  1. Having a good look at Gibson and Ellis. Ellis is pretty much set in the team for me but still want to see his performance. Gibson I don’t know much about so I want to see what the big hype is about!

  2. As a hawks supporter Im keeping an eye out for the hawks’ young guns, the likes of Wanganeen and Brad Hill will be interesting to see.

  5. Was at Etihad for the start of the footy and a few things stood out to me:

    * Franklin lining up on the wing at the start of the night was genuinely exciting but his increased amount of touches may be slightly offset by his increased frees against. Still, you seriosuly can’t win SuperCoach without him in your team come Rnd 1. Guy behind me made the observation that Buddy may be in EVERY SuperCoach team this year.

    * Word out of Waverley has been that Cyril may be pushing up the ground. Well if tonight’s anything to go by he might have pushed all the way up the grouod to defence as he spent most of game 3 in the back pocket on the push up king. At one point he came to the bench near where i was sitting and got the routine hamstring rub down by the trainers but it got me thinking, how the f*** do you change an elite athlete’s running style to protect their hammy’s. He’ll still probably make my team but ………

    * Richmond supporters have been seriously starved of success. Their joy in leading in the last few minutes of Rnd 1 of the NAB Cup was ridiculous. Pretty sure they don’t hand out premiership points in Feb.

    * Still don’t see how H and Goldy will work as a ruck combo. Think they’ll both play but their scores may suffer as a result.

    * New season but if Lindsay Thomas kicks a goal from a set shot it’s a fluke and he knows it. Like when a mug golfer hits it pin high with his 6-iron.

  6. Nice work roo bloke, I didn’t catch any of the games, was out but IQ is waiting, how did Gibson go? 9 touches look good on paper against the hawks.

  7. Good work Roo. The more agents we can get on the front line the better we’ll all be travelling 🙂

Personally, I’ve got no problem with the Tiger supporters getting up and and about at the end of the game. Summers always too long for a footy fan and if that first little taste is sweet then you deserve to lap it up.

I don’t think their players reactions with the hugging and shit at the end of the game was a good look though. I know they’ve been been starved of success but to me that comes across as a lack of believe in where they are headed. Shows that they didn’t give themselves a realistic chance and were shocked with the win……in the first round of the NAB Cup……after less than half a game. Embrace it Tiger Cubs. Get used to it…. whether you’re are up there with the big boys right now or not is irrelevant. If they play and react like they should be there, the winning habits will come a lot quicker.

  8. There weren’t that many that I was looking at tonight, but…

Was impressed with Morris for the Tigers, kept going hard at the pill. Ellis on the other hand, was quite disappointing. Didn’t really notice him in the first game so I checked his number in between their games (42 as it turns out) and paid attention to him in their second hit out. He had five touches which came in about three minutes and was basically unsighted for the rest of the game. I did notice that he seemed to be in the red vest at the end of the game. Anyone know if/when he was subbed out?

North: Gibson grabbed my eye, very impressive. H-Mac had never seriously been in my thinking, but he did look good.

Hawthorn: Still seem to be possessing the footy which is nice. Birchall and Suckling looked good. So did Cyril, but I can’t touch him and his soft tissue injuries. Buddy was Buddy-awesome. Mitchell looked good. Hodge was surprisingly ineffectual I thought. Lewis was ultra-impressive.

Overall, so glad to have the footy back. Now, bring on the Giants!
