Poll: H Greenwood v S Walsh

Written by Motts on February 6 2020

Hugh Greenwood got a ton of attention in Chillo‘s awesome Gold Coast write up this morning while Walshy received the same in Ben‘s extensive (and hilarious) review of the Blues.

So let’s poll ’em. Right now do you have one, the other, both or neither?

  1. BTW for the uninitiated, the format above is: Player Name (Position, Price, 2019 Average, 2019 Number of Games Played).

    1. Good stuff Motts but it is a pass for me.

Greenwood is more interesting because he has the DPP, New team challenge, Midfield role, no clear cut FWD premos this season . However he is playing for Gold coast.

Walsh is a future gun and is guaranteed mid time and progression in the blues. But he is a mid and is awkwardly priced so for me there are better options.
Good luck for the people who back either

  2. I have greenwood at F3 currently in a year where the forwards are so unpredictable I’m willing to take a punt on a inside bull who loves to tackle and should play 22 games at the GC.. hopefully he increases his tank his TOG is pretty low.

Walsh is unfortunately at that awkward price where he’s too expensive to be a stepping stone and not going too be a top 10-12 midfielder although i do expect a breakout year and to go 100+. Pass in standard great option for draft

    1. The amount of players at GC that pull 100 each week in minimal, personally I think hes no chance but good luck!

  3. Really focusing this season on, if they haven’t done it before(hit premium in their line) , don’t risk it.

    1. Probably a good strategy, of the 62 players to play more than 5 games and average 95+ last season only 12 hadn’t done it before & of those 12 you had 2 guys in Marshell & O’Brien who fell into no1 ruck roles, Taranto, Lyons, Sheed Harmes & Hopper were all mid only so not relevant & Daniel had a new role not many saw coming, Tim Kelly had shown he was already pretty close & Newman had shown a ceiling at least,

      Taranto (88 previous)
      T Kelly (93 previous)
      Williams (93 previous)
      Lyons (92 previous)
      Daniel
      Marshell
      O’Brien
      Worpel
      Newman
      Sheed
      Harmes
      Hopper

Harmes averaged 95.1 for a team who won 5 games, he’s the blueprint if you want to back Hugh in & I’d say Greenwood has slight edge in SC scoring power, I personally think he can push a 96-98 average BUT I think Steven & Smith could do similar, they are cheaper & they’ve done it before.
