Poll – Which Suns and Pears are relevant?

Written by Thommo on June 6 2018

Several coaches have asked who we should trade into our SC teams out of Westhoff and Robbie Gray. Just to answer the question about Port and Suns players once and for all, I’ve created a poll with every worthwhile bye-free player.

You’ve got up to 3 votes to let us know the best options from the list. Who are you considering?

Note: If you own Tom Rockliff, please don’t vote for him just to level the playing field with your opponents!

Which bye-free players are you considering? (3 selections)

  1. Murphy to Heron? Bank 100k and cover thru the byes.

If Heron can average 50 and hold his spot then he will reach 270k.

j.s looks decent with Hall out now.

  2. Pretty clear cut top 3 IMO. Westhoff, Gray and Boak. None of the options from the suns interest me, but will certainly be points of difference having one or two of them in your team. After the last couple of years, I have lost my faith in Rocky, but could still turn it around for current owners.

  3. What about Brodie? Was a rookie many looked at before the season started..
Plus Touk Miller is someone to keep an eye on

    1. At this stage of the season coaches are probably more concerned about keepers on the run home. Brodie is a bit too expensive to downgrade to and Touk is playing well but not Top 8 mid well.

      1. True, but it looks as though thousands of people will be trading in Austin at 160k, and touk could make a good m9

    1. Maybe you didn’t see the Hawks game in Rd 11, but Ryder was limping badly with that achilles problem. Avoid!

      1. This is why i place Westhoff as the best as he spends some time in the ruck and with less of Ryder i feel there will be more for Westhoff

      2. I didn’t know that thanks for the heads up. I wasn’t seriously looking at Ryder because I prefer Kreuzer after his bye.

    1. Tricky one….been thinking the same. But with 21 onfield this week, a sideways trade to gain one week, I dont hink so. Cogs looking more likely to play than not.

    1. From here Westhoff. From c. Rd16 would be Franklin for me if he doesn’t go down again before. Depends on your urgency. Ultimately I’d probably say neither!

        1. Agree with HH below. Not sure tbh. Finding FWD line really hard to finish.
Currently have McLean, Heeney, Sicily/TMac, Westhoff, Mundy and Fritsch.
Am keeping my options open while Fritsch continues to improve. Might even ditch Mundy first, but until the byes are done am looking at D Smith, Caddy (wife has had him from the start), Walters and Gray (for role change). Also outsiders are JJK (while Darling’s OUT), and Darling himself when he’s back. Due to suffering his injury early he is likely to drop $100k while his injury score washes through 😉
I guess my point was/is, if you’re not in a hurry, I’d leave it for now. I’m completing DEF, MID and RUC (sideways Nank to Grundy) before I finish FWD line. Might even swing TMac forward too and get another premo DEF in. Not sure yet.
Good luck with whatever you decide!
Short answer: you could do a lot worse than Hoff!!

    2. Hoff is not injured and plays every game, Buddy has the nightmare bye, and an injury.

Of those two it looks a simple choice.

  4. I’m honestly not interested in any of them, but if I was it would probably be Witts. But with Gawn and Grundy, nope.

If you had to pin me on another I would go the Hoff, or Jonas. Gray looked promising but Rocky seems to have put paid to that.

    1. Agree totally. Have had Hoff since Rd3 and am delighted to this point, but he makes me nervous. Every week. Batting well above his average. Literally 😉

      1. He tends to have periods of sub par scores, which hurt his average every year. There’s no doubting the ability but Port just have so many players who pop up in the forward line – such as Wingard, or both of the Grays, so there is going to be some inconsistency when they choose another Avenue to goal.

  5. Like a lot of weeks, I think teams tonight will decide on a number of these guys either getting traded in or not.
For myself, originally I was not trading at all this week, but now Fyfe, Dusty confirmed out, Laird, Coniglio under injury cloud, all of a sudden I can’t field 18 if a couple of rooks don’t keep their spot (Murphy, Smith).

In short, if I can’t field 18, will try bring the Hoff in, but may take 2 trades….

  6. If Barry doesnt play again, do i go early on Ahern to get an extra body on the field

    TU: Yes
TD: Wait till after his bye
