FORWARDS
Original revisions had a ton of blokes in here that I considered to be good value. Names like Rusling, Reid, Jetta, Walker, Veszpremi and Burton. In the end though, I’ve gone with proven performers that don’t have such an injury question mark over their heads. Given my ruck division and some of my backs I think it was the right decision to make.
A Didak ($558,600, 105.18) – as much as I hate having a Pies player in the team you gotta give a spot to a bloke averaging over 100. If I could afford Roo I’d take him but I can’t so a small forward who spends time in the guts will have to do.
M Pavlich ($528,900, 99.58) – year in, year out he gets the job done. When it comes down to the last game of the round, you’re down by a handful of points and you’ve got Pav representing you and not the other guy, you’ve got to be confident.
C Rioli ($417,700, 78.63) – third year in the league for this magician should be a breakout.
L Franklin ($466,700, 87.86) – had an average 2009 and still managed almost 90 a game. With a healthy midfield delivering it to him laces out all year he’ll kick another ton.
J Ziebell ($320,800, 60.40) – showed enough in the 10 games he played last year to get a spot on my list. Hopefully The Bible gives him some time in the midfield to bump up his stats.
L Henderson ($301,200, 56.71) – ok so maybe a little bit of Carlton bias came into play here but with the departure of Fev he may get some decent minutes and is another dual position player (Forward, Defender) which with the new rule could prove valuable.
A Wonaeamirri ($177,900) – this bloke seems priced way too low – I’ll take the value gain and flip him (maybe even for Jurrah depending on how he starts the season).
Emergencies
J Watts ($139,900, 26.33) – #1 pick + cheap + second year in + beefier frame + plays in a crap team = no brainer for an emergency
P Davis ($100,200) – another bloke I’m still undecided about – will need to see his pre-season form before making a final decision. Maybe I’ll jump on BOB’s Majak.
So there’s the team. What do people think? Is it going to get me those crucial first few round wins? Who have I missed that needs to be in there?

A Didak is our only common FWD at this stage Motts.
I have D.Thomas, N.Riewoldt almost in pen and a few other place holders. I will admit i’ve run out of money and need to shuffle some of the backline to make way for some key forwards.
Plenty of time until it needs to be finalised and i’ll be keeping a close eye on the NAB Cup R1 this weekend.

Didak – agree on the “pie” comment, esp someone like Didak but you can learn to love anyone who consistently gets you 100+ each week
Pav – love him (should be playing for Adelaide……grumble, grumble)
Rioli – a lot to like except his interrupted preseason
Buddy – likewise (at least he’s getting a game this week – will be watching closely)
J-Z – worth a punt; I’ve got him in version 17b
Henderson – dunno, worth a punt (for a Blues supporter)
Wona – not sure of injury status
Watts – Was in my earlier version but seemed too expensive to sit on the pine and not quite a starter (not much to go on until the NAB)
Davis – like him, got him

Duck, beware of Thomas. He looks a million bucks during the game and then you check his score and it’s pretty ordinary.

Agreed on this point. Daisy always gets massive wraps pre-season but never quite lives up to the hype. His 2009 average of 74 doesn’t exactly set the world on fire, does it? For his price you may want to consider Hurley subject to whatever further penalties the Dons throw at him for his minor indiscretion with a cab driver on GF day last year.

Will have a bo-peep at Hurley during todays cut of the team.

Fair point … my appeal was he’s interchangeable in the MID under the new emergency ruling if i needed him.

If looking for dual position forward, you might consider Dangerfield.

i think mark williams is worth a punt at $303’000. price will surely rise significantly if he is the number one forward. knows how to kick goals, dont think there any lingering injuries. also surely you have to have riewoldt in your team, anyway…..

Yeah I guess it came down to M Williams or Hendo for me and being a Blues supporter I’ve lobbed for my boy. Will watch his NAB Cup form carefully because at this stage I do agree that Willo would be a safer bet.
Regarding Riewoldt, I’m still touching the side up and in this morning’s version he’s in. Wanted Didak out anyway

I’m new to this forum, but can’t help but think there is great value in forward line this year. The obvious one in Franklin, certain to be better this year (unfortunately, so too hawks), Stevie J will be back to his old tricks $473k, and will only go up in price.
The other out of the hat is Chris Knights $441k. I think he’s a good chance to be the next Paul Chappy. Should have plenty of help up forward for the crows, and can move into the middle for spells.
A real roughy could be Graham Polak $231k, who by all reports will be upgraded from rookie. Will wait to see the NAB games.
And for anyone looking for under the $100k mark, look no further than TDL for the swans.

After his performance on Saturday night, Franklin is a lock. I could live to regret it but I’m still worried about Stevie J’s hips. Knights is definitely worth a punt. Polak’s 27 points haven’t left me salivating for the guy and I’ve heard nothing about Dennis-Lane – what do you know?

I heard the Dennis-Lane kicked 5 in a scratch match (altho, haven’t been able to confirm). Sydney are without Hall and now Mickey O. Might move in straight away if Jess White doesn’t do much.

You made a statement about injury question marks, but picked Wonaeamirri? Not sure about his injuries. Suppose you have to pick someone @ that price.
