James Podsiadly – Shhhhh!!!!

Written by Duck on 3:47 pm, February 11 2010

James who? I’d never heard of him but according to his bio on the Cats website he’s …

One of the standout players in the VFL in recent seasons, Podsiadly gets a long overdue chance at VFL level. Even though he is 28, he has been a dominant key forward in the VFL and it would not surprise if he were given an opportunity in the AFL. Was on Essendon’s rookie list in 2000 and Collingwood’s in 2002.

His other notable achievements for 2009 include, Best & Fairest, 68 goals and member of VFL team of the year.

My Team – The Rucks

Written by Motts on 7:00 am, February 11 2010

As I mentioned yesterday, there are some bargains to be had here but as with most bargains in this comp there is a risk you sign up to if you draft them. More often than not its injury and the two blokes I’ve placed on the field this year both missed significant numbers of games in ’09. As with my backs, the strategy is to take the value gain before trading up to fellas like Clark, Cox (if his foot stays good), Tippett, McIntosh and Kreuzer.

RUCKS

D Hille ($311,300, 73.25) – starred in the comp a couple of years ago but played only 4 games in 2009 before blowing out his knee in the Anzac Day match.

My Team – The Mids

Written by Motts on 7:00 am, February 10 2010

MIDFIELDERS
This group generates more points per player than any other because they just get so much of the leather. My strategy here is to go with guys on the field that I think will score heavily for me and grab a couple of rookies on the bench that I think will go up nicely in price. Here we go:

G Ablett ($744,200, 140.11) – Captain selection automatically made every week. Yes you could get 2 players for him but you can only make one of those guys captain. I’m still not over the line with him but at this stage he’s in.

My team – The Backs

Written by Motts on 9:15 am, February 9 2010

After spending more than a couple of hours on Supercoach to date I’m ready to put up a first cut of my team. I’m not promising this will be the final revision, I’m just saying that this is where my head is at today. Form in the NAB Cup, injuries, and arrests for possession and trafficking will all play a part on the final make-up of the side.

So in no particular order, here goes:

THE BACKS
This position is going to generate most of your value in 2010. My strategy this year is to gain the value increase on a lot of these guys and then flip them for more proven (expensive) performers.

Gary Ablett Decision

Written by Duck on 10:17 am, February 5 2010

It’s probably one of the biggest decisions I’ll have to make this year, pick Gary Ablett and spend a decent chunk of change on him or grab a few decent 350k players instead.

He’s bound to score well and picking him would offset his selection by many opponents throughout the year but I’m starting to think, after a convo with Motts yesterday, there’s better options … I just need to find them.

The job has been made easier thanks to blokes like Tappy for some great info in the comments of previous posts, I’ll be analysing all suggestions closer over the coming weeks.

Changes to 2010 SuperCoach Emergencies

Written by Duck on 3:30 pm, February 1 2010

According to those in the know there’s been some changes to the way emergencies ar handled this year … and i quote ….

THE GAME GETS BETTER
SuperCoach is the only fantasy football game in Australia that rewards the best players, not just the best stats collectors. The only change we’ve made is to eliminate an anomaly.

This year, players who are in the starting 22 for any match AND score a 0 for any reason (such as an injury early in the match), will NO LONGER be replaced by an emergency.
