NAB4

Written by Motts on March 16 2012

Big news already coming out of this round of almost-footy.

Christensen not named, concussion to Lenny, good games from Marty Clarke, Tommy Ledger, Aaron Siposs and Jamie Cripps. Oh and Nick Maxwell did an ankle (but us professional SuperCoaches really couldn’t care about that) (unless it opens up a spot for Yagmoor of course 😉 )

Any observations you’d like to make to the world?

  1. pendles 114 DT points swan 66 and goddard 83 what does that mean in supercoach? does it mean pendles played good goddard ok and swan average

  2. Pendles still not worth the 700k!
I still can’t decide on Goddard, before this game he looked like he didn’t wanna be there.

  3. Pendlebury – professional
    Swan – concerned
Clarke – Not sure it is enought to warrant the price tag.
Ledger – impressive but why did he start as sub? Will this be a trend?
    Goddard – Solid
Saad – not sure it is enough points to get a gig
McEvoy – low score, was he resting in the forward line all game? Unsure

  4. Very interested in MceVoy’s game, can anyone please elaborate. If Jolly has given him a bath that is very worrying.

  5. Many rookies have fallen away, especially forwards.
What do you think are your rookie locks for back/mid/fwd?

  7. Buddy 85 dt points at half time. Hale on 84…. Making me consider the rucks. Aye I could change jackyroo to hale in my fwd line. Don’t want to though, surely jack will be better than last year.

  9. What does everyone think about David Hale? Could be a good 2nd ruck option as he can also swing forward, and has done well in the past 2 nab games. Also if Buddy pushes up the ground, it will leave space for the big fella up forward. I know it sounds ambitious, but just throwing it out there.
    Thumbs up: Worth a punt
    Thumbs down: I’m kidding myself

  10. Pendles I said isn’t worth 700k yeah, but I say it for a start of the season price. He will have to make his b/e score for the first 3 games to maintain that price!
I think ablett is a way better option at the start of the year at 686 k due to his abnormally large scores he can produce, with his first round projection score to be 153.

  11. True, but ablett is your x-factor! Have him as captain he makes big scores. Pendles is mr consistant and worth getting but his price will drop a small bit and there are way more cheaper options that are consistant, Boyd for example
The likelyhood of you being able to afford abblett and Pendles is very slim, unless you want a team that is not good allround

  12. What do we think of having the 1 3 strategy for rucks with hale as the 1 saves 200000 and he is looking good

  13. After tonight and the NAB I have Hale Second Ruck and Sammy Mitchell a definite lock for midfield. He just keeps racking them up Mitchell.
Think not a bad midfield Mix for the P’s and the early Draw Ablett, Mitchell, A Swallow, Redden, you could do worse and at least different.

  14. Did any body see the power tonight? Was Redden resting forward? Did they just want to give Stewart a run?

  15. Hey guys wanted some advice, my midfield consists of:
GAJ, priddis, joelwood, Cotchin, coniglio and wingard…
I was wondering if you guys would suggest downgrading coniglio to Clifton and upgrading cotchin to pavlich.
Thumbs up if ya like it, thumbs down if ya dont, cheers to all who comment with advice aswell.

  16. My advice would be to downgrade Coniglio and Wingard to upgrade Cotchin to an elite premium in Murphy for example.

  17. Who would you suggest as replacements? One would be clifton, but who else I already have clay smith and Anthony miles… I think I’ll go koby Stevens and Clifton, I know there not the cheepest rookies, your opinions?

  19. I’ve been umming and rrrrring about ledger. I think he will be a sub a lot this year so haven’t included him. Went with Clay Smith instead.
I’m worried bout Butcher. I have him in my team as I think he is a bargain at that price but now might be suspended for the start of season

  21. Went along to AAMI last night to see the Power v Melbourne. Demon’s were very ordinary, probably only Jones, Mitch Clarke & Garland stood out for me, but none of them are in my team. Power’s Jarrad Redden confirmed to me he is a lock on my bench, although Jamar took the points on the night, it was a great learning experience also spending time up forward and my opinion will start round 1. Travis Boak has certainly beefed up and looks good. Butcher was very quiet, will be good but not for supercoach. Got reported late in the last quarter, saw the incident, and in my unbiased opinion was in the contest, however because the Melb player went off on stretcher doesn’t look well for him. May miss 1 game. Rookie Pfeiffer did ok playing off half back and stints in the middle and did enough to suggest he could start round 1. McCarthy was excellent until subbed as to Broadbent, but the one player that definitely is locked in my team is Robbie Gray. He’s in for a big year. Never seen him look so fit, attitude is spot on and in the midfield finding plenty of the ball. Finally a smokey in the fwd line that not too many would know about – Aaron Young, a lively character who showed enough and impressed me at $113,200 is a possibility of a round 1 berth, but probably more of a downgrade target. Keep an eye on him anyway. Enjoy your weekend fellow supercoachers!

