On The Block

Written by Motts on April 10 2012

We’ve looked at Broughton down back, but who else are you thinking about trading out this week?

With the new rescindable trades rule, maybe you’ve already pulled the trigger…

  1. Scotland and Higgins? If so main targets would have to be Dempsey and Hawkins, which would free up alot of $$$

  2. I am worried about Shaw, Broughton, Pav and Martin but I will keep them and they will come good. Have faith. My newest concern is surrounding Mummy. Reported as back tightness. If he is ok I will stick with him as well but any sign of ‘on going’ he will make room for 211.

  4. I need some help with my rookie/midprice forwards.

    Currently have:
    Smedts
    Tomlinson
    Butcher
    Pfiefer
    Weedon

All are great prospects, but have not had a great start to the year.

Any suggestions? Am actually considering Schultz (as a POD)…

  6. Trades on the cards this week:

    G.Broughton —–> G.Birchall
    S.Mumford ——-> A.Sandilands

Broughton is gone for me, his role has changed for the worse and I understand when he does run in the midfield he will rack the points up, but a 100+ score every few weeks isn’t good enough for a premium. Birchall gives run and carry off the half-back line for Hawthorn and is there preffered user of the ball, they will look to give it too him at every oppurtunity, he has also been pushing up to the wing which will only see him collect more possesions.

Mumford is a proven gun and I won’t be trading him unless there is news on his injury, but it won’t take much, Sandilands is set to rise in price and with his ‘turf toe’ behind him I think he will be the top ruckmen at the end of the year.

  7. I want to get A Kennedy in seems solid as a more mature player for GWS and getting a good amount of ball. JS seems solid and scores are good so far. Who to trade out though?

    Dickson thumbs up
    Hall thumbs down

  8. Dickson for Milera is my only trade this week.

Keeping an eye on ledger though. If he is the vest again this weekend he will be out for Junior.

  9. Duff to rance? Or downgrade? I don’t have dempsey, lake, clarke etc. I want a decent cow in too, maybe milera for pfiefer.

  10. Broughton is a must go for me, his tagging role is surely a hindrance on my team. Mummy isn’t an issue, heard he woke up with a sore back, nothing too serious.
The second trade is harder. Trading in Clay Smith isn’t an issue anymore !
I can trade out the mighty Yag
I can bring Milera in for either Dickson or Hall
    What to do?!

  11. Barlow for A Kennedy from GWS( for cash)
D Martin for C Cornes from GWS( but Richmond has Melbourne this week and I can see a massive scoring opportunity for him against the spuds aka demons)
OR B Smith from Adelaide for Dempsey cause smith is shit

  12. This time last year everyone was in a rush to bring in the early bolters in the rookie ranks and I think I’ll be doing likewise.

For me, I think Milera and Kennedy will need to come in at the expense of Dickson and a combination of Devon Smith and Hall.

Either way I’ll be waiting until the teams are announced to be certain.

  13. At the moment I have $42,300 and I am really thinking about trading Jack Grimes to Dempsey which will give me $149,000 then I was thinking Guthrie to Hargrave or McIntosh to Ryder in the ruck. My backline at the moment is Goddard, Deledio, Grimes, Lake, M Clarke, Guthrie, Ellis (Bugg, Darley) what should I do? comments.

  17. Worries are these guys, but not trading because:

Shaw – Will get better when the rest of the Collingwood defenders come back.

Broughton – As Deano said in the “Greg Broughton” thread, Broughts averages more playing in the defence anyway, and he is just having bad games.

Caddy – I am worried about him but he will go up in price and that is what I want, and I still have faith in him that he will be a gun.

Martin – Versed Judd and Murphy first week, then Swan and Pendlebury the next. Have faith in him.

Johnson – Picked him up as a POD and hopefully he will become more of a POD as people will trade him because of this cold patch. He will go down in price but he is a genuine gun.

Hall and Dickson – Both not scoring much but both have potential to. Unless they aren’t picked for their side… they’re still in my side.

The only guy I am worried about is Mummy – If he has more than a 3 week injury, he is out for Nic Nat or Sandilands.

Mmmm imagine 24 trades at round 3. Tasty!

  19. Ok did it.

    Broughton out, Hurn in.
    Pfieffer out, Milera in.
    Still may use reverse button.

