Poll: Butters Replacement

Written by Gunboat Diplomacy on June 19 2022

And ZAP! Just like, after being well on track for his best score of the season and reminding us why we all started him, the dynamic Zak Butters was struck down. A knee injury now has him slated for a lengthy stint out of the game and thus warrants a trades.

This poll’s been put together assuming everyone has Josh DUNKLEY and Will BRODIE and that Tim ENGLISH and Marcus BONTEMPELLI are the obvious replacements if you don’t have them.

Who's the best Butters replacement option?

  1. As many could have English in the ruck, could be a good time to swing him forward and bring in a ruck. I’m personally looking at getting Sean Darcy in due to his large ceiling

    1. Me too , It would be great to wait a week as his BE is 179.

Could be $520K if you can wait another week.

  2. Going Heeney. Ground-coverage was quality, like always was making something out of very little and is prone to a bit of loving from CD.

Won’t be getting Mills, so Heeney and Parker is sufficient Swans cover. Just hope he can stay ripe on the run home

  3. Don’t waste money on to many fwds, just get a cheap high ceiling player. Put your money into def and mids.

      1. I’d be seriously looking at Daniher.
I brought in Toby greene a couple of weeks ago to help with the byes knowing i’d get 70’s more often than not but can go big.

Use the saved cash to bring in Stewart/sicily
        or Mills/laird.

Getting Greene allowed me to get in Mills instead of a merritt or Pertracca type.

  4. Current forward line:
Dunkley, Brodie, Parker, libba, himmelberg, butters* ( Hamilton durdin)

    96k in the bank
8 trades remaining before this week.

If I decide to use one trade it’s Heeney bank 20k from it. If I Decide on Two trades it’s durdin -> Clarke & butters -> Bont/English. Trades are gold at this time of year though and There will be more carnage too come in the next 8 weeks.

Himmelberg is going too Bont or English when the time is right anyway if he eventually loses that HB role.

    1. I’m in the same boat. Butters to Heeney and only use one trade or burn two trades to get Bont in.

I agree with what you’ve said, trades are gold at this time of the year, so I am only using the one to get Heeney in and hope like anything that 6 trades left will be enough to see out the year.

  5. Going Bont / clarke at this stage for Butters and Dekoning . Trades in short supply but already have a number of almost premiums in my team so taking plunge .

  6. Many showing interest in English and he has had his good patch but I’ve owned him from R3 and he is proving to be an injury risk. With him now missing R15, for delayed concussion, that makes 6 rounds unavailable in addition to his bye (so far). Reckon I’ll avoid him next year. So for those replacing Butters, look elsewhere.

  7. This is a tough one. I Have 4 trades left.

Will get a donut if I don’t trade Pruess.

TU trade preuss to goldy and butters to Parker. Leaves 2 trades
TD save a trade and just do preuss to Darcy. Leaves 3 trades but miss out on Parker

    Which is better ?

  8. I was initially thinking to hold butters. However I think after his knee last year he was only used out of a forward pocket and his scores showed.
I’m trading out butters for Goldy, which covers english this week at R1. Other trade is massimo in for Curtis and switch de koning forward.
Keeps mccartin d7, de koning f8 for cover. Hobbs and McComb for cover mid and forward as well with all m/f DPP players on mid bench.