  22. Gday Guys,
Got a little bit of cash to splash for my last position on the field.
Got about $550K to use, but debating on whether or not to use it on a forward or a defender.
    My 2 options I am thinking are…
    Thumbs Up – Broughton Defender
Thumbs Down – Hale Forward (Plus 100K)
Votes & Feedback much appreciated boys.
    GO HAWKS!

Swear I heard his name more than once but for some reason he’s not listed on the FF score sheet.

  30. I promised myself I would resist the midpricers this year, but having already been sucked in by Dangerfield, Malceski is also seriously testing my resolve. I’ve got him at D3 right now, allowing me to run 4 prem Mids and Fwds (+ Danger), 2 prem Rucks, 2 prem Defs and some higher priced rookies hopefully for job security (Cripps, Ellis, Bower, D.Smith).

    Please help:
Thumbs Up- Do it, you know you want to.

  34. Boys, slight dilemma…
At the moment running with Jacobs / Swan in Ruck and Midfield, with $200K remaining in my kitty.
My dilemma is that I can upgrade to Cox / Pendlebury for exactly $200K and be left with no money though (is this a worry?)
    Thumbs Up – Keep Jacobs / Swan & $200K
Thumbs Down – Cox / Pendles & BROKE!!!

  35. Good people,

I was wondering what the importance is in having rookie DPP’s in your midfield BEFORE the BYE.

I’ve got several MID rookies that I want to go with in the midfield, but am conscious of keeping two spots for a M/D DPP rookie and a M/F DPP rookie.

That being said, since we don’t have to deal with BYES until R11, is it still essential?

Thumbs UP for MPP rookies in midfield at R1
Thumbs DOWN for getting them later (before the BYES)

    Would also love some commentary.

    Cheers.

  36. Mine has put the bloody swimming on. I ASK YOU.
Just had a tanty and he’s flipped the channel over, lol.
My mistake for letting him have the remote control. They who have the remote have the power. At least he’s not playing call of duty for once I suppose!

  39. I am a bit annoyed at the screw over going on at the Herald Sun and supercoach this year. They want you to pay for Supercoach Gold, the Supercoach App and now a lot of the stories are behind the paywall that you have to pay to get and you still get ads. Is it just me??

  42. McDonald (GWS) played well, raking up a good DT score. Does anyone know about what his SC score was?? and is he injured because the stupid free trial for SC Gold says he will return week two because of an ankle injury.

    Please explain….

  43. Looking at my Rucks and going mid range this year as I think there is plenty of upside in guys like Maric, McIntosh, West and Hale, and good upgrade targets to Mumford, Sandi and Coxy

I’ve locked in Maric but thinking about Hale and West

    Can I get a:
    thumbs up for Hale
    Thumbs down for West

    Keen to know peoples thoughts.

    Cheers

  46. Read a theory about how best to manage rookie selections the other day on another website (read ’em all at this stage of the season but i have only one true love and that is SCTalk).

Theory was rather than selecting the rookies now, you are better off listing all rookie selections in each line in your preferred order. Then when it comes to selection time you just pick those that are named. Avoids the stress of last year where half of the expected Rnd 1 premiums weren’t named Rnd 1.

    0

    0
  47. Also have another thought.

With no team having a Rnd 1 bye it does make it a fraction harder to try and exploit the captaincy loophole this year. It would require you to deliberately select someone in your initial squad that is not selected in Rnd 1, maybe a non-playing R4 could be bumped into the R2 position.

Also there’s a two stage partial lockout and yo ucna only have a crack once. Goodes, Deledio, Murphy and Judd are probably the only players that you could really have a crack at the captaincy loophole with. But is it worth sacraficing a bench position to a non-starter just to get the chance at an extra 40-50 points in week 1??

    What are other people’s thoughts?
Thumbs up – i am planning on a crack at the captaincy loophole
Thumbs down – don’t want to sacrifice my overall strategy for the sake of a few points
