Pre Season Rookie Review – Rucks

Written by Big Sexy on March 21 2013

Top 5 Rucks – In no particular order

D Currie (North) $109k  Taken at Pick 56 in the 2012 National draft after spending time on the Sydney list.  He’s only 23 and 199cm, and Goldy is gona need some backup (either Currie or Daw)

M Daw (North) $115k  Was the 9th Pick in the 2009 Rookie Draft and is now 22yo and rolls around the ground at 195cm.  He’s also the first Sudanese decent to be drafted to an AFL club.  He’s expected to get a run at some stage this year, will Currie or Daw get first run?  Or will North run all 3?

J Witts (Coll) $115k:  Taken Pick 67 in the 2012 National Draft.  208cm monster who just turned 20, and no doubt Jolly’s body wont last the season so surely will get a run at some point.

S Grimley (Haw) $115k:  A 199cm big man and is now 21 and looking to take the next step.  I personally think rucks are where the hawks have the biggest gap and expect Grimley will get a run early this year.

S Rowe (Carl) $115k:  He is 198cm and probably more of a forward than a ruck.  Rowe was taken pick 44 in the 2011 National Draft and didn’t play last season after being diagnosed with testicular cancer.  So whilst a great effort to come back, I wasn’t particularly impressed with his Nab cup form.

Tell me who should be be added or removed from the list in the comments.