On a side note have had Hombsch from the start as a POD, but on the bench and he’s averaging 60.5. Scoring better than Ellis and Morris ATM. Don’t know if I should start him on the field.

    Thoughts anyone?

  20. At the moment it is Scotland and Coniglio out, Dempsey and S. Selwood in. Different plan of attack, don’t have an abundance of cash cows but have enough in my eyes. Keeping the faith with Bugg, Mohr, Smith, Shiel and Ledger.

    Rd 2 Score: 2349
Overall Rank: 1647 out of 331,418

    – Team was made after the Gws and sydney game therefore has no players from either of those sides.

-thumbs up: Golby to Bugg and Rowe to Giles (200k change)

-thumbs down:Maric to Giles and golby to Birchall or carrazzo (no change)

  22. what are peoples thoughts on rhys stanley? started off well, will have a big price rise. ive got cripps, so would it be a good idea to trade these two? wont cost me much, i havent used any trades yet, and i see his job security being better than cripps.

    thumbs up- trade to stanley
thumbs down- trade to a cheaper rookie and keep the cash

  23. 362 teams have already traded Mummy for Sandi
    lets break it down.

    A) Do they know something we don’t? he’s got an LTI?
    B) Do they get Unlimited trades unlike the rest of us with only 24?
    C) Do they think sandilands price will skyrocket? because really its only gonna go up about 15-20k
    D) if mummy is out for a while, why don’t u hold him for an extra 1-2 weeks, given that Giles and Redden are on 70+avg which is more than ok for rookie rucks and then bring in Cox or Goldstein at a massive discount?

Patience and Supercoach don’t go well together.

The only justifiable trade at this stage with premiums is that of broughton given Ross Lyon is a F##$, altough he does a good tagging job, role change means decrease in SC output so yeah trade away, but sideways on premiums after round 2 so you don’t lose 10k is absolute nuts!!

Premium = Proven Performer = BE PATIENT!!!

wow sorry bout that, but i used to be a serial trade waster so i’m trying to help ๐Ÿ™‚

  24. Milera for Hall and Greene for Colignio. Not sold on the last one but its worth 50k more to have Greene. Not happy with D Martin and H Shaw. Will almost never trade a premium tho.

  27. My POSSIBLE trades this week are broughton for rance (i’m with you motts)

Ledger for either Greene or Beams (Bris)
inclined to make less money on Beams and have the job security for M6,
don’t know much about Greene, other than his scoring, he does find the ball, 27 and 31 touches but 52% and 51% efficiency isn’t great. is he solid for GWS best 22?

  28. okay. this is very tricky but what do u think.

-traded mumford for redden and put redden on bench.
-put giles off bench onta ground.
    -turned coniglio into pendlebury.

  30. Is Devon Smith to Milera worth the waste of a trade??????
Milera will fatten up quicker but his JS worries me a little with Gram and Sneijder to come back in.
I have a lot of the other decent rookies and i dont have enough money for a dickson or smedts trade to Milera….

Thumbs up – Trade D Smith to Milera

Thumbs down – Not worth the waste of a trade..Hold off

  33. I’ve got bloody Yagmoor wasting away on the pine (persumming he’s not playing this week), and only 10k in the bank.
First off, is it worth a trade? And who for?

Thumbs up, out for Hombsch (played 2 games, averaging 64

Thumbs down, out for Delaney (played 1 game for 79 points against GWS)

  35. Hey hey. First off I’m not chopping anyone. Broughts will come good(I hope).

One question for everyone using FFGenie. I downloaded it and was using it but when I closed it and tried to open the Launch file again it wanted to download it again. Do I have to do this every time I want to use it or am I a nuff nuff and doing something wrong?? Please help as my brain is already in overdrive trying to deal with with rookies to keep or get. Cheers

  39. David HALE*

Sorry guys about the double post, but it may have been missed by a few people, and this is a more appropriate thread.
Trade or Hold? He has a easier run coming up, and has scored ok with tough opposition. Going down in price probably this week. I could trade him for a Mid with new rules, I have a few players in mind in the mids.

  41. Am I pushing too far?

Have $200k, can downgrade Martin for Milera, upgrade Coniglio for Pendles.

    I even have $100k left.

Should I trade or wait? Martin will lose a heap of cash.

    Any thoughts?

