Poll: Fyfe

Written by Gunboat Diplomacy on June 30 2020

Having struck down two of the comps premier DEF picks, the SC gods then decided to smite Fyfe owners – including those like me who had brought him that week. The great paradox of Fyfe is that when fit he’s an SC machine but, conversely, his susceptibility to hamstring issues means he seldom gets through a season injury free.

Right now the word is he’ll miss no more than a fortnight with a low grade hamstring strain, which may compel owners to hold. On the flip side, his elevated price tag means you can bank cash replacing him with anyone bar Neale. So, coaches:

What to do with Fyfe?

    1. Bennell likely plays this week and Sidey is in trouble so Brown might hold his spot for another week. I don’t have Fyfe (too injury prone) but I’d be holding if I had him.

  1. If you have bench Cover, strong hold. Fyfe will make up the 100 points lost by fielding a rookie over any premo provided he only misses two weeks.

    1. Keep in mind, though, that with the shortened season, trading players out and then back in again is more of an option than in previous seasons – could be a best of both worlds option?

  2. I’m trading Fyfe out for Simpkin for the dpp. Then in 2 weeks I’ll move him in the fwd line for J,Martin and upgrade Martin to a premo mid.

Team 2 Howe Fyfe and Sause got in Gawn and Kolo

    1. Thanks guys,
Just did some more playing with team 1 and in order to keep Fyfe,

If I choose to keep Fyfe and get Kolo and not Ridley I can’t afford Gawn.
But, I have 596,500 to spend.
I was thinking Dangerfield or maybe even Wingard, and yes there are other affordable options, Pendlebury, Oliver etc. but thoughts please on whether I should have Gawn instead.

  4. Haven’t got Macrae yet so he stands off the page, back in the midfield with Dunkley out and Hunter not far away, flew home last year as well.

  5. I’m chasing overall ranking so really considering trading Fyfe out then getting him back in when he is fit and ready.

Given I’m trading in Simpkin for Viney it’s either trading Fyfe to a premo (possibly Lloyd) or one of my non-playing rookies to Serong.

    Decisions, decisions!

  6. My first thought is hold, second is go straight to Bont, 3rd to Simpkin,

    Is Simpkin the real deal?

    1. Hold. Fyfe will be out at least 2 weeks. The more scary thing is that they will rest him at some point too. But then he comes back and you know what he will do. By trading him out, you are using at least 2 trades for how many points??

  7. A 2-week injury is a long time in the context of a 17-week season. Pains me to move him on, but I must.

    1. Yep, Jov. I’m with you.

2 weeks is still 15% of the remaining games. Plus, fielding a rookie will hurt with the rankings so close rn. Gonna be losing a minimum of 150~ points and a viable VC/C option.

      He’s out for me.
