Outside the Box!

Written by Thommo on August 22 2018

Nateoย asked an interesting question in the Polling Station on Monday: Should he trade out Tom Mitchell?

Sounds crazy, right?

Actually, not at all!

Tom Mitchell has struggled against the Swans since joining Hawthorn with scores of 105, 98 and 72 from 3 matches. Surely there are midfielders in teams with easy match-ups (such as Geelong and Adelaide) that should pump out some huge scores.

This is the type of thinking that has allowed Nateo to rank in the top 20 teams this season and could see him jump into the top 10.

So how about it coaches:

Should Nateo trade out Tom Mitchell?

  1. Its a big big move, I like the out of the box thinking but I personally think there are trades that could yield you much more points over a single round. Like say an out of form fwd for someone in form like Hawkins who has an easy match up and will be gunning for the Coleman.

      1. Think Hawkins is a great option Nateo. You rolled me last week in the SC3 league but no shame going down to someone who rates so highly. Good luck. Marronators season next year!!

    1. He’s really struggled of late. Partly cause he has two opponents most of the time and one of them will hold him in every contest. Hope he kicks a bag to nab the Coleman but i’d look elsewhere.

  2. Bring in the son of god. First game against his old mob, playing at GMBHA and suns are leaking points in the midfield.
I brought him in about 4 weeks ago as a POD for rockliff and he has been great.

    1. Considering Baldy at the moment i think he will have 35 and 3 goals, haven’t gone through with the trade yet as Buddy is in doubt

      1. I am hoping like hell that buddy plays as I am out of trades, surely they risk him when they have top 4 and he has the coleman to play for.

    1. This year i do Pete :(, last year i started with Grundy and Cox ruined him when they played together Grundy averaged 85 odd and as a lone ruckman 110 or so it was. But now this year it doesn’t matter at all as Cox is a stay at home fwd!! =[

  3. I have a bad feeling that Coniglio will cop the Harmes tag after what happened last week against Syd. He seems to tag blokes that arenโ€™t really quick so I may waste a trade turning him into Macrae.
As far as Mitchell is concerned it is a good call but I have watched Hewitt closely and he doesnโ€™t always put a hard tag on. Could pay off but such a big game Mitchell will be getting his hands extra dirty this week. Especially as he was relatively quiet last round.

  4. With titch playing sat night, grundy looks the obvious v. I’d look at how the other uber prems in Danger, T kelly, dusty, fyfe etc…go, and if one or two of those go huge, and you dont have them, I would trade. Beams, Cripps, Ward, Oliver, and huge pod Seb Ross all play Sunday. Titch always poor at the tight SCG and will also have a heavy tag.
Good luck. I think you van see the teams above you using the rankings button.
