J Selwood Out

Written by Motts on 12:23 pm, April 1 2011

From the Herald:

“GEELONG star Joel Selwood has pulled out of the Cats’ clash against Fremantle along with key players Cam Mooney and Tom Lonergan.

The Cats controversially named Selwood in the team last night eight days after he suffered a horror head clash in Round 1.

Selwood ran laps at training this morning and is believed to have boarded the plane to Perth with his teammates, posting a photo taken on the plane on Twitter.

But the Cats have advised the AFL he will not take his place in the side.

El Capitano

Written by Motts on 10:18 am, March 31 2011

We consider ourselves to be a full service SC site here at The Talk so I was about to spend the morning going through all the stats to produce a Mottsy’s Captains post when I saw that our good friends over at tooserious had already done the work for me. Bless ’em. You can view it here.

Guess I can now spend the morning running the eyes over last night’s AFL360. Excellent.

So who are you planning on locking the double score for in this week?

Punting

Written by Motts on 10:00 am, March 31 2011

Fair to say we didn’t do too well with our blue swimmer multi last week. But like Andy Gaff, when we get belted we just bounce back up and get straight back into the thick of things.

Here’s what I’m on this week, all of them straight out:

Saints – way too much class for Richmond and will be smarting after the close loss last week

Pies – no explanation necessary

Blues – will welcome back key defenders, overcome the emotion of GC’s first game, and celebrate Juddy’s 200th

Dockers –

Ruck Combo’s

Written by Motts on 3:24 pm, March 30 2011

You only have a limited amount of dollars to play with in this game. Funnily enough the combined value of Cox and Ryder ($845,000) is very similar to that of Sandilands and Warnock ($853,300). Do you think last week’s stats are representative of how all four of them are going to score for the season (Cox – 165, Ryder – 141, Sandilands – 134, Warnock – 117) or do you think things will change as time goes on? Its time to vote, which combo do you like more?

SC Round 1 Lessons

Written by Big Sexy on 12:30 pm, March 30 2011

A few Lessons Learned from Round 1:

  1. JP Kennedy isn’t worth the SC Hype (yet)
  2. Midpricers don’t pay dividends (very few exceptions)
  3. There are plenty of good Rookies to choose from, and we haven’t seen the Suns yet.
  4. Big Cox is back to his very best
  5. Those trying to exploit the captaincy loophole with Gibbs/Judd and have Swan in their side should not have got sucked in…. you invested in Swan for a reason!
  6. Captaincy selection is crucial…. Anyone who picked Selwood was in serious trouble (obviously couldn’t predict that).
