MRP – R6

Written by Motts on May 1 2017

THE MATCH Review Panel has come down hard on serial offender Toby Greene, offering the Greater Western Sydney star a two-match ban for his hit on Caleb Daniel.

Greene, who struck Daniel in a marking contest in Friday night’s clash against the Western Bulldogs, was charged with intentional striking and making medium impact to his opponent’s head.

The All Australian will miss matches against St Kilda and Collingwood if he accepts the ban.

Richmond ruckman Toby Nankervis was the only other player suspended out of round six, with the MRP offering the gun recruit a one-match ban for an off-the-ball hit on Adelaide’s David Mackay.

Fremantle superstar Nat Fyfe can accept a fine for his strike on Elliot Yeo.

  1. Nankervis: The incident was assessed as careless conduct with medium impact to the head. The incident was classified as a two-match sanction. The player has no applicable record which impacts the penalty. An early plea enables the player to accept a one-match sanction.

    Fyfe: The incident was assessed as careless conduct with low impact to the head. The incident was classified as a $1500 sanction. The player has no applicable record with impacts the penalty. An early plea enables the player to accept a $1000 sanction.

    So
    Medium = 2 weeks
    Low = $1,500 Fine

    1. 1 with a guilty plea though. The punishments are just based around players accepting early pleas to get the reduction.

      If you can accept a 1 week down to 0 why would anyone ever challenge that anyway? There’d be no point in it having a baseline 1 week because it would be reduced to 0 100% of the time.

  2. Nank is in my rucks and now that he is suspended what should I do?

    TU Marchbank-Hibberd and Parfitt-Dusty (would have to take Nanks 0)

    Or

    TD Parfitt-S Martin

    1. Bailey – I have the same dilemma.

      The only problems with getting S Martin this week are:

      1. His BE is 152, so he will be a fair bit cheaper next week.
      2. This looks like the best week to do a double rookie downgrade (EVW, Parsons, Black etc) – as the rookie options next week look poor.

      As Nank only got one week, I think I am going to cop the 0 if Parsons is named.

      In your case, if you are only really going for a league win, then I would do your thumbs up option (but you do need to get a back up ruck to send Nank forward at some point).

    2. Mate this is a panic trade. One week is nothing. is like your player scoring a 40 or getting injured in the first quarter or something. Don’t waste your trade. Do it only if you want to change The ruck and you were going to get s Martin down the road anyway. Don’t forget the other byes will impact your team more as you can get many donuts. I will save my trades for then.
      TU for me. Dusty and Hibberd scores over 100 will make up for the difference.