  42. Ok so I got canned earlier for my Dempsey for shaw and Parker for masten trade (auto correct changed his name to Maren?) I figure that masten is the real deal this season and Parker worries me as he didn’t set the world on fire before inj vs gws and expecting masten to have a good game against he’s this week. The remaining $ will either be used to upgrade Morris or Ellis as there seems to be more value in mid priced defenders and may trade on malceski next week? Thoughts?

  43. A bit of topic but saw this on the afl website and thought it was a bit funny

After back-to-back beltings, some leading bookmakers are refusing to offer head-to-head betting on GWS games

THE THRASHINGS that are to be inflicted on the AFL’s newest team this season will see leading bookmaking outlet TAB Sportsbet refuse to offer head-to-head prices on some Giants games.

For what is believed to be the first time in its 20-year-plus involvement in AFL wagering, ย TAB Sportsbet is not offering head-to-head odds on the GWS-West Coast game on Sunday at Blacktown International Sportspark.

The decision was made public on Tuesday when TAB Sportsbet released official odds for this weekend’s matches online.

Sportingbet and Sportsbet are also not offering head-to-head odds on West Coast-GWS this weekend. Centrebet has the Eagles at $1.01, the same price at which North Melbourne started in last Sunday’s mauling of GWS in Hobart.

  45. Opinions please

solid team, not spectacular but solid. a few dud rookies and mid pricers to get rid of

    MID: G Ablett, S Pendlebury, S Mitchell, B Goddard, J Selwood, S Coniglio, D Shiel, D Pfeiffer

looking to get on the magner bandwagon, thinking pfieffer out, leaving shiel and coniglio as my midfield rookies.

up front, tried to be different and have hale and christensen as a couple of mid pricers that arenโ€™t doing what i hoped. was thinking of getting rid of hale, just not sure for who.

    my fwd line

    FWD: N Fyfe, L Franklin, T Cloke, D Smith, D Hale, J Cameron, A Christensen, B Smedts, T Dickson

after the magner trade iโ€™d have 190k in the bank. so could go up to premium or down to rook.

  46. i am going to trade broughton to dempsey… i will then have 335k spare.
with mohr, bugg, ellis, morris (so 2 on field) is it worth trading one to M Clarke or not. i reckon he will average more and better JS.

thumbs up. just do broughton for dempsey, no M Clarke.
thumbs down. trade broughton to dempsey and get M Clarke in for a rookie.

  47. Dyson Heppell, i rate him… and scott pendlebury has said he’ll get a lot of easy footy running off the back line (Scott Pendlebury said it so it must be true!! #FACT) hahaha… Anyway the question is does SCT rate him?
thumbs up: good kid give him a crack
thumbs down: he wont score well enough to be SC relevant

  48. Guys as I have mentioned before, DONT PANIC.

Shaw broughton and Scotland are all causing pain but there aren’t many quality premium defenders around these days.

I know the downgrade to mids like lake and Dempsey are tempting but they will be unrealiable.

The premium defenders will come good as will dusty.

  49. Beady eye. Lucky broughton is not a problem for me.

Its an interesting one. Still I hate the idea of trading out premium defenders as I rule. Let us know if you pull the trigger.obviously now is the time if you are.

  50. As a rule i dont make trades in the first 2 weeks and wait for the bubble to pop its head up and make a couple. The only problem is in recent years iv had a better starting team. For some reason this year i have left myself with a few rookies that arnt getting a game. Didnt bother me over the first 2 weeks as i only go for league win but now i am having some concerns. If anyone could shed some light over the following few guys this would be much appreciated

    Def
    L Brown Adel
    S Darley GWS
    Fwd
    T Couch Melb
    D Pfeiffer Port

  53. SC first timer, but determined to put in a good show (strong competive streak – the reason I have avoided joining a league previous years).

I know everyone says keep the trades, but I’m quite tempted to:

    – get rid of Grimes, put Delidio in DEF (currently in MID) and bring in Kennedy for MID.
    – Then trade C. Richardson (NM) for Magner.
    Worthwhile trades?
I’d love to get Giles, currently have McEvoy and Maric, should I stick with them?

Also, if Delidio is sitting in my MID, how do I move him to DEF?

Any advice, HUGELY appreciated. Especially as I’m still learning, getting my head around breakevens etc.
