
Averaging 90 until just over a month ago, Savage has since fallen off a cliff, scoring 71, 44, 77, and 72 over the last 4 weeks.

MIDFIELDERS

Luke Parker (SYD, $632,300, 114.6, 131.0, 134.6)
One question: where was this form last year!? As someone who started and held him all through last season, his form this year has been painful to watch, but well done to anyone who started him.

Lachie Neale (BRL, $558,700, 120.4, 99.7, 105.2)
Did Ed Curnow break Lachie? He hasn’t looked the same since half-time in the Carlton game. Hopefully for his owners it’s just a short-term thing,

RUCKS

Scott Lycett (FWD) (PTA, $495,900, 95.0, 135.3, 113.2)
Wow. His previous month had been impressive, but his 180 on the weekend really was exceptional. His draw for the remainder of the year is reasonably soft – he doesn’t face Gawn or Grundy again this season – and if he can keep rucking solo, rather than with help from from Ryder, his baseline level of scoring should rise from around 80 to at least 90 points per week, making him a great pick for the back half of the year, especially if you’re looking for swinging ruck cover. Oh, and he plays the Bulldogs this week. Need I say more?

Ben McEvoy (HAW, $423,800, 91.9, 61.3, 74.0)
This one might be a tad unfair, because if you take out his injury-affected round 9 score, he hasn’t been going too badly lately, although given how well he started the year (‘Big Boy’ had averaged 103 over the first 8 weeks), his drop-off still bears mentioning, having posted scores of 90 and 55 since returning from injury. Fingers crossed for his handful of owners that he can turn thing around over the last 9 weeks.

FORWARDS

Josh Dunkley (MID) (WBD, $614,500, 107.4, 131.0, 122.2)
He’s been in amazing form for 6 of the last 7 weeks (and even the one down week wasn’t that bad), and has thoroughly rewarded those who held him through is lean patch earlier in the year. Most people probably don’t have the cash to bring him in, but if you do, he’s definitely worth a look; just keep in mind that, as with all Magnets-coached players, he could find himself in a forward pocket at any time, without notice. He probably won’t, but the risk is still worth keeping in mind.

David Mundy (MID) (FRE, $446,800, 94.5, 59.7, 82.4)
I think I may have recommended him in one of my columns a little while back. He’s since gone and scored 40, 76, and 63 across his last three games. Sorry about that. But surely he can’t keep up this poor scoring forever? And assuming he doesn’t, he’s going to be very cheap whenever he manages to turn things around.

  1. Milera has gone 66, 52 since I took a punt on him, and now he’s listed as a test this week with a back complaint. Welcome to the never again list, Wayyyyyne.

  2. Made same move Chillo .
Tempted to move him this week but as I have bench cover being out maybe a good thing as he won’t lose value and will be straight swap to Hurn next week.
Considering Naish so I can do double upgrade next week if named but already have loop hole option of Gardner and Young not playing so don’t need another one.

  3. What are the thoughts on Lycett as a genuine F6 / ruck injury cover? His match-ups do look great and if Ryder isn’t named again … SC gives him a projected average of 106.7 from here til season’s end. Not that I take much notice of their crass projections but if he gets even close to that, at his price he is a bargain.

    1. I think that if Lycett can ruck solo for the rest of the year he will average 100+ but I don’t think they will leave Ryder in the SANFL for the rest of the year.
But them beating Geelong without Ryder throws a spanner in the works to that plan so could be a matter of results.

      1. I do think some of the changes for the Port/Geelong game were an effort to go smaller to match up with Geelong.

      2. Thanks you two. Sounds a bit risky for F6.

Am now thinking of this …

        OUT: Rockliff
IN: Lycett (via Heeney to M8)

Next week through trades I can swing Heeney back FWD and Gardner to F8 (if Ryder is back) and use him to loophole two of Lycett, Heeney and Greene depending on fixtures, form and oppo.

        TU: good plan
        TD: eejit

        1. The other reason apart from potential huge points this week v Dogs, is that should either of BroMax go down, I have immediate cover, Lycett via Bines, with Heeney and Greene at F5/6. No trades required.

          1. I’m looking at Lobb for this exact reason. ROB maxs out in two weeks, Lobb is slated to return from injury in two. Not sure it will actually work out that neatly, but geez it would be nice if it did!

    2. Hey All Saints
I would be tempted if my forward line was not complete and I didn’t have more pressing issues.
