  2. I’m looking to replace Shaun Higgins. My options are Irons, McKernan or Matera.
Which of my bench warmers do you prefer?

  4. Just wondering. Should i cash in on rookies/cash cows for the next three weeks at the expense of scoring lower? or just maintain the same team that i have that is doing fine [avg-2273]?

-Should i trade Ottens out? or just keep him as he wont’ have a bye for the next few weeks?

  5. Talking about a tough crowd, I’m amazed that two people have clicked the dislike button on my desire to find a suitable replacement for a bloke that has a bye this week.

  6. Bye or no bye, you pick players at the start of a year to either be keepers or cash cows. Higgins has made you $23,800 but you have burnt a trade. Even worse, the bloke scored 122 last week so only has to get half decent scores in rnds 5 & 6 & he’ll rise a further 50K. If you want to side trade him for a Didak or similar then do so or cash him in for a rookie and pocket, however the way he’s playing i would keep him until he gets injured. Finally, unless you are in the top 1000 for the big prize & not bothered about your league then players having a bye during a non league round should be a bonus & you are better off winging it with no emergencies.

  7. I think HGL is going to put Missy on the pine, but is unaware of who to bring on for him, that’s all. Smack imo.

  8. Andy, I’m NOT looking @ trading Higgins, I’m moving him to my bench for one of the three bench players I mentioned earlier.

  9. well if bellchambers gets a gig his $$$$ wil sky rocket after last weeks 120 is pretty cheap but prob wouldnt keep him around for long im just keeping him to make some cash since zac smith is doing a more than capable job of holding up my 2nd ruck spot

  10. My apologies. You do get some knackers that would look at such a trade, obviously not yourself. McKernan should do alright against Port if he is named so i reckon a toss up between him & Matera.

  11. Depends, if you are just trying to win your leagues I would wait and see as you may get job security or injury issues with those you bring in if you trade now, and have to trade again when the league fixtures start again. If you are going for the weekly or main prizes then cashing in wouldn’t be a bad idea as that would also help you get through the rookie bottleneck in a few rounds time.

  12. I agree with Fee Fye Foe Thumb, in if you trade now and then get injuries, you’ll be a bit buggered. But in saying that, the next few weeks could lift you up through the rankings if you trade wisely, as I think a lot won’t be doing any to few trades.

Which cash cows are you looking at? Because obviously none of them have really peaked. The big cashcows like Curnow, LIbba etc are still going to go up in price, even if they don’t play well. If they get dropped, or stall in price, then trade. But at this stage, I’d think you’d only be making 60-100k. You might be better to look at an underperforming mid-pricer.

As for the scores, you’ve got a great average. I expect scores to be down across the board, especially for this round and round 6.

Well, in the end, I’m not sure I’ve helped you at all… Maybe only that the fact that the cows aren’t fat enough yet!

  13. Omen predicts a Crow comeback in the local derby. Big scores on the horizon for Knights, McKernan and Ottens. Go with the Big Mac!

  14. Depends if you’re after R1 or R2. If Jolly was your R1, then do yourself a favour and buy a real ruckman. Can’t go past Cox or Sandilands for a premium. If its R2 you’re replacing, Smith is a great option and will save you some $$$.

  15. What to do with Otten A?

At 185k he’s not worth a cracker, so its hard to replace him, especially if you have as many DEF rookies as I do. I’d like a premium backman but can’t manage that in one trade.

So here’s my idea. Sooner or later one of my premiums will go bang! As soon as that happens, I’ll have to trade him out. At that moment, I’ll be looking to downgrade said premium LTI, maybe to a return-from-injury player (e.g Scully or similar) and then upgrade Otten to premium in the backline. That will be two trades but should give me a good outcome.

    Will this work?

  16. Spot on. If you aren’t expecting to do anything overall(this from mr 47,424) then hold onto your good players during the bye and put them on the pine. Especially the byes before round 7 where ther will be no league action. Spend the time perfecting your team and while emergencies will be needed; the question to be asked is could that extra money being used on expensive emergencies be better employed getting you the best players? After 3 rounds my score is about 6400 but on top of that I have about 700 from bench players. I know if is the largest word in the English language but all I required to be close to the lead would have been Embley, Griffen, Rioli and Cox; all players who I considered but did not pick up as I thought the bye would require better players on the bench.
