Poll – Best MIDs

Written by Schwarzwalder on April 12 2019

Three weeks ago you were certain you had the midfielders all sorted out.  That can be a long time in footy however.  How does it all look now?  Have you still got the same MIDs in mind?  Which eight midfielders would you ideally like to have in your team by the end of the season? (Players in order of current avg)

Which eight MIDs are you aiming to have in your side by seasons end? (eight choices)

  1. Happy with Cripps, Neale and Crouch.

Oliver underwhelming so far, but hopefully he builds into the season.

Libba is picking up some of Clayton’s slack.

On the wishlist: Macrae, Kelly, Coniglio, Bont, Treloar, Fyfe (pending recovery).

    1. After q1 last night, Oliver had nearly 30 poss. …20 of those were contested but de of 58 cooked him.

      He wll be fine.

    1. Giants are the only good team that play the gold coast twice. Cameron and Kelly *might* feast on them.

I remain unconvinced about gold coast, they started 3-2 last year before only winning one game for the rest of the year.

  2. Almost considering Zac Merrett. Had a 110 average 2017 and only a 100 average last year but a concussion round 1 and many games affected after. Go to round 11 onwards scores a ton in every game bar 1 and it was a 93.
Didn’t start him due to an interrupted preseason but seems fine now and doesn’t have recent history with soft tissue injury. Seems to be a consistent scorer and someone you can set and forget. not the greatest of ceilings but id take a 105-125 every week when i could have someone else go 70-150

    1. Wish Essendon didn’t play until Sunday because if Atkins bombed i would of traded Fyfe to Merret this week. Proven supercoach premium.

      1. Is he? He was great in the year he played with VFL players, looks like he’s working through tags now which is great, he doesn’t kick goals, can be a bit uncontested at times & hasn’t flashed a really big ceiling (I think 140 is his top in 3 years)

Noting definitive just saying I’m not sure

  3. I think Sheed, Gaff and Yeo will average very similar numbers this year and my bold prediction is that they will all average within 10 points of each other. 99 to 109.

    1. Sheed worries me a bit with Gaff back & Yeo likely to come back into form I think he’s capped around 100-105, finds the ball pretty well & tends to kick rather than HB but is pretty uncontested & doesn’t tackle.

  4. Dyson Heppell, I know some may think he is passed it but I watched him train this year and if that form continues, he’ll surprise one or two. My pick for top 10 mids who is not on the list.

    1. Very interesting mate. I would have had him averaging around 10 points below Zerrett and maybe on par with Shiel. But great to hear from someone that has watched a team up close and has good knowledge on a player. Thanks for sharing, I’ll be keeping an extra eye on him
