  1. This is becoming too easy…There will be loop holes everywhere with the rolling lock out and then 30 trades on top of that …The less skilled will have plenty of time to recover from bad trades..and an extra emergency to go with it….Deary me……..I do however like the extra mids for less forwards/backs…..I think thats smart and relevant to where the game is at…

  2. Well they have certainly made the game easier. I like rolling lockouts and the extra midfielders, and the draft format will be fun. Not so hot on the extra traded though, they will be great don’t get me wrong it just seems like they are dumbing the game down a bit.

  3. The 30 players paves way for the SC coaches that dont want to or cant change their team every 10 minutes of the day , its for them to lock and forget on ie Thursday or Friday night then they will look on Monday to see how they went .
8 Mids , i hope we can have an increase in $$$$$.

  4. Don’t like it at all way too easy this was the fun, exciting and challenging part of SC. Why is it games always seem to be created to suit the ‘not so good’ players. People that aren’t too good should just practice and read lots of info like most of the rest of us did.

  5. I love it all! The rolling lockout, the extra trades (because I love to trade!), and the free draft. Some say it makes it easier. I say it makes it harder (for those who want separate themselves from the pack). More focus on player performance and less affect from luck and AFL coaching malfeasance!

Certainly the free draft opens up a mouthwatering selection of new SCT leagues!

  6. Word is that DT will have Steve Johnson, Bryce Gibbs, Dean Cox and Nic Nat all as DPP’s, whilst Matty Pavlich and Adam Goodes will be in the forwards alone.

  7. Welcome back all to this great site looking forward to another great year of supercoach. Can anyone tell me when we can access supercoach ( I’d heard if you had gold this year you could get on early ?) cheers

  8. In a word? Terrible.

If they really wanted to follow where the game is going, they would have kept the positions the same, but increased the number of DPP’s. This solves two problems:

1 – It increases the ‘reality’ of the game as teams rotate more players through the midfield. The ability to play more than one position on the field is paramount in the modern game; and
2 – It increases the flexibility of teams, meaning that you don’t need extra trades.

Which bring me to my second problem: 30 trades. Seriously?! What happened to planning and skill with selecting the right players at the right time to get the best team possible. Just pandering to people who have little-to-no self control and become trigger happy on the trades.

Ironically, the rolling lockouts are pandering to the exact opposite portion of the game. This benefits those who have nothing better to do but update their teams every time the final teams come out. If you are taking the game seriously, you now have to have access to SuperCoach all weekend to know exactly what is going on with every game.

I think the changes are simultaneously confusing and ridiculous. If I didn’t know any better, I would assume that KB and the infamous Rules of the Game committee had got their hands on VirtualSports and decided to make ill-conceived changes for the sake of change

Tiny bit of credit where it is due though, I like the four emergencies. That really just seemed a no brainer.

  9. I like the changes, particularly the extra mids.

I also like the new DPP’s – TOM Rockliff, Bryce Gibbs and Steve Johnson, Paddy Ryder, Dean Cox, Nic Naitanui, Dyson Heppell (mid/def), Dale Thomas (fwd/mid), Jimmy Bartel (fwd/mid) and Cyril Rioli (fwd/mid). Some gold in that list.

  10. I’m in an arguing type mood tonight.

Why is everyone complaining so much about the rule changes? it is making the game easier yes. however the best players, that do their research and make the good decisions will still get the better scores and end up high in the rankings.

The rolling lockout wont be that bad. if the close the captain loophole then
what they’ve done is fix the problem of late withdrawals and resting that we complained about all of last year about. Lets face it half of us are glued to a laptop or smart phone watching updates all weekend anyway. might as well have it be useful.

most people are happy with the formation and emergency changes.

30 trades will make it easier to get a “complete” team but everyone will get them and again, you”ve still got to use them wisely to make the best possible team. its not 2 trades a week. The best will still rise to the top

I have heard rumours that the MBR’s will be top 18 scorers only, no matter what position played. Can anyone confirm this?

  11. I don’t see how these rule changes make the game easier? Everyone on is in the same boat and i think it will be just as hard to finish high in the rankings. It’s all relative.

  14. I think not matter what changes they make this year it is still a tough one.

No mention of increasing the Salary cap so the 10 million you still have to spend wisely and need to do your research to get the best rookies in your team, which are still lacking with no new team in the comp. The extra trades will be pinned at the Bye Rounds, which most of our smart people held off on last year. Next year you will have no choice as your competitors will be trading over this period in and out because they have them. This will enable you to maximise your score over these 3 rounds. If they do as Michael Suggest maybe not, but I would imagine that is what they are looking at. We all traded basically Nil over this period this will give you 6 for the period.

Anyway my take on the increase trades. If you waste them by picking poor rookies at the start, then you will get pummelled over the bye rounds.

  15. The rolling lockout is a shite idea. It’s a joke. I hate it.
No other FFL or fantasy league of a different code does that and it works well.
Wow, late withdrawls really must’ve cost someone who runs SC a 100k bet on winning his league. Jokers.

My advice to all is to ignore the rule, unless absolutely bloody necessary. I.e ablett gets his knee crunched by a taxi travelling from tullamarine to the G.
    And save your trades!
More trades doesn’t mean much if you still trade high. The sheeple will still fall short and if you can snag 2 trades a final you’ve got to save maybe 8 to use in finals depending on results. So one trade a round? plus the byes? I don’t think so.

You folk here are wise to the ways of setting up a good SC team from the go.

Research still counts. Witts? maybe. Majak daw maybe?

    I’m rambling. Need food.

  16. To quote J R
“I’d already noticed people dropping out of leagues when they can’t cut the mustard against others who live and breathe the game. This just makes it that bit harder to stay competitive for the fringe of fantasy football coaches.

We risk losing the fringe to the game here.”

So rolling lockout means you have to have footymad/no female in life/no LIFE

    It’s TOO involved for me.

  17. HIGH HORSE TIME!

Why use the a similar systems as the EPL site.
It would go abit like this.

Final team for the round in by 7pm friday.
You can trade after that, but only activaes for the next round.

Also, I’d love it if, rather than basing the price rise or fall on performance, it was a stock market type situation where by players prices would ebb and flow according to the amount of players trading them in or out.

It’s works on performance really, but it’s up the players to plunge.
Also allows for more differentials – cheap awesome players cause they aren’t as popular, of course it doesn’t last when ppl see a cheap option…..

I still have my final supercoach team score on my computer for 2012.

When do we submit to you guys for evaluation of the leagues we can get in for 2013.

    Cheers

  20. i dont understand the combination of an extra emergency and a rolling lockout? it should be one or the other. If youve got a rolling lockout theres no reason to have emergencies because you should know if youre guy is playing/the sub/out. However its a great idea if there was no rolling lockout. I play nfl fantasy as well and that works great, theres no emergencies, and it has a rolling lockout. System works well, granted theres no captain/vice captains in that to take advantage of, but when theres no byes, whats the point? in order to take advantage youd need to put someone in to take a zero which is probably worse than the benefit gained of choosing another captain.

  23. My wife found my 2013 SC cheat sheets last weekend, great timing with 2012 SC gold now allowing entry using the new prices. Filled in the gaps and got 2.6 mil to up-grade. Morabito (110K??), Varcoe (220K) & Staker (around 110K and Def / For) a lock so far, but still a long way to go for any or all 3 not to look anywhere close to playing in the first rounds.
