Poll – Fancy a POD?

Written by Thommo on May 30 2018

Theoriginalforce is planning on committing the original sin and taking a risk on a midfield POD for the run home. He has asked which player will come home like a freight train after the byes.

I have compiled a list of the most likely midfielders to finish strongly and each is at less than 8% ownership with Mitch Duncan the lowest at 1.34% ownership.

On the poll below pick the three midfielders you rate the most likely to finish fast. Let us know in the comments if I have made any glaring omissions. I have left out Rockliff as I don’t think he’ll remain a POD after this week!

  1. I’ve got two Premo spots to go but I’m saving them for Dangerfield and Macrae. Only rocking Crouch as a POD so I’m hoping he starts busting out 120’s

  2. I voted for Crouch, Treloar and J Kelly.
I wouldnโ€™t pick ANY of them up before their respective byes and would probably give the latter two a bit more time to recover from injury.
I picked these three because I think all of them will average a lot more than they currently do (less so Treloar, but he is due to drop in price with one more bad score), AND they all should have a lot to play for right up until Rd23 (finals and/or top4).

      1. True Catta, but that sort of thing hasn’t stopped people jumping on the Rockliff bandwagon this week. Is it just the price tag that makes the difference?

        1. I reckon it must be. If he was 500k nobody would be picking him up. And thatโ€™s why Iโ€™m not. Will most likely have to upgrade him later or cover another injury, which equates to a wasted trade really.
          I hope Iโ€™m proven wrong but …

        2. Absolutely, Chillo.

No doubt Rocky has been a great SC player over the years, but gee heโ€™s been frustrating to own throughout those times too.

In saying that with Kellyโ€™s be, he could be sub $500k after his bye & be a popular choice as a M9 for those with a healthy bank

  3. J Kelly is the standout option of the aforementioned.

    2017:
    SPO Avg: 123.75 from 8 (1/8 below 100, 4/8 120+)
    Post Bye Avg: 116.44 from 9 (1/9 below 100, 4/9 120+)
    Wins Avg: 119.31 from 13 (3/13 below 100, 6/13 120+)

Is averaging 103.5 from 4 dealing with an injury this season with a low of 91 and has a very supercoach friendly game style.

  4. Beams is about to explode and be a top 8 mid for the rest of the season.
Don’t care about the impending thumbs down!

  5. Started with Treloar despite him disappointing me last season and have been rewarded handsomely. I reckon that too many of us SC coaches have too much emotion in our selections (never again lists for example), judging players too harshly on disappointments from the past and not just judging them on right now.

    1. Agree, thats why I hadn’t picked Treloar up until this point but his form is very good at the moment, Im bringing him in.
